One more thing. I ran out of space. As edgy as some of the art is I think the sponsors are probably stuck in the 20th century when the me generation was figuring itself out. Still I am happy that this thing exists.
Soundwalk is in a lot of ways a real treasure. A friend of mine has been involved a couple of times. She told me the whole guide thing or lack of one is in the interest of figuring it out for yourself. In my opinion, that's a little misguided. This is an information age and I don't belong to a generation that likes to disinform itself by figuring everything out. I figure things out better when I have information to work with.
i couldn't agree more. i and people i know would get a lot more out of this event if there was a tour or at least a guide. i could compare my take on the works with those presented by someone knowledgeable who delivers commentary on the works.
It's a cool event. A lot us of wish though that explanations of individual works were available. You would think a soundwalk guide to lead spectators around to meet artists and hear explanations from either the guide or artists would be a natural for this event.
I know Shea Gauer, who is one of the SoundWalk producers. He definitely is not stuck in the 20th Century.

I agree!!!
It's a pain if you have to explain everything to your family. It would be great if there where guides for the event.

We thought so too... but the creators decided to go all natural... with out a host to guide the audience.

It's so nice to see another perspective of the same event.
