Jonic 6 is the name Stack Smash gave him. You see there's a pirate game for the SEGA Genesis called "Sonic Jam 6", It is a port of the original Super Mario Brothers but you play as Sonic instead. At the beginning of the real SMB. Mario is small and gets big after eating a Mushroom. But in Sonic Jam 6, Sonic is red and becomes blue after eating a Mushroom. The texture hack in this video is of that red Sonic.

There are a bunch of videos on Youtube that show how to do this, But other than an SD card you need the Homebrew channel installed on you Wii, Gecko OS, And If you want to make your own textures, ASH.

Unless you get custom character portaits or a custom character select screen (like what Brawl+ uses), textures alone should have no effect on the character select screen.

There is no way that using texture hacks can ruin your game. The worst that might happen is the game freezes because the hacked texture is a bigger file than the original texture. And If that happens all you gotta do is turn your game off.
