The applications last as long as the Constitution lasts, or until there is a convention. In other words, they are like everything else named in the Constitution. There are no laws which limit them in any way. Check the FOAVC.org site for more details, and please help raise awareness of this issue. Thank You.
So the Supreme Court ruled that corporations do have a right to speak about political issues. Seems consistent to me that they should. Why should they not be afforded the same right as a labor Union, a Media Broadcaster, or a PAC who are also not "persons" ?
@magazooms@magazooms in short, money is not speech. it's the volumne of a speech. only those forces that're well-funded will be heard.
we have ES&S and Diebold countinng over 80% of votes cast nationwide. all on proprietary source code. i you don't have transparent elections, you don't have a free society--the two are one and the same. thus, the problem of corporate funding is actually a secondary problem.
Why are you waiting for those criminals in Congress to approve what you are doing? Did the founding fathers wait for King George to give them permission? Just hold the convention, draft some articles of confederation or a new constitution, and make sure you specifically deny corporations citizenship and deny them a charter if not for the public good - and deny corporations the power to lobby congress or make contributions to candidates.
I think this claim is based on convoluted legal semantics and misunderstood history. Congress simply submitted the 17th Amendment draft to the states itself; why have an amendment-proposing-nat'l-convention to propose the same thing again? Also, Dr. Parenti's philippic against the Supreme Court here is a non sequitur. The goal of the video presenters here is very admirable, but I doubt there will be enough (2/3 of states) requests to get an Art-V convention. This can be done through Congress.
There are 567 applications from all 50 states. The Constitution requires only 34 state applications. Your assumption is incorrect. Further Congress has refused to call a convention.
Congress only submitted the amendment to the states out of fear of other actions that might come out of a convention. It was not a benevolent act. The states had been asking for the direct election of Senators for many years.
and CC2 sites and could not find anything about the next step in this saga. My site is for Congressional Term Limits,(look for it on youtube at nels96)and one of the strategies listed is for a convention, but I had no idea that Bill Walker had taken it so far. So how do I find out what's next ? Can I help ?
hi nels, i just got your e-mail address and will send info shortly. type "Friends of the Article V Convention" into google search. it should be there. thanks for your efforts.
Aside from constantly calling our form of government (at least on paper) a democracy instead of a republic, this is a pretty cool video. Congress ALL needs to go to jail.
GOP and lobby want to privatise voting electronically to manipulate who wins!

I feel humbled by the courage and conviction of true patriots still daring to protect freedoms that I was not even aware of possessing.
