  • reminds me of part of a song "...riding bareback carefree along the shore..." by natasha betingfield

  • @cowgirlmallory totally!!!! :)

  • nice riding but wheres the gallop?

  • @no1horselover

are you blind? or are you too lazy to watch the whole thing?

  • @KatVanilly hey moron you obviously know shit about horses because if you did youd see that is a canter not a gallop DUH!!

  • @no1horselover dude, canter, gallop, who cares! look at the video for the pleasure and the beauty of it, not for how well the paces were named! silly

  • @no1horselover sorry dude, gallop in french means canter, at the time i was just learning english, so wrote gallop... sorry

  • That looks so fun, but it looks really cold haha =D

  • was quite nice actually! really warm!

    :)

  • Horses were actually made for -40 weather conditions.. Sorry, but it's true. Unlike us, to them.. it's hardly nothing. My horse stays outside unless it's raining, because I don't want him to get rain rot, but he has run in shelters but half the time he doesn't use them.. And being stabled is not comfortable living for a horse. Just saying, it leads to alot of things, like C.O.P.D.

  • You're pretty much right about horses being made for cold weather conditions. the only thing i have to say is that thanks to us breeding them..some horses such as light arabs have quite thin skin, therefore they will find it much colder than horses such as cobs...if you get me?

  • But thats because of us, if they lived in their natural habitat/country and we didn't bring arab horses around into the cold weather, there wouldn't be a worry. ha ha They were made for the Arabian heat. Not cold weather. But as far as i'm concerned I've never seen a horse happier than when it is outside. It really maked a difference on a horses quality of life on whether you decide to keep your horse indoors or outdoors.

  • thats a really cool vid, 5 stars! but hate to tell ya but that was not a gallop that was a canter; or lope if you will. have to admit though, i cant ever stay on when i canter, let alone stay on cantering in the water! good job!

  • yeah tis a canter! do admit! but i put galop so that my french friends could find it easily (galop in french means canter in english! ;)

  • Congratulations, Alice, for an excellent ride!

Right from the beginning one can see: you have a very safe seat and perfect balance!

Thus you even survive without any difficulty, when your horse stumbles.

Staying on in such a situation shows an experienced rider - well done!

  • thank you for such a flattering comment! it's all in our understanding between princess and me! some people think bareback riding is hard but in fact it's really easy once you understand each other! ;)

    all the best heinzstoffregen!!

  • instead of holding on to the horse with them, you get a bit wobbly when it shies or something, but yeah, the idea is not to grab on to the horse with your legs but to just sit on it and balance. maybe try in a round-pen first? also take a rope and tie it around the horses neck, or hold onto the main with one hand and the reins with another. i rode her without bit, and i had trained her so knowing her every detail did help a lot! let me know how you go! good luck!

    cheers Horseluvaxx

    Alice

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! you have been the best help yet!

  • that was cool, how did you get so good, you look so fluid. Please tell me how i can get better and feel balanced, i'd really love to do what you do!

  • awh what a nice comment for a change! ;)

well, unfortunately i'm not all that good anymore due to a couple bad falls, however, when i was riding like that, i used to go outdoors and trail ride a LOT bareback, mainly up and down hills, i'd gallop up hill, because it's actually really easy to hold on. the faster the horse is going, the easier it is to stay on.

i found that the easiest way to balance is to stick your legs out,

  • lol, minus the trip, that looked like sooo much fun!! love your horse.

  • IT WAS THE BEST TIME IN MY LIFE!!!! thanks for the comment! :)

  • aww yeh it looks like amazing fun!! ive galloped on a beach b4 but it was on a random horse in france! i would love to do it ith my horse becasue i have a gr8 bond wiv herx

  • Your horse is beautiful! It looked like you and your horse had a great time.

  • thanks Casiesays! i had an absolutely great time that day, and i don't hink i'll ever find such a good horse again!

we seem to be on the same wave when it comes to horses!

  • yes i confirm, what you just said makes no sense... lol

  • i really had the time of MY LIFE!!!!! (she loved it as well!!)

  • Well, they do get more than huddling together (haha, never heard that term before) but I mean when it gets past -30 we feed 50% or more hay than their body heat. Like if you look at my vids they don't look that bad of shape except for being a lil' fat...

  • I don't board at a stable, and other horses share body heat. Like come on, think a little Miss Priss. But, whatever...my horses live in better conditions that most I've ever seen. And the horses that need extra attention and stabling do get it. So whatever, I'm done arguing with you because it's obvious, you need to learn a little more than what you think you already know.

    Good day.

    Jo.

  • horses that live like yours and mine a healthy happy and very strong horses! the horses that are pampered, and very commonly aggressive, unreliable and allways fragile horses... i choose my -20C mare compared to any olympic horse... any horse that lives in stables is unhappy to a certain degree , because it's unnatural.. they'd rather run around in the freezing snow for all they care!!

  • Haha, news to you, they are more than comfortable. I don't live on no hobby farm. It's called a working ranch. And another news flash I am underage for a job. And they do have adiquit shelter amongst the forest and other horses.

  • Haha -20 F w/o shelter is bad??? My horses live out in -40 to -50 degrees Celcius in winter with trees for shelter. You feed more hay to them. It is natural for horses to live in harsh conditions in comparison to a heated barn eating oats and mash. It's not abuse either, because are they starving no, are they dead and/or dying no. They are takin care of and are happy so what gives?

  • ah at last someone that understands what a horse is really about!!

    thank you "moving pictures"!!!

  • It's true. Shit happens, horses trip, but if you want to get all "shit talk" you should check out Cross Country jumping. Having a horse trip in water id NOTHING compared to tripping over a 4foot or more jump. Even if the horse would of fallen in this video, It would be very unlikely that the horse got hurt. Freak accidents CAN happen, what this rider did was really not bad, maybe should of stayed away from the "wave groves" but honestly, nothing to call her abusive for. Check out XC, you'll see

  • LOL you're ridiculous poor person!!! i feel sorry for you! (taliaa070)

I had the time of my life and she did too.... everybody trips over from time to time, are ou going to tell parents with a kid learning to walk, that falls over, that they don't deserve to have that kid.. HA! POOR you, you must lead a very misrable life to have nothing better to do with your time... awh well i don't cre.. tough luck for you!

    regards

    Alice

  • the biggest danger is the soft spots that happen right near the edge of the surf...as was seen when this horse almost took a serious tumble. Be careful and ride safe on the sand part not IN the water.

  • thank you for your "caution" message. it is the little ridge that is formed when the "waves" crash at the shore that made her trip. as far as cantering in the water is concerned, there was no imminent danger there, and both the horse and i had a great time, so thank you for your message, but if the occasion presents itself again, i would very happily go cantering in the water again!

    have a merry xmas!

  • Hey, live dangerously and enjoy!! Happy Holidays.

  • @artsyhorse AMEN!!! :)

  • I agree, and the fact that she was holding a little too tightly to the reigns did not help the horse either. The horse needs the freedom of its head in order to prevent serious injury from occuring and to have better balance so that it may watch itself and its footing, and if it starts to get out of hand on her, all she has to do is the one reign stop.

  • @lonewolfintheprowl hehehe, well for your info, there was actually a small ridge of sand there, so she couldn't have seen it anyways, and also, there was a guy fishing 100m further, and she has no bit in her mouth, so need a little more force, added to the fact she's a PRE x arabian, and when you let go of the reins, she bolts. so yeah, quite the contrary, me holding them tight pulled her hear out of the water, kept me on, and avoided her falling over... all ended well... ;)

  • just b careful

    if a horse drinks saltwater

    tis bad concoction

  • LOL! i must admit that i really don't care! its not a sip of water that would have killed her! she was living in the alpes, outside without any shelter even when it was minus 20 degrees.. i don't think that swallowing abit of salt water would have killed her! LOL any other ridiculous comment to make? LOL! BIG LAUGH!!!

  • im just makin a statement.

    not saying shes dying there

    calm down

  • lol, no worries mate!

  • k cool

so do u liv near this beach?

    (always wanted to do this)

  • kind of, this was filmed in france before comming back here in oz. i had been living there for 5 years, i was living in the alps, high up in the mountains. that was the last ride i did before leaving my Princess to a friend. who lives in the

  • 2ND PART OF MESSAGE

south of france.( couldn't bring her here unfortunately...). that had been my dream from a very long time ago, and my Big Girl (princess)made it come true... it was totally illegal, but people where just soooo happy to see a totally white horse and a girls gallop bare back without a bit on the beach!! it was just magnificent!!!! (i saved her from the butchers!!! twas worth it!!) what do you do? ride ?own?

  • i ride my qh mare, 5, sorrel, gamer. i own her (grace) and her baby sunny, hus only eight months old now and is a buckskin brat. i luv her tho lol

so is ur horse w/ u nw?

  • no she's stayed in france ;( breaks my heart each time i say that!!!!

i am looking to buy one here, but i just don't seem to find the same sort.... I LOVE HER!!! just can't get over her for now....awh well.... where do u live?

  • It actually pretty easy to gallop bareback, because the rythm is heaps softer and smoother.

Just the only thing on a beach is that the horse can trip.

    Look like fun! =]

  • yeah it is really easy, the harder thing is keeping your eyes open with all the water splashing into them ! LOL, but it was GREAT FUN!!! i loved it!!!

  • lol yeah i did! i think WE nearly fell to tell you the truth! ... awh well we're both safe and sound

  • almost fell at the end ! carful!

  • I wouldn't take the video off. That would be my goal to ride my two horses on the beach and in the ocean like you did. You definetly are a good rider. How long did it take you to train your horse to ride in the ocean? Some horses freak out just being on the beach and stepping thier hoofs in the ocean. The sea does something to them "vertigo"....Anyway, I liked your video.

  • hi, i got her used to swimming in a lake where there are people who do water skiing.. so sheš used to waves... the lake is around 17 degrees so a 24 degrees water in a sea was just fine by her, she was pulling me in. where are your two horses?

  • My horses are in Newcastle, California. I have a small river that flows through my property and I take my horses down and swim with them too. Some times they get a little nervous but they do go in the river with me and they are fine. I was told the ocean is different for some horses and they can freak out. The ocean is about 6 hours from where I live. I do plan on taking them and I will see how they do.

  • you just lived my dream hah riding on a beach + in the water :o

  • was mine too! was mine too... and i had the time of my life...

  • beautiful horse!i wish i had a horse and could go ride on the beach!

  • yeah she is great! i really love her! do you imagine, i saved her from the butchurs!

  • thank you, the princess had a great time, she was pulling me into the water!!! and me too, it was 23 degrees ( the water) and she unfortunatly tripped on the sudden rise in the sand that there is just before the shore... but she handdled it very well and i managed to stay on... happy ending!!! i sencerely had the time of my life!!!

  • That looks like so much fun! :) You are a very good rider and handled that really well.

Princess looked like she was having fun. :)

  • ye well done makng yor horse fall
