The Tech is better in the prequels is cause the society of the Republic was vast, when the Empire took over it forced control to the Imperials, doing so the Rebels had to resort to guerella tatics and stealth operations.

The "official" explanation for the better technology in the prequels is that it's war time, and both sides have shiny technology ready, whilst in the originals the rebels are just scraping by, and the Empire doesn't take them seriously enough to rearm until VI, by which point they've blown all their resources into 2 deathstars.

Of course, the real explanation is that Lucas had more money and technology whilst making the prequels.

Actually hitman47764 is right, for the most part, they weren't books really, they were comic books, very old ones, and there were actually 9 of them, not 6. There's still the final trilogy left to be made, which may never make it, as after making episode III, George Lucas said he's done with Star Wars. The stories for the last three movies were written up and were ready to have screenplays made out of them, but they it never happened, you can find them online and read them if you want.

Ayla secura was in episodes 2 and 3. In episode 2 she fought on geonosis in the arena. In episode 3 she was killed by her troops. And the technology wasn't better. In the prequel movies it was when the republic was fighting the separatists who had droids fighting for them. When the emperor took over, he ordered darth vader to manastaar to kill the separatist leaders and shut down the droid facilities

I would guess that the main reason the past technology was better might be because during the time during Vader's reign and when everything went to rumble the republic had limited or very few resources. Continuing onward any technology the Jedi once had was either lost or somewhat diminished sans the light saber. Don't quote me on it as I don't have a total background of the Star Wars story.

@CooVee Yeah. I do apologize that I couldn't be more helpful in my explanation. Like I said my knowledge of the Star Wars universe is somewhat limited. You do have a point though, bigger boom and technological advance = bigger sales as it's more interesting to watch even if it doesn't make sense at certain moments.

@CooVee Once the empire had started, and the republic had fallen the archives which was in the jedi temple where partly destroyed leaving the technology yet to be discovered and the rebellion couldn't afford anything fancy since the empire was taking all the money through threats
