  • the Japanese one looks so majestic, elegant and beautiful. The American one looks like a brute. XD I definitely prefer the Japanese one...

  • ENIGMA! :) hahaha

  • im gon feed my future akita with so much protein that he gon become giant akita den hes gon eat me >:D

  • The Japanese Akita is the original Akita. The American is more or less the "Americanized" version. Americans just gotta mess with everything. lol. but really, I love both versions. why not mix an american with a japanese and see what we get. lol. they are both beautiful dogs.

  • When i walk my dog i get asked often if its a wolf wich i think is a stupid question and what kind of dog it is, i dont think a lot of people in the us know what an akita is they are so used to the typical breed like chihuahuas or huskies pit bulls and so on i think akitas are rare to most people at least here where i live is in southern california

  • :D"

  • This video is interesting, and it does show a difference between "american" akitas and japanese akitas. My question is although they are different, what makes an akita an AMERICAN akita? Didn't both dogs originate from japan. Your comparison in the beginning is definitely valid, but it doesn't compare to american akitas and japanese akitas. It would be better if it was like alaskan husky or siberian husky. tbh i think theres no such thing as an american akita or a alaskan husky.

  • @SNSclips American and Japanese Akitas differ in what in the last few decades has become what is considered acceptable breed standard by the two countries kennel clubs. Ironically it is the "American" Akita that is far closer to the original Japanese breed (so named as the breed originated within the Akita Prefecture as a strong and couragous hunting dog) that include the original Tosa and Chow lines. These days the "Japanese" Akita is far more similar to the Sheba Inu than the original Akita.

  • @TorchTheWitch I don't agree. The original akita was mixed with those breeds you said (and some more like german sheperd) durin the end of XIX century and beggining of XX for dog fighting, this is where the american akita comes. The akita inu is a breed recovered from nine selected akita inu which were designated as natural monument due to purity of their breed. So the akita inu is the one closer to the original one

  • @KB1978 You just agreed with what I said... the original Akita - a Japanese dog breed going back centuries - included Tosa, Chow and other breeds to make. It was not until WWII that Japan was down to only a handful of Akitas and re-establishing the breed split into two distinct lines BOTH of which were accepted in Japan as Akitas until very recently. It is ironically what is now known as the "American" Akita that is closest to the centuries old breed . Do the REAL research.

  • @TorchTheWitch Tosa is a diferent breed wich was mixed to akita to get the american akita, not a breed obtained from the akita. You are tellig the opposite or my english makes me understand bad you

  • @KB1978 Furthermore, "akita inu" includes both distinct Akita lines (what is now known as the "American" Akita and the "Japanese" Akita) as the word "inu" in Japanese merely means "dog". The breed name is "Akita" whether it follows the "American" style or the more recent "Japanese" style. Adding "inu" after the breed name only says the Akita is a dog. Additionally, the breed split designating the "American" style and "Japanese" style Akitas did not officially occur until 2006 by the FCI.

  • that mut looked just like mine! i know a lot of them look alike, but wow, that freaked me out

  • so the american akita's are just japanese akita's bred with Tosa Inu's?

  • whats the name of this song?

  • Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. Good information.

  • remind me again why its called the "american" akita..it has nothing american about it nor was it bred in america..they were bred with tosa inu which is a japanese dog and they bred them in japan..so why give it american credit if it had nothing to do with it?? its like saying americans were smart enough to go to the moon...but if it wasnt for german scientist and others around the world they never would have gone...so fuck the kennel club its still and Akita INU(akita inu+tosa inu=big akita inu)

  • @cristohv It is only what the two countries now consider as acceptable breed standard by each ones kennel clubs. All Akitas originated in Japan within the Akita Prefecture centuries ago. Japan just very recently changed their acceptable breed standard cutting out a good deal of the original Akita breed lines that ironically make the "American" Akita much closer to the original Japanese breed.

  • I can't decide, so I'll take one of each: the gorgeous, wild looking brindle Japanese one and the majestic black and white American one! :)

  • good work!!

  • Nice video, but the music does NOT work with either breed of an AKITA!

  • Is it just me or do the Japanese akita's have slanted eyes too :P

  • I love this video. The Enigma song goes great with it. Thank you, but tell me, why are some people soo mean?

  • I have a male japanese akita who we adopted many years ago. We were told he was abused and honestly I don't know why anyone could do such a thing to ANY dog. He is the SWEETEST dog ever and is quite the character!! He's very friendly and protective esp towards my baby. Love him to pieces!!

  • Your grammar is horrid.

  • I have had Two akita's. First was an American Male, Second is a Japanese Female. I noticed a vast difference in temperment between the two. The american male was very aggressive towards both people and animals, the japanese female is the most gentle dog i have ever had towards people (but not towards other animals). The male was raised with me since it was 6 weeks old, but we got the female from the akita rescue league when it was 2, she had been neglected and possibly abused.

  • @pukedragon That doesnt make all American Akitas agressive. We have 4 american akitas and they're all VERY different. One is very reserved, one is agressive to dogs but loves people and especially children, one is very calm, is gentle with puppy's, kids, and likes people and other dogs, and then there's one, 17 weeks old, already being dominant to other dogs. Our first dog was a Shiba Inu, he was the hardest one to handle. I learned Japanese Akitas are more like Shiba's than American Akita's.

  • i have 3 American Akita's i like them the best, but every one as different tastes as long as you bring ANY dog up right it does ant matter

  • uve put really old japeanse ones japeanesa are the best

  • u ar wrong.. !

  • the american akita are a nicer dog

  • HACHI .. RIP..

  • Akita's are the best dogs ever, Hands Down!

  • When I watched the animal planet video on akita they showed these 2 breeds and they didn't bother to explain the difference, which i think was very unprofessional, I'm not american and I didn't know america akita even existed.

Anyway I prefer the japanese akita, not because the other one was crossed with other breeds but because I think it's just more beautiful and elegant.

  • **sigh** nobody bothers to look up the history of the akita do they? look up Goromaru and the ichinoseki bloodline and you will see what Im talking about. The JAI is a a reconstructed breed. The akita breed itself has been mixed since the the Meiji Period (1868-1912).

  • i think they took the Japanese AKITA AND CROSSED IT WITH A ROTTIE TO GET A AMERICAN AKITA

  • the Japanese akita Inu looks like a fox, a sly dog as in also athletic, whereas the American akita is more of a stocky style of the japanese. And also a guard dog and stronger compared to the japanese inu

  • ya i agree with the last comment!

  • FABULOUS VIDEO HOWEVER IT'S NOT ALWAYS TRUE THAT THE AMERICAN IS BIGGER THAN THE JAPANESE, IN SUBSTANCE YES, BUT THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME HEIGHT IN BREED STANDARD.

  • i want both!!

  • i still think the japonease akita are better cuz thats where theyr breed found firt time not in america i have a japonease akita at home and it looks 10 time better than a american one and remember they fight till die

  • @Ganbit2011 there are only one akita and the america own it that other mutt type dog is not a akita

  • @MissCedarbridge1 YOUR A FOOL THE OTHER MUTT TYPE IS THE ORIGINAL AKITA, AMERICANS ARE MIXES OF TOSA, GERMAN SHEPARD, ST BERNARD, AND MASTIFF!! . AKITA INU WAS THE ORIGINAL HUNTING DOG! DO SOME RESEARCH!!! WHY DO YOU THINK THEY USED A JAPANESE TYPE IN THE HACHI A DOGS TALE MOVIE

  • @damienbrennan1 ok what ever just check out my new 2 videos i added on lol

  • @damienbrennan1 old comment is old, but the Japanese Akita almost went extinct in the period before and after WW2. They had to recreate the whole breed to avoid inbreeding. So, both are mutts. The current japanese Akita has a good dose of its cousin in them, stronger than before WW2. Saying either is more mutt than the other is foolish and flawed. The American Akita is just as Japanese as the Japanese Akita. They've even reintroduced the old bloodlines recently.

  • @DemonShuriken Yes the akita inu was also crossed because there were very few pure akita inu's left but they were crossed with purely nordic spitz breeds as these breeds were genetically very close to the original akita inu. The american howevr was bred with german shepherds, tosa's and many other breeds that are not even close to the original akita bloodlines. Therefore the akita inu is the most pure and closest to the matagi inu. This is fact, like I said I do not favour either but state fact

  • I love the look of these dogs, they look very loyal to me, i like that.

  • Bribramley...No maybe you should watch this video again. The American Akita is not just bigger (and thats been pointed out to be bad breeding) I had Americans my mom had the first akita I ssaw and it was Japanese. Sorry huge diff in the head, face and (my personal opinion) the shoulders. I think the Japanese really looks like Shiba Inu, which my son and I both have/had. Different is not a BAD thing. It's a matter of prreference. Me I love the American and admire the Japanese :)

  • If you go back and look at photos of dogs the breed was rebuilt from, during and after WWII, as in the book "Dog Man", for example (the story of Morie Sawataishi, who's perseverance helped bring the breed back from near extinction in that period); you will see dogs that are not as slight as the Japanese Akita, or *quite* as big as some of the larger American Akita. Although clearly, both breeds differ, I think either "side" claiming that one or the other is the "real" Akita-Inu is flawed.

  • Japaneses Akita is way sexier... American one is not that much.

  • Its fucking hard to find some1 which have akitas :(((((

  • i also noticed just because one of the akita's are big you think it is american !!

  • japanese would rip an american akita because japanese akita where special bread to protect the emporer and america akita is not a good dog really it is just a over weight japanese akita !!!

  • cool video, now if my girl would let me a get a dog that sheds!!

  • can anyone help me?? i want an akita and i need information....i live in houston tx...how much are they?? ive looked for breeders in houston but no luck they are in other places

  • That was lovely x gorgeous dogs x I love Akitas xxx

  • Thanks for this upload.

  • WATCH HACI A DOGS TALE TO SEE THE JAPANESE AKITA INU

  • @damienbrennan1

The dogs is hachis tale are tweenies

  • @rosa4523 No the 2 bitches and 1 dog used in the hachi film are all purebred akita inu's. Also the original japanese film used only akita inu's. I own one so im sure its an akita inu. People tend to think they are tweenies as many images of akita inu's are very skinny and without substance. This is bad breeding. Yes they are not as stocky as the American but they should have a substantial build and should be large dogs also.

  • @damienbrennan1

The breeders for the adult dogs is Baycrest akitas and unrock Akitas. They have bred tweenies for years. The only non tweenie was the puppy at the end. Email JACA or the breeders if you dont believe me.

  • @rosa4523 SUNROCK AKITAS

  • @rosa4523 Kathy Coffman on her site Baycrest Akitas clearly states that there are 2 types of Akita Japanese and American. She even shows pictures to emphasize this. Because in America the breed has not been officially split there is still a lot of confusion. The dogs she used in the movie were all in her own words "Japanese types" . Like I said I have the 2 types, I can even send you pics of my 2 dogs if you dont believe me and my Akita inu is exactly the same as the dogs used in the movie.

  • @rosa4523 And if you look at sunrock akitas, all of there dogs are clearly Akita inu apart from one of there dogs "dark side of the moon" whos markings are American but his shape and build is still Japanese. As there is still no official split in the states this is still acceptable but these breeders clearly choose to go for the Akita inu type rather than the American. This is why there dogs were chose to portray Hachi in the movie as he was an Akita inu.

  • @damienbrennan1 In terms of purity they are tweenies. I know the breed is not split here. Im just pointing out that they are often claimed to be pure JAs when they are not. In any FCI country they would not be allowed to show due to the mixing. btw I am not a breed purist. I will always view tweenies as pure akitas.

  • THIS VIDEO DOSENT DO THE JAPANESE AKITA INU ANY JUSTICE. TAKE A LOOK AT AKITA INU PICS AND IT SHOWS THEM IN A LESS BIASED LIGHT.

  • Who is better , American or Japan

  • @blerooon both , 2 be honest :)

  • @blerooon Neither are 'better'. I have both types and they both have good qualities. The Japanese (akita inu) is probably the more beautiful especially the red ones. They are the more pure breed and have very oriental Japanese looking faces. They are the same height but the American type is stockier. Americans are also better gaurd dogs and are more aggressive. They were mixed with other breeds like the mastiff and Tosa to make them better fighting dogs. It depends what you want in a dog.

  • Well done video. Enteraining and informative. Socialization as a puppy is the key to a good Akita.

  • Can someone please tell me how much do Akita's usually cost?

  • @JaMsTeR971

The price for any dog tends to vary according to breed, breeder, and the health quality of a dog. Do a massive amount of research on both the breed and the breeder you are consider purchasing from, and I highly reccomend that you don't buy from random people who place their litters in newspaper ads or on Craigslist. If you do, atleast contact them and ask plenty of questions regarding the pup's lines and health quality.

  • please the song ???

  • @MrDesertgold the song is''return to innocence'' from ENIGMA

  • very nice! My AKITA - KALIB lived 13 tears then had a stroke Oct, 2010. He waited for me to get home , then "gave in" to the medical problem. Awesome dog, i am looking into getting another.I prefer the American Akita . hint...it is not "more longer" or "more wider", just "longer" or "wider". Good job though.

  • The American Akita "type" has no Tosa Inu ansestry. The Tosa was bred from native Japanese dogs (possibly one being the Akita), & mastiff type dogs so that the Japanese would have a bigger & more competitive fighting dog against western breeds. The Akita (Japanese or American "type") is an ancient dog breed.

  • The dog at 41 sec and 1:57 seconds is my dogs great grandfather, Kodiak! He is an awesome representation of the American Akita.. I have to disagree with Maxinpains, the American Akita is fiercly loyal and protective of it's family, I've owned Akita's since 1998. There are reasons why the two have different appearances, read up on the history of the Akita and you'll know why!!

  • Could I keep an akita in florida?

  • @jolseen NOTE: "An akita is not a dog for everyone." We adopted three rescued akitas from ARSF out of Jacksonville. Rescue dogs usually don't have their best paw forward when being photographed; don't let that discourage you.

If you get one, please keep the pup inside. We live in PA, and our furbabies still spend the day in front of an AC sucking down water. During the summer, we usually walk around 5AM and 9PM to avoid the heat.

  • @rohawk001 how bad is the shedding?

  • @jolseen Max and Snow add up to 216 lbs. of fur. If you brush them daily, it wont be "that" bad...unless they are blowing their coats. Then, you can fill a grocery bad or two a day/ dog, especially just after a bath. Yesterday, I thought about placing "Free Fur" a sign in the front yard. Peple say thtat Akitas shed 2x per year. It must be from January to June, and then July to December. In FL, the undercoat will be a bit thinner, but you'll still get a plenty of fur around the house.

  • @rohawk001 I plan on using a furminator to help with the shedding.

  • @jolseen might have to keep him/her inside during the summer... thats what i did with my Akita...

  • they are both the same dog that was the biggest load of bullshit ! you just showed the same supposed "american akita" compared to diffrent photos of the japanese akita

  • check out my akita puppy on my channel

  • do american akita's like attention and are they affectionate and loving dogs?

and are they good for a one-person dog?

  • american ones are soooo adorable :D

  • LOL American Akita runs away from bear attack. Japanese Akita inu goes for it & really enjoys his day of life.

If you like cuddlie teddy bear type go for the American Akita dog. If yo need a real khunting dog Go for Japanese TRUE Akita inu. American Akita dog is bred for fighting dog. but not Bear HUNTING.it doesn't have a guts. I've lost a Good friend because of American Akita did not do what he supposed to do in most critical time.went to close. We've learned from his ultimate mistake....

  • @maxinpains Sorry but this isnt neccesarily true. If anything you have it the wrong way round. I have both the Akita inu and the American. American akitas are much more dog aggresive and make better gaurd dogs. The akita inu is a more gentle and friendly natured dog. The Americans are heavier built as they were mixed with Tosa's and mastiffs etc to make them better fighting dogs. They havent been bred for bear hunting for years but the American in my experience is the more gutsy and fearless dog

  • Comment removed

  • @maxinpains yeah because so many people on youtube go bear hunting with dogs

  • @cmsgtluna

I don't know about that.We always check how many #'s of bears has been taken from F&G 's reportswith Where,What,When,How&it is very rare & very few of us that someone hunts bears with Akita inu in this country.BTW, in most of cases,We all know eachother very well.Who are you really talking about? Could you be more specific?orCould you possibly send me names of the hunters who hunts bears withJapanese Akita whom you are talking about?it would help us to search them in massive scales

  • i bet evrything i owned this song is from a disney movie

  • @nomansland21

    Nah.

  • the japanese akita seems much smaller i own an american akita named ellie she is three and she loves this video lol

  • @benplumn

Yeah, Japanese akita s are more athletic, you mean? Because,They have to dodge the swings of bear'scraws. One or two strikes any dogs you name it should consider it is done deal.I've seen American Akita dog get too closed to the bear without thinking anything.it avoided first strike.. then freezed. that's where domesticated genes kicked in like a little rabbit. they freezes.then good left strike from above..done deal. Japanese Akita's stay keep in distance, see the chances ,Attacks.

  • Im thinking of adopting an akita again, i used to have 2 japanese, but now im thinking of getting an american akita, what is you opinion? are there any differences in the personallity?

  • @bblack21 Get American Akita. It's do the job right & great. You won't go hunting.don't need to. You don't need a Japanese Akita. It's totally different breed. I had many mixed American & Japanese akita too. Nah. came out wrong. everytime. still good for the house & kids though. but not for hunting at all.

  • Two totally different dogs,.

The American type is not real Akita, Those Americans always changing the original.!

  • Akita bloodline is still there!!! American Akitas still have the loyalty, bravery, and the friendship that can't be matched.

  • You showed a lot of overweight American Akitas, just sayin.

  • @chillin80424

American Akita is large. because of Japanese Fighting dog trace form far south of japan called TOSA area. Tosa Dog is large fighting dog. because of that mix came out that way. However, American Akita is not good for hunting whatsoever. It can't run for miles to miles in 500o feet up mountain areas & It freezes when they sees 7-10 feet, 2500 pound or more size bears right infront of them. American Akita is for house & kid & everyday mormal life style. Need lot's of love& walk.

  • not informative at all, and i had to stop watching because your english was so bad i felt dizzy

  • Very informative...thank you!

  • i didnt even know you could get an american akita

  • i didnt even know you could get an american akita

  • american akita* kinda the point of the video sorry

  • i love this video i think the song goes along with the personality of akitas. i have a 4 month old akita and i dont think i could ever own any other breed of dog.

  • I could watch this all day! had two american akitas in our lives and there is no other breed that can compete with the majesty and dignity of this breed. My wife will not let me have another because the pain of loosing our Mika {old age} was too great.

Thanks for an enchanting video. we live in Wales UK by the way.

  • more longer huh?

  • It looks almost human like at 3:14, its scary.

  • The Japanese Akita is the original breed, an ancient bear/boar hunting dog, very athletic, the American Akita was somebodies idea to turn the Akita into a guard dog. Also comparing the 2 is more like comparing the Malamute and Inuit sled dog, both the same dog in general but one is bigger, heavier. Comparing the Siberian husky to the Malamute is apples to oranges, not cupcakes to coffee cakes.

  • The American Akita is more handsome in my opinion. Bearish face and the body of a German Shepherd on steroids. The Japanese is a nice dog, but more foxlike in looks.

  • My mother had a 140-pound American Akita for 11 years. He was a perpetual puppy with the family but always remained suspicious of outsiders. No need to be afraid of bumps in the night with him in the house. RIP, Magnum.

  • love the american akitas!!!

  • japanese akitas ftw!

  • could someone tell me if im right the difference between a japanese akita and american akita is that the american akita is bigger ?

  • EXCELLENT.......im so fed up with people stopping me in the street and asking if my dogs a pitbull.ONLY cuz here in UK pits are banned are as tosas and 2 other breeds! Im away to buy a tee for my dog that says NO im NOT a pitbull!!! LOL!!

  • I SEE you doont know what japanese akita is too.....haha

  • You mean *an Alaskan* bahaha

  • You mean *an Alaskan* bahaha

  • i think japanese akita/akita inu looked better than those of the pics shown here..

  • not gonna lie my akita is like both, shes not a big build has the longer snout, but has many spots and is white with a brown/ tan'ish face and with tan'ish spots, idk face book if you want shibah chismody teske and look.

  • i find the japanese better lookin check my channel for my akitas i have both breeds.

  • I find the American Akita better looking

  • I guess I have an American Akita. =3 I love her.

  • the song name? (:

    btw, nice dogs, love them.

  • wow i didnt know there were brindle akitas o:

  • I just had to put down my 14 year 10 month old male Akita. His name was Captain Nemo and he was the best dog and best freind I could have ever had and I will miss him forever. I got him in the US but he was more of the true japanese variety being slightly thinner in the leg, weighed 120lbs and looked more fox or wolf like. His grandmother and grandfather were true jap Akitas. Nemo was fully brindled with white sox, chest, and white tail tip. I think the two breeds should remain separate!

  • When I first moved up to Alaska in 98' there was a local dog that lived at a gas station named 'Boris'. He was 1/2 Akita and 1/2 TimberWolf. He was a monster. Amazingly awesome. Kids would play with him at the gas station. he would just lay there while the kids climbed on him lol. He was around 165 or 170 pounds. A true gently giant. Sadly he died from old age a few years ago now. When I went to that station I usually had my Akitas in my truck. They would sniff Boris lol.

  • Japanese are bigger! American are short and stubby! The japenese akitas stand taller and can grow a meter above the ground!!! so ha

  • According to the AKC and CKC they are the same breed. Maybe not in other countries, but in North America they are the same breed. Calling them seperate breeds is like calling the longhaired German Shepherd a seperate breed.

  • @MsLabMom Actually they are pretty much separate. Before we even got involved there were 3 types of Akita's. I don't recall the names off the top of my head unfortunately, but there were the originals; which are the Japanese Akita's in this video, and the fighting type Akita's and the German shepherd mixed Akita's. The fighting type Akita's and German Shepherd mixed Akita's eventually merged and became our American type Akita's from this video.

  • @MsLabMom This is why in general, American Akita's are generally more standoff-ish towards people and more dog aggressive. And it also explains their black masks; like the German Shepherd. In essence they are the same breed, but they should be divided. The AKC and CKC are just acting slow, these types have their own unique qualities that should be protected, In my opinion at least. I mean.. It would be unfair to show both these types at the same time... they are so different in body structure...

  • great dogs. great song. great pics. helpful information. I was an Akita breeder but now down to one dog left. I want to pick it up again. Mine are definitely American Akitas going by this video. Mine are black with white chest. I am having the hardest time finding Akita puppies in Alaska. I want to buy a female pup to breed with my last male that I have in my yard. He needs a female companion badly. Anyone know of any Akita breeders near Alaska or in it? Thanks.

  • 1/2 breeds r the go i rekon the 1 i had was the bomb, big an well built like the american father deff had the dads head but was lanky an agile like the mum beautiful dog well tempered around ppl an other animals but sertain wierd or agressive ppl an dogs hed bar up an get defencive big time.. saved my ass twice when i was a kid .. miss that boy

  • HACHI

  • This is a fantastic informative video with great pics

  • my sister and brother in law as a jet black male anerican akita Max he is the best dog hes funny and loves everybody so so goofy lol

  • Most countries have split the Akita and American Akita. Japanese Akitas come in three colors - Red, White, and Brindle. Like many other dogs they come from the same genetic background but over time have split into two distinct breeds. For example in Europe FCI has Akita and American Akita. If you want to learn more about the Japanese Akita look up the Japanese Akita Club of America. Both breeds are awesome dogs.

  • i never knew there were two types of akitas. thank you, with my job, i need to know as much as possible about dog breed, and this clip was very helpful. do you have others like this? i'd like to know the difference between alaskan and siberian huskies.

  • This is a little wrong. American akitas are ok, but japanese or akita inu should be just in white and light brown (almost orange) pattern, not in shades of black like first two dogs...

  • my brother has a brindle american/japanese akita mix named miko.

i freakin love love love that dog. brought him to a restaurant here in athens, ga that have outside patio, so he def got tons of attention. he loves it too. lol

  • american akita!<3

  • I have a Japanese Akita but now watching this video the American Akita looks alot like mine..

  • what are more aggressive american or japanise

  • I have an 11 year old male American Akita. I love him so much. What I want for all breeds of animals are: thoughtful breeders who breed first for temperament; next health; and then breed characteristics; and lastly beauty. A calm, stable, loving family dog who has a comfortable, long life is most important. Both Akitas are beautiful and a good addition for anyone who makes an effort to be informed of breed personality characteristics and makes sure that breed fits ones family.

  • Informative video for those who do not know the difference (America & Canada, I'm looking at you!). I have both an Akita Inu and an American Akita who are both amazing animals but are as different in personality as they are in appearance. The only thing you have wrong is that modern Akita Inu (from the last century or so) are also crossbred with the Tosa (in fact they were the first to be bred with the Tosa). The AA's diff appearance comes from crossbreeding with the St Bernard and the Alsatian.

  • I enjoyed your video very much. I just lost my good friend and Akita of 11 years yesterday. She passed away in my arm's. Her name was baily aka chicken. She was so in love with her people and we will miss her. Thanks for the great video.

  • World War II, dogs in Japan were used as fur for military garments. Police ordered capture of all dogs except German Shepherds used for military purposes. Some tried to save their dogs by breeding Akitas to German Shepherds. When war ended, Akitas existed as 3 types: Matagi Akitas, Fighting Akitas, Shepherd Akitas. Many Akitas of the Dewa line, had characteristics of Mastiff and German Shepherd, were brought to the US by military personnel. Both Akitas originated in Japan by the Japanese.

  • Well I don't mind saying that I think the American type of dog is far more impressive than the original Japanese Akita. The breed was very popular for a while back in the 1980s here in the USA but have fallen out of favor largely because they are very dog aggressive, which is why you seldom see them in dog parks. Beautiful animals though.

  • @JackKangaroo1 theres isnt such thing is american akita because the first akita is japanese and because there wasnt any others that dog made a mixed breed which you guys think there such thing is so called am erican akita when in facts its half bred japanese akita and half breed another breed

  • @vicouswolf Yo, Vicious, there's a thing called "punctuation" and it is used in sentence structure in the English language. It includes a few funny little things like 'commas' and 'periods.' Look into it. As for the Akita question, imported Akitas evolved over time here in the USA due to breeding practices. They are still Akitas but with a different look about them. This has happened in many other breeds also.

  • @JackKangaroo1 its still callede japense akita, unlike you lot that think its a different breed to the normal thinking people its a cross-breed and btw this isnt a serious so ill write as how i write

  • there isnt american akita only japanese people are dumb calling them am erican because they say it was bred there thats dosnt make it american akita
