Mike Tyson, greatest of all time? Yeah riiiiiggghhht. Not even in the Top 10. You don't get to be #1 or even Top 10 when you lose to journeymen like this and the best HW you ever beat is ... Michael Spinks!!!!
Personally the worst video to watch as a Tyson fan. IGood fight by buster, very lucky in the 8th some ref's would have counted him out, and somehow managed to get up on the 10 count and find fortune in the end of the round. Terrible to see as a tyson fan,
not the only the worst night of his life but the end of his legacy and any chance of being in the top ten of great heavyweights. Holyfield and Lewis just finished off what Douglas started
Yeah, well done!..You said 'Buster gets kissed' and WTF?
And you try and turn that on me?...Get fucked!...You admit your own error then try and turn it on me?...You have to be retarded?..Surely!......Not even a retarded guy would try and defend a statement as obvious as that?...But well done if you do!...The world must hail the biggest cunt seen since Pamela Anderson shut her legs!
@MrTivert ...there is no error.....buster does get kissed.....just reporting the facts...i do not need to defend anything....it is there to see as fact......i make no opinion or judgement to the kiss....and what you consider to be "turned on you".....is only because you over-reacted in your comment ...added drama ....became flamboyant........oh snap snap girlfriend.....its ok.....there is nothing wrong with the homosexual tendencies you have, only the fear to not embrace your freak flag tivert.
@drys15012345678901 Another thing. Mike Tyson nevergot up from a knocked down to win a fight, like Joe Louis, Ali. Even Joe Frazier, when knocked down by Foreman, kept getting up. These fighters had heart, something Tyson never had.
Mike Tyson: One of the most overrated heavyweight champs ever. It's easy to look good when you're knocking out bums who're afraid of you. Once guys like Douglas, Evander Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis stood up to him you found out what he was about.
I don't get why you have highlighted 2:29 as WTF???
Is it because one of the Douglas camp kissed Douglas?.....Men do this in other sports every week, but it probably says more about your ridiculous homophobia than anything else. You wouldn't have dared to challenge Douglas about it, so stop being such a dick!...Moron!
@MrTivert ...hey tivert.....all i said was buster gets kissed......i never made any comment other than that....but you seem to have trouble with homophobia to bring it up.....and add to that you referred to me as a "dick"....another penis reference.....i suggested you are not only homophobic and more than likely anal retentive but you are a retard as well. ..do you have a psych degree from Walmart?....go watch some wrestling vids or gladiator movies you dipshit...
@MrTivert ."Men do this in other sports every week". If it's done that often, you should have some video evidence you could present to substantiate your claim. However, you don't because you don't know what you're talking about.
@capitalismforme Really?....Do you really want to upload the endless videos of Fabian Barthez being kissed on the forehead by Laurent Blanc? Yes, it does happen mostly in football and rugby, but i have seen it in boxing too...I haven't made an issue out of it because it doesn't bother me!
I think everyone has a right to their own sexuality, and rightly so!
But if you google Barthez and Blanc you will know it's not uncommon for sportsman to do this.Only a homophobic would be bothered!!!! ;)
@MrTivert firstly, I never stated my opinion therefore you're being highly presumptuous in your assertion. Maybe you're gay. Tell me, what would happen if he whipped his dick out and stuck it up his ass? Would silly us complaining about that be just another case of being "homophobic" in your book? You stated it happens in boxing all the time. Even though every boxing match is video taped, you can't recall another boxing match in which it happens and have to use a different sport as an example.
Respond to this video... BTW, there's a huge difference between being kissed on the forehead and being kissed on the mouth. I personally think you're gay because of your rigorous defense of the action. Maybe you're hetrophobic.
Tyson himself was in invariably very honest about his place in the boxing pantheon and deeply knowledgeable about other fighters. After the fight with Holmes he said Holmes in his prime would easily have beaten him. I believe vintage Holmes, Ali, Frazier and Foreman also would have. Tyson vs. the prime Sonny Liston circa 1960 would have been a fascinating match-up. Liston
was an aging fighter when Ali destroyed him, though the ease with which Ali did it was simply beyond comprehension.
it wasn't those fighters who beat tyson it was the punch and grab tactic which should be illegal in boxing. tremendous reach disadvantages could be dealt with by tyson. that being said tyson didn't have a whole lot of stamina
remember this one tyson always had problems with bigger fighters taller a prime larry holmes might do the same thing to tyson i always thought he could get knocked out by any version of george foreman but we will never know
@Boriqua8708 They did try to get a rematch but Douglas's camp didnt want to do business with Don King .. Which I think was an excuse to dodge him because they knew for sure, Tyson woulda won his title back so they gave it to Holyfield who wasnt feared as much of a threat at that time but boy, were they wrong.. Buster got his ass knocked out LOL
Then Tyson went to prison.. N by the time he got out.. Buster was a nobody.. Actually he was a nobody before Tyson went to prison so was no point then
@561buRnz407 Just to be clear: none of those fighters were great heavyweights. The best fighters Tyson fought were Holyfield and Lewis. They both KOd Tyson.
dude its not so much that douglas was better but it was buster NEEDED THIS i mean NEEDED THIS bad, buster had trained hard his mothers death gave him such confidence and motivation, all tyson was thinking about is winning and fucking whores, busters career wouldnt b anything without this and thats why he got it. in this case douglas was the better fighter. messed up thing is that don king bet against tyson....... so there was something up.... notice how fat tyson was also, not ur average mike ty
I can watch this video over and over and still not believe my eyes. I was only six years old and Tyson was like a god to me at this time and I cried when he got knocked out for the first time.
tyson was good..but was a bully..he was around when the heavyweight division was weak..i dont think he would of dominated the division when ali was younger..joe frazier.george foreman.jimmy ellis.ernie shavers.ron lyle.larry holmes.ken norton...them guys would not of been scared of tyson..even if cus would of still been around to guide him..he would not of dominated the 70s era boys..iron mike was good..but not that good..he was far from the greatest..
@rottweilerfromhell bro he beat larry holmes, and tony tucker and those guys were not "no bodys" i will admit he beat holmes when he got older tho holmes put up a descent fight up until round 5
All the Tyson fans can say if he would've trained harder, he would've won. Fact is, he didn't. If he really was the legend you say he is, he would've cared enough to train hard. Bottom line, Douglas beat Tyson.
@toadman842 What the shit?! LOL hold your fucking horses there, I never said or agreed to anything like that, my previous comment was stated towards someone and something else if you want to talk shit on the internet, reply to the right person at least lol.
Here's Doc Wyomings poetry Doc the douchbag thinks he knows all about tyson and boxing but here's his interests in life: About Me: I'm looking for a vampire girl to darken up my netherworld she'd sleep all day awake each night to fill my heart with ghoulish delight with a vampire girl life would be so fine we;d burn black candles and drink red wine she'd treat me right and never be mean and every day would be Halloween! with my vampire girl!
Buster Douglass exposed Mike Tyson for the fraud he was. Tyson was a small heavyweight with limited skills. Every single time he fought someone who would actually hit him back, he lost: Douglass, Holyfield, Lewis. After 1988, Tyson was shot.
@Coachwkr Excellent points all around. Tyson ducked the best: he ran from Mercer, Holyfield, Lewis, Foreman... but he was always raring to go against people like Bruce Seldon or Carl the Truth Williams.
@DocWyoming Wait a minute,I got it!! Doc the douchbag was a warped fetus when tyson was the best since ali! hey douchbag, you're too fucking young to go back of 1990.He's back,it's Doc Wyoming the douchbag!!!!
@fadethetrade Hey, I got it: you know jack shit about boxing, you weren't even around to see these fights in the first place! Hey, look, everyone here has schooled you!
Any idiot or retard can watch this fight and see a lethargic ,disinterested tyson from round 1.Tyson was tired of being sooo goood and he was tired and drained from all the killing they did to him in the damato trainng camp.Tyson was a 3 yr. great fighter for 3 yrs, thats all.Even the great angelo Dundee quoted that tyson got "empty early".dumb asses who think otherwise.
Tyson would probably have continued winning if he stayed with his original trainers and trianing routine, even though Cus had died that other trainer was still with him, as soon as he left him it was downhill.
@teleman84 what a stupid skewed comment.Absolutely no relevence.Typical of idiotic people who think they have some knowledge of boxing ,only to make remarks as skewed as this and comments as a monday morning quarterback. When tyson was molding into the top 3 of all time, you were still a warped fetus in your bitch of a mothers womb!!!!
to me in my opinion Douglas will always be the only person that really beat the real Mike Tyson, those other guys Holy Field & Lenix Lewis didn't beat Tyson in his prime, like the commentary said the greatest upset in boxing history.
I think this fight was fixed for Douglas to win bcuz when Tyson knocked em down in round five, the ref was counting and got to nine, Douglas wasn't all the way up yet. The ref had paused for a minute, Tyson was suppose 2 win that fight.
@MrDweber1980 you fucking moron. Watch the fuckin fight. Douglass fucking WRECKED tyosn practically every fucking round. Tyson didn't even know what was going on after he got knocked down. Tyson wasn't "supposed" to win shit in this fight. How was it fixed you fucking retard?
@kmesprtan no, we don't all know who would win a rematch you fuckin retard. And how can you profess to know yourself? Tyson was overated aand he got knocked the fuck out.
he barley trained for the fight was drunk and had women over the night before...he faced 4 tougher opponents prior to this fighter and beat them all with ease...boxing was dead to tyson after cus and jacobs died and kevin rooney left him...he just did it for the money when 1990 came around...a focused 1986 tyson wouldve fucked douglas so bad
I loved watching this fight tyson was outclassed, and what makes it sweeter is all the tyson fans who complained about bruno holding and calling him a pussy in their second fight should re-visit this fight because all tyson did was hold!
what was a shame was tyson's corner - they didn't even have an ice pack much less the proper equipment or knowledge to help him out between rounds, shit, they filled a condom with cold water to 'heal' his wounds
would have could have means nothing, when destiny calls you better be ready as there can be no excuses, tyson has never defeated a great champion or avenged any losses, he is a mentally weak pathetic individual who would have been destroyed by any fearless fighter , look at how is wife humiliated him on tv and he sat there like a house husband,
Tyson was great in his prime but i wouldn't say he was the best ever. But everyone has there favourites Joe Fraiser is one of my all time fave's he had a devasting punch and one of the all time rivalries with the great Ali
@sportsfanatik99 Tyson lost that one fair and square. The man himself admitted it and gave Buster credit. That is more telling of the measure of Tyson - to admit that had just didn't have it that night and to congratulate Douglas on a great fight. What a man.
Boxing wise, Tyson was a diminished mockery of himself that day, it was only a matter of time that someone got him.
i hate it when people that never been into one physical altercation speak of boxer as if they knew what was going on so what if tyson was beat he wuz still the best during his era point blank
So wait, if I have never worked for the IRS, I can't say anything about my taxes? That's a stupid assertion you just made. If someone studies the fight game, they can make an educated analysis of a boxer. I guess that means we all better shut up about this economy because nobody here has ever been an economist and we damn sure better not say anything about troops in Iraq or Afghanistan because most of us haven't been to war...yeah, good logic buddy
@GeorgeVreelandHill well, Cus wasn't really the guy who kept Tyson in line. There's a book out about Tyson from and the info is from interviews from him, and Teddy Atlas. When Tyson would get out of line, Cus would't do shit to straighten him out. The person who was really holding Tyson together was Kevin Rooney until Don King came into the picture. If anyone is to blame for Tyson's downfall, its that fucker Don King.
Don King mindfucked Mike Tyson. But to make Mike Tyson out to be some puppet easily manipulated only FURTHERS my point that you really can't consider the man to be the G.O.A.T. He didn't have it all together and this ass-whoopin' was just a matter of time. If not Douglas, it would've been Holyfield. No man is invincible...and beating Jesse Ferguson, Quick Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker, Mike Spinks, and Trevor Berbick doesn't make Mike invincible either.
@GeorgeVreelandHill Ali would have beat Tyson at this prime. So would have Holmes. Foreman would have beaten Tyson when Foreman was in his 40s! Lewis would have beat Tyson at any time, and Tyson ran from him in 1996. Holyfield would have beaten Tyson any time in Holy's prime, and Tyson ran from him too. Hell, Ray Mercer would have beaten Tyson.
@GeorgeVreelandHill what planet you from mate?! Best fighter ever? Never!!! He was too gutless just ask the guys that hit him back Lennex, Douglas, Holyfield were the only fighters to hit Tyson back on his prime and they all have something in common.
@DocWyoming Tony Tucker, Razor Ruddock (One of the top 10 hardest hitting heavyweights), Larry Holmes (Dont say he was old cuz he fought a whole 90s decade and he went the distance with Holyfield in early 90s, Frank Bruno twice (Say what you want but he became champion after tysons first loss so he wasnt bum), Michael Spinks (People considered him the Peoples Champ and ppl demanded that match, Reason why it generated millions)
@561buRnz407 Tony Tucker was the best fighter he beat. Tony broke his hand in the fourth round, and still went the distance, winning 4-5 rounds. That's Tyson's best victory. He also destroyed Spinks, who was a great light heavyweight. That's really it. Rudduck hit hard, but he wasn't a great fighter. Holmes WAS old against Tyson, he rejuvenated and renewed his career years later. Bruno SUCKED! Now compare Holyfield or Lewis' title runs... no contest, both much better.
@DocWyoming Lewis & Tyson fought a past prime Tyson.. ESPECIALLY Lewis.. I give Holyfield more credit for his Ws though, Even though he fought dirty in both fights..
But who did Holyfield really beat? He damn near fought all the ppl Tyson fought who ''arent great heavyweights'' as you say, So as Lewis
@561buRnz407 Lewis fought a past prime Tyson because Tyson REFUSED to sign a contract in 1996. Go watch Tyson Lewis 1984, for more. As for Holyfield, Tyson paid out 2 million dollars in contract violation fees for not meeting Holyfield in 89-90. Seeing a pattern? When they finally fought years later, it was HOLYFIELD who was considered past his prime! He struggled against Bobby Czyz! He was a 20-1 underdog! C'mon!
Holyfield beat Foreman, who Tyson ran from. Holyfield beat Mercer, who Tyson ran from. Holyfield beat Bowe once, who Tyson managed to avoid. Holyfield beat Moorer, another hard hitter that Tyson somehow avoided. Seeing a pattern yet? Holyfield also met up with Lewis and put up a MUCH better fight in a losing effort, than Tyson did. Holyfield and Lewis fought a WHO's Who list of boxers. Tyson RAN from then all!
@561buRnz407, bellend. How Bowe chucking his WBC belt in the bin and vacating the title so he didn't have to fight Lewis somehow means Lewis was ducking, well, only a twat like you could think that. In the late 80s Lewis was only a few fights in to his career, moron. Not ducking Tyson at all. I see you've conveniently ignored that in 1996 Lewis was Tyson's WBC mandatory - but Tyson shat himself, paid Lewis to step aside, gave up the WBC belt so he could fight Seldon instead.
Many have claimed it the biggest upset in the history of championship boxing I wish I could see some peoples reactions from back then or maybe some news coverage from the time being. I mean experts and close followers were saying it was an even bigger upset then the 1980"Miracle on Ice" when U.S.A beat Russia.
if you look at 1:00 of this video..... Tyson lures his head in and charges at him. He did this through most of the fight. That led alot of people at that time to believe (myself included) that Tyson was paid to take a dive.
He would never dip down like that and not follow up with a hook or something. Obviously he wasnt training and took this fight way too lightly, but seriously.... WTF? Buster Douglas had more of a chance of flying than beating mike tyson.
@cougarfighting@WanderleiSilva29 Oh shut the fuck up you fucking moron. "Take a dive?" Fighters who take a dive DO NOT take shots like THAT. That was a beating he took all fight long, especially the last barrage . It's just retards like you who think tyson was invincible or something, and that it was impossible for him to fucking lose. People like you don't know SHIT about boxing and should be shot for being so fucking retarded.
he was dipping down and trying to come up with uppercuts but douglas timed it so as tyson dipped down he caught a punch before he could come back up with a hook or uppercut. and every time he came up douglas just tied him up anyway so he couldn't do anything.
@WanderleiSilva29 Oh shut the fuck up you fucking moron.
After the loss to Douglas Tyson never once asked for a rematch. I know his groupies will say otherwise but he didn't. Douglas Vs Tyson II would have been a massive money spinner but Tyson never wanted it...he knew his style made him to order for Douglas.
It's an exaggeration, obviously, but they could have rematched a week after and Tyson probably would have KO' him within 5. He didn't take the bout seriously, and tired himself out early.
@toadman842 Fuck off you pleb. Are you actually trying to say Buster Douglas is a better than Iron Mike? Tyson barely trained for this fight. He was out on the piss and gambling in the build up. If Tyson actually trained Buster would have been sparked out early.
@EngIishContingent he did want a rematch but buster lost the belt to holyfield so his first priority was get his belt back and after that he had to go to jail. And buster stopped boxing then. The facts are a trained and prepared tyson would easily beat douglas.
Camp 1 believe he fought no quality fighters that's why he looked great and when faced quality fighters(Lewis,Holyified) he lost and wasn't great.
Camp 2 believe early years he was great & lost it when his 1st trainers were gone & he linked up with King,
You choice for yourself what U want to believe but read the post of mine about Michael Spinks and Holmes & watch for yourself was Tyson's speed, endurance & defense the same in mid 80's compare to 90's ?
People seem to forget Michael Spinks only lost once and beat Holmes who was 48-0 when Holmes was 34 years old, Tyson faces Spinks a few years later and what was it 88 seconds to KO Spinks ass ?Think about it. That Tyson of early years was great, then came the dark times for Tyson, Robbin Gives, Don King and lost of the people who train him to fight like a great fighter and it was over for him, the better fighters who were talented like Lewis and Holyfield were too much for a lesser trained Tyson
@Tampa370 SO WHAT? all boxers and all people for that matter go through "dark times" as you put it. Tyson was overated. He lost to the greats he fought, and the not so greats like douglass
george foreman lost to ali ali lost to frazier lennox lost to rahman tyson loses to douglas. this does not mean they are losers. it means that any great fighter can lose on a bad day to someone on a good day
Ali, Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Foreaman... Those five "champions forever" was absolutely great, Foreman loose vs Ali, or Ali loose vs Frazier, it's not bad.
Lewis loose vs Rahman (nobody) or Tyson versus and Douglas (nobody) it's different.
Ummm...if you're comparing Lewis' loss to Rahman...he put him to sleep in their rematch. Tyson never fought Douglas again. Tyson got smoked by the two contemporaries of his era in three different fights.
tyson's didn't train 'for real it's the reason why he left kevin rooney because he wanted to party and enjoy being champion. Tyson 1985-1989 in his real prime could beat any human being.(btw tyson got knocked down in sparring before this fight if your not retarted you should now he wasn't prepared at all.
That's not what Tyson said before the fight! He claimed he was in the "best shape of his career" and he weighed in at his usual fighting weight. If Tyson was as good as some claim he should have been able to beat a bum like buster Douglass with his eyes closed.
Get off his dick you fucking homo...Douglas was a bum. If Tyson was as good as his groupies make out he should have been able to beat a second rate fighter like Douglas drunk and with his eyes closed.
Yes your right Tyson wasn't that good after he fired kevin rooney and stopped caring about boxing. Just like every pro boxers would suck if they stopped training for real. He still managed to knock a man out who was prepared for 100% and was mentally superior for just losing is mom. Facts are Tyson with rooney= conditioned, skilled and nearly impossible to hit were after he fired rooney he was slow, tired after 3 rounds and just wild punching without headmovements and combinations. Just watch it
Based on what??? He looked great fighting a bunch of stiffs. He had trouble against Quick Tillis! Tony Tucker gave him trouble. These aren't great fighters. Tyson fought two all-time fighters somewhere near their prime...Holyfield and Lewis. He went 0-3. He was 23 against a journeyman in Buster Douglas and got WAXED. It's just illogical for him to be considered a top-5 all-time heavy
Go look at those fighters again, some were Oiympic Metalist, Tony Tucker had career 59-7, Frank Bruno had a pretty good record too.
When Tyson was in his early years had awesome handspeed and defense, he lost his edge later in his career, even if his later career started early for most. You don't see the connect from what he was before losing his orginal trainers to afterwards ? He lost it, didn't train which was obvious in endurance in later rounds and late of combinations.
Early Tyson KO Holmes, ony person to do so. Also beat Michael Spinks who beat a 34 Holmes, KO Spinks in so many seconds. There are some out there think Tyson of Early years was the same as the one who fought in the 90's, not true. Just watch the man move back in the day compared to 90's. It's like two different people.
Spinks was a great lightheavy but not much of an Heavyweight. Both his victories over an aging Holmes were dull affairs..and I think Holmes won one of them but got screwed.
The facts are this, Tyson got owned in his prime by a every average fighter in Douglas, it wasn't even close either Douglas won virtually every round. That fight was the first time Tyson was tested and he failed. he had no answer to Douglas's jab and didn't seem to have any plan B.
Amen. Holmes was a great fighter, but he wasn't going to knock people out. So Spinks had a chance to win when a fight you just described accurately...dull. And I still think Holmes won both fights. People forget the adage "Styles Make Fights"...it's how Norton could get blown away by Foreman, but give Ali FITS three times, and how Ali could completely outsmart Foreman in Zaire. Tyson never made adjustments. He either won on intimidation or got frustrated by top-level guys.
Was Tyson the only fighter to have problems outside of the ring? Ali had two divorces, death threats from the KKK and the American government on his back. But he always stayed focuses and got on with the job in the ring. If Tyson couldnt do that then that marks him down as a fighter.
@cbaldwinjr He never had trouble with quick tillis and tony he easily won on points against both of them. However holyfield had real problems against lesser fighters like alex stewart who almost ko'ed him or lennox lewis who got knocked out twice by crappy fighters. Also holyfieldd and lennox both had miracle cuts when they were losing the fight they won by cuts.
That's not true at all. Quick Tillis was a journeyman and he gave Tyson trouble. Holyfield's fight against Stewart was close, but he was no where NEAR hurting Holyfield. And WTF is a 'miracle cut'? Holyfield didn't beat Tyson on cuts...he knocked him out and then won when Tyson bit him twice. Lewis knocked Tyson into self-described 'bolivion' (lmao). Tyson only fought two all-time heavies and got KO'd by both. And if Rahman and McCall are 'crappy fighters'...what does that make Danny Williams?
I meant both holyfield and lennox had fights with other fighters wich they were losing all the rounds but won with a cut wich stopped the fight. And tyson after the spinks fight fired his old trainer and he went out partying and not training for real. Tyson's prime is in 85-89 this was with kevin and he would have easily beaten holyfield and lennox then. BTW quick tillis never gave tyson trouble tilles was easily outscored and even knocked down once. The only thing he did was run and hold tyson
Based on what? How can you just make that claim...Tyson didn't fight the caliber of Holyfield or Lewis during that time AND Holyfield was the #1 contender for about a year and a half after the Spinks fight. King knew he was the only legit threat and didn't fight him. You can't just make baseless claims like that. The fact is...no one has their prime end at 22 and is considered and all-time fighter. NO ONE! Tyson was a blazing comet that flamed out...but he's not an all-time fighter
First of all don king doesn't know anything except how to make money, he's the one who ruined tyson. Prime tony tucker>lewis, tyrrel biggs=lewis even akinwande was outscoring lewis. And lewis>holyfield. A prime holyfield was having trouble beating nobody's and when he buffed up with steroids of whatever he still had problems with alex stewart and a very crappy tyson.
Thanks man. It's not like FACTS mean anything to Tyson lovers, but whatever. Anyone who says, "facts are a trained and prepared tyson would easily beat douglas." is an idiot. You can't take your opinion and make it fact. But I can take FACTS and make opinions off of them. FACT: Mike Tyson fought two all-time fighters somewhere near their prime...he is 0-3 against them. FACT: Mike Tyson quit not once, but twice against fighters named Danny Williams and KEVIN MCBRIDE (a fight I was in DC to see).
@cbaldwinjr fact is tyson fought differently after 1988.Fact is tyson walked in stationary and forced clinches, fact, tyson became a head hunter after 1988,fact,tyson already looked beatable vs bruno 1989,fact,bruno should have finished off tyson in that first round.fact ,tucker ko'd douglas and douglas looked good like here.fact, tyson was never fighting in the same focus and tenacity since 1988.
What's your point? Great fighters should only be enhanced by their corner, not dependent. I can't be told any different that Ali would've been Ali if someone other than Angelo Dundee was in his corner. Joe Frazier would've been great with someone besides Yank Durham. All this crap about Rooney is just that...crap. If he had LEARNED anything, he could've applied it beyond one man. How many fights does one need to master a style? He lost because he wasn't the better man. PERIOD!
@cbaldwinjr douglas that night was the better man.Tysons style of dmaato peekaboo consisted of defensive first/offensive perpetual motion. You need a new pair of glasses if you believe this tyson was the same tyson that outpointed tucker,ko'd biggs,ko'd holmes ko'd tubbs and ko'd spinks.I can't help you if you believe this tyson who walked stationary with his head held high was the same tyson.Good luck in life.
Haha...wow, good luck in life huh? Well thanks, I'm doing alright for myself. How about giving DOUGLAS some credit...maybe Tyson wasn't doing all that stuff because for ONCE in his professional life, someone else had HIM reacting? Tyson was moving, feinting and certainly not just coming straight ahead with his head held high. There was just someone bringing the wood when he did. Bobby Czyz gave Holyfield credit for catching Tyson coming in in '96...Douglas was the blueprint though
@cbaldwinjr Thru hindsight, his record at the damato camp was impeccable and flawless and he beat tucker ,who ko'd a fit douglas.I believe as angelo dundee has said ,that tyson became "empty early". He became a head hunter not throwing combinations after 1988.Thru hindsight, you can't say he would have beaten tyson in a rematch, especially if tyson brought back rooney for the deserved rematch.
Of course you can Nostradamus. Tyson was undefeated when D'mato was alive because he was being fed a line of stiffs. Tucker beat Douglas because he faded...and it was stopped, not a KO. You make it like D'mato and Rooney had mind control on Tyson. Since you have such great hindsight, how do you know that a guy like Tyson, who was already unstable, would have listened to them with all that money in his pocket? Please...Tyson became who he was meant to be: a meteor that flamed out
@cbaldwinjr He didnt fade,he walked into a left hook by tucker.watch the fight again idiot. The same bullshit by tyson haters trying to diminish his great skills he had between 85-88 and alot of the opponetns wernt afraid of him.All the same crap by tyson haters.Douglas didnt do much but attack a guy who stood straight up and on the outside and let douglas hit him.
I saw the Tucker fight. Douglas wasn't being pummeled when it was stopped...and as for this notion that he didn't scare his opponents during his IMMORTAL prime, so what? Good for Steve Zouski and Kevin Ferguson. They weren't afraid. They were still stiffs. That's all Tyson fought during that frame...King-owned stiffs. Thomas, Smith, Berbick, Biggs, etc. I am not a Tyson hater, just a realist. The guy is overrated and 0-3 against all-time guys he fought anywhere near their prime.
Tyson got his over-rated ass kicked hard man in Tokyo that night.I dont hate Tyson...but the man simply got his ass whooped fair and square.Thats about it.
@teleman84 I'll bet you were one of those idiots who thought spinks would test him, right? ANd how overrated was tyson in your mind after beating spinks???
Tyson in 1988 would ko douglas in 5,he trained and fought totally differently,he was a head hunter as soon as he left the damato camp.He trained 2 weeks for douglas and parties all night in tokyo before the fight,oh,and he was knocked down twice in sparring for douglas against ancient greg page!!!!!!you have plent of gaps in your knowledge
@teleman84 Hindsight is 20/20.Tyson was a manufactured fighter who utitlized all the damato techniques to a tee.He didnt have any trouble with guys who were better and ko'd a conditioned douglas, tony tucker.Tyson was the best fighter since clay for a short period of time.late 86 thru early 88.It was too much to keep up the regimine of 12 hrs a day conditioning with the damato techniques.to much for any person.Tyson got "empty early" as quoted by Angelo Dundee,an expert, not a schmuck like you.
Mike Tyson, greatest of all time? Yeah riiiiiggghhht. Not even in the Top 10. You don't get to be #1 or even Top 10 when you lose to journeymen like this and the best HW you ever beat is ... Michael Spinks!!!!
PackerBronco 1 week ago
Did he say that Mike Tyson has been Knock Up?

Personally the worst video to watch as a Tyson fan. IGood fight by buster, very lucky in the 8th some ref's would have counted him out, and somehow managed to get up on the 10 count and find fortune in the end of the round. Terrible to see as a tyson fan,

MrTivert 6 months ago
@MrTivert ...hey tivert.....all i said was buster gets kissed......i never made any comment other than that....but you seem to have trouble with homophobia to bring it up.....and add to that you referred to me as a "dick"....another penis reference.....i suggested you are not only homophobic and more than likely anal retentive but you are a retard as well. ..do you have a psych degree from Walmart?....go watch some wrestling vids or gladiator movies you dipshit...
elbrookman 6 months ago
@MrTivert ."Men do this in other sports every week". If it's done that often, you should have some video evidence you could present to substantiate your claim. However, you don't because you don't know what you're talking about.
capitalismforme 4 months ago
@capitalismforme Really?....Do you really want to upload the endless videos of Fabian Barthez being kissed on the forehead by Laurent Blanc? Yes, it does happen mostly in football and rugby, but i have seen it in boxing too...I haven't made an issue out of it because it doesn't bother me!
I think everyone has a right to their own sexuality, and rightly so!
But if you google Barthez and Blanc you will know it's not uncommon for sportsman to do this.Only a homophobic would be bothered!!!! ;)
MrTivert 4 months ago
@MrTivert firstly, I never stated my opinion therefore you're being highly presumptuous in your assertion. Maybe you're gay. Tell me, what would happen if he whipped his dick out and stuck it up his ass? Would silly us complaining about that be just another case of being "homophobic" in your book? You stated it happens in boxing all the time. Even though every boxing match is video taped, you can't recall another boxing match in which it happens and have to use a different sport as an example.
capitalismforme 4 months ago

MISHA1119 1 year ago
it wasn't those fighters who beat tyson it was the punch and grab tactic which should be illegal in boxing. tremendous reach disadvantages could be dealt with by tyson. that being said tyson didn't have a whole lot of stamina

Boriqua8708 1 year ago
@Boriqua8708 They did try to get a rematch but Douglas's camp didnt want to do business with Don King .. Which I think was an excuse to dodge him because they knew for sure, Tyson woulda won his title back so they gave it to Holyfield who wasnt feared as much of a threat at that time but boy, were they wrong.. Buster got his ass knocked out LOL
Then Tyson went to prison.. N by the time he got out.. Buster was a nobody.. Actually he was a nobody before Tyson went to prison so was no point then

Buster Douglass exposed Mike Tyson for the fraud he was. Tyson was a small heavyweight with limited skills. Every single time he fought someone who would actually hit him back, he lost: Douglass, Holyfield, Lewis. After 1988, Tyson was shot.

When you lose your focus, no matter what it is you are doing, you are not the same.
Mike Tyson found that out.
George Vreeland Hill
GeorgeVreelandHill 2 years ago 15
@GeorgeVreelandHill well, Cus wasn't really the guy who kept Tyson in line. There's a book out about Tyson from and the info is from interviews from him, and Teddy Atlas. When Tyson would get out of line, Cus would't do shit to straighten him out. The person who was really holding Tyson together was Kevin Rooney until Don King came into the picture. If anyone is to blame for Tyson's downfall, its that fucker Don King.
xBMF9000x 2 years ago
Don King mindfucked Mike Tyson. But to make Mike Tyson out to be some puppet easily manipulated only FURTHERS my point that you really can't consider the man to be the G.O.A.T. He didn't have it all together and this ass-whoopin' was just a matter of time. If not Douglas, it would've been Holyfield. No man is invincible...and beating Jesse Ferguson, Quick Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker, Mike Spinks, and Trevor Berbick doesn't make Mike invincible either.

DocWyoming 1 year ago 2
@DocWyoming Tony Tucker, Razor Ruddock (One of the top 10 hardest hitting heavyweights), Larry Holmes (Dont say he was old cuz he fought a whole 90s decade and he went the distance with Holyfield in early 90s, Frank Bruno twice (Say what you want but he became champion after tysons first loss so he wasnt bum), Michael Spinks (People considered him the Peoples Champ and ppl demanded that match, Reason why it generated millions)
561buRnz407 3 months ago
@561buRnz407 Tony Tucker was the best fighter he beat. Tony broke his hand in the fourth round, and still went the distance, winning 4-5 rounds. That's Tyson's best victory. He also destroyed Spinks, who was a great light heavyweight. That's really it. Rudduck hit hard, but he wasn't a great fighter. Holmes WAS old against Tyson, he rejuvenated and renewed his career years later. Bruno SUCKED! Now compare Holyfield or Lewis' title runs... no contest, both much better.
DocWyoming 3 months ago
@DocWyoming Lewis & Tyson fought a past prime Tyson.. ESPECIALLY Lewis.. I give Holyfield more credit for his Ws though, Even though he fought dirty in both fights..
But who did Holyfield really beat? He damn near fought all the ppl Tyson fought who ''arent great heavyweights'' as you say, So as Lewis
561buRnz407 3 months ago
@561buRnz407 Lewis fought a past prime Tyson because Tyson REFUSED to sign a contract in 1996. Go watch Tyson Lewis 1984, for more. As for Holyfield, Tyson paid out 2 million dollars in contract violation fees for not meeting Holyfield in 89-90. Seeing a pattern? When they finally fought years later, it was HOLYFIELD who was considered past his prime! He struggled against Bobby Czyz! He was a 20-1 underdog! C'mon!
DocWyoming 3 months ago
@DocWyoming Your right about the Holyfield part of Tyson ducking
561buRnz407 3 months ago
Holyfield beat Foreman, who Tyson ran from. Holyfield beat Mercer, who Tyson ran from. Holyfield beat Bowe once, who Tyson managed to avoid. Holyfield beat Moorer, another hard hitter that Tyson somehow avoided. Seeing a pattern yet? Holyfield also met up with Lewis and put up a MUCH better fight in a losing effort, than Tyson did. Holyfield and Lewis fought a WHO's Who list of boxers. Tyson RAN from then all!
DocWyoming 3 months ago
@DocWyoming First of all.. Tyson was locked up for 3 years so alot of those fighrers he havent fought was in consequence cuz of that..
Lewis ducked Bowe.. Lewis ducked Klitschko for the rematch, reason why he retired cuz he knew Klitshcko coulda op one out in the 2nd one
Lewis ducked Tyson in the early 90, late 80s.. Cuz he knew what Tyson could do to him, He experienced it in a amateur sparring session
561buRnz407 3 months ago
@561buRnz407, bellend. How Bowe chucking his WBC belt in the bin and vacating the title so he didn't have to fight Lewis somehow means Lewis was ducking, well, only a twat like you could think that. In the late 80s Lewis was only a few fights in to his career, moron. Not ducking Tyson at all. I see you've conveniently ignored that in 1996 Lewis was Tyson's WBC mandatory - but Tyson shat himself, paid Lewis to step aside, gave up the WBC belt so he could fight Seldon instead.
iljn1988 3 months ago
@GeorgeVreelandHill
Oh my God your so unorigional Cus died in 86 long before tyson had a notable fight.
Cus had tyson face lewis sparring in 84 and lewis WON making tyson quit against him, more than 10 years to lewis's prime and only 1 to tysons.
Therefore he could never beat lewis and then spend millions paying him off and gave up his wbc belt nto to fight him, lewis > tyson.

if you look at 1:00 of this video.....

There seems to be two camps on Tyson.
Tampa370 2 years ago
People seem to forget Michael Spinks only lost once and beat Holmes who was 48-0 when Holmes was 34 years old, Tyson faces Spinks a few years later and what was it 88 seconds to KO Spinks ass ?Think about it. That Tyson of early years was great, then came the dark times for Tyson, Robbin Gives, Don King and lost of the people who train him to fight like a great fighter and it was over for him, the better fighters who were talented like Lewis and Holyfield were too much for a lesser trained Tyson
Tampa370 2 years ago

Ali, Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Foreaman... Those five "champions forever" was absolutely great, Foreman loose vs Ali, or Ali loose vs Frazier, it's not bad.
Lewis loose vs Rahman (nobody) or Tyson versus and Douglas (nobody) it's different.
regismo 2 years ago
douglas did win against trevor berbick and oliver mccall right befor fighting mike so it doesnt mean a guy cant get better threw there carier
talleyho12 2 years ago
Ummm...if you're comparing Lewis' loss to Rahman...he put him to sleep in their rematch. Tyson never fought Douglas again. Tyson got smoked by the two contemporaries of his era in three different fights.

Look at Douglas own this clown.
Tyson is Douglas's bitch in there

Tyson got owned
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
tyson's didn't train 'for real it's the reason why he left kevin rooney because he wanted to party and enjoy being champion. Tyson 1985-1989 in his real prime could beat any human being.(btw tyson got knocked down in sparring before this fight if your not retarted you should now he wasn't prepared at all.
predator19091 2 years ago
That's not what Tyson said before the fight! He claimed he was in the "best shape of his career" and he weighed in at his usual fighting weight. If Tyson was as good as some claim he should have been able to beat a bum like buster Douglass with his eyes closed.
Face facts...Tyson just wasn't that good.
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
Get off his dick you fucking homo...Douglas was a bum. If Tyson was as good as his groupies make out he should have been able to beat a second rate fighter like Douglas drunk and with his eyes closed.
Face facts kid...Tyson just wasn't that good
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
Yes your right Tyson wasn't that good after he fired kevin rooney and stopped caring about boxing. Just like every pro boxers would suck if they stopped training for real. He still managed to knock a man out who was prepared for 100% and was mentally superior for just losing is mom. Facts are Tyson with rooney= conditioned, skilled and nearly impossible to hit were after he fired rooney he was slow, tired after 3 rounds and just wild punching without headmovements and combinations. Just watch it
predator19091 2 years ago
You make more sense than most on this subject.
Tyson at top shape and trained the way he was in the early years was nearly unstoppable(no one can't be beaten)
Tyson admits later he was banging several women a night before the fight, his mind was else where.
Tyson was a short fighter and needed his speed to beat men that were 6-4 to 6-5 range.
Tampa370 2 years ago
Based on what??? He looked great fighting a bunch of stiffs. He had trouble against Quick Tillis! Tony Tucker gave him trouble. These aren't great fighters. Tyson fought two all-time fighters somewhere near their prime...Holyfield and Lewis. He went 0-3. He was 23 against a journeyman in Buster Douglas and got WAXED. It's just illogical for him to be considered a top-5 all-time heavy
cbaldwinjr 2 years ago 2
Go look at those fighters again, some were Oiympic Metalist, Tony Tucker had career 59-7, Frank Bruno had a pretty good record too.
When Tyson was in his early years had awesome handspeed and defense, he lost his edge later in his career, even if his later career started early for most. You don't see the connect from what he was before losing his orginal trainers to afterwards ? He lost it, didn't train which was obvious in endurance in later rounds and late of combinations.
Tampa370 2 years ago
Early Tyson KO Holmes, ony person to do so. Also beat Michael Spinks who beat a 34 Holmes, KO Spinks in so many seconds. There are some out there think Tyson of Early years was the same as the one who fought in the 90's, not true. Just watch the man move back in the day compared to 90's. It's like two different people.
Tampa370 2 years ago
Spinks was a great lightheavy but not much of an Heavyweight. Both his victories over an aging Holmes were dull affairs..and I think Holmes won one of them but got screwed.
The facts are this, Tyson got owned in his prime by a every average fighter in Douglas, it wasn't even close either Douglas won virtually every round. That fight was the first time Tyson was tested and he failed. he had no answer to Douglas's jab and didn't seem to have any plan B.
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
He either won on intimidation or got frustrated by top-level guys.
cbaldwinjr 2 years ago
Tillis never gave Tyson "trouble"
Trouble is if your actually ahead on points, on his way to win the fight or hurting Tyson.
He was doing OK but so what ? He was never in any way or shape on the way to win the fight so I repeat. No trouble at all.
BringerOfTheTruth 2 years ago
Was Tyson the only fighter to have problems outside of the ring? Ali had two divorces, death threats from the KKK and the American government on his back. But he always stayed focuses and got on with the job in the ring. If Tyson couldnt do that then that marks him down as a fighter.
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
@cbaldwinjr He never had trouble with quick tillis and tony he easily won on points against both of them. However holyfield had real problems against lesser fighters like alex stewart who almost ko'ed him or lennox lewis who got knocked out twice by crappy fighters. Also holyfieldd and lennox both had miracle cuts when they were losing the fight they won by cuts.
Nhanc3dplay 2 years ago
That's not true at all. Quick Tillis was a journeyman and he gave Tyson trouble. Holyfield's fight against Stewart was close, but he was no where NEAR hurting Holyfield. And WTF is a 'miracle cut'? Holyfield didn't beat Tyson on cuts...he knocked him out and then won when Tyson bit him twice. Lewis knocked Tyson into self-described 'bolivion' (lmao). Tyson only fought two all-time heavies and got KO'd by both. And if Rahman and McCall are 'crappy fighters'...what does that make Danny Williams?
cbaldwinjr 2 years ago
I meant both holyfield and lennox had fights with other fighters wich they were losing all the rounds but won with a cut wich stopped the fight. And tyson after the spinks fight fired his old trainer and he went out partying and not training for real. Tyson's prime is in 85-89 this was with kevin and he would have easily beaten holyfield and lennox then. BTW quick tillis never gave tyson trouble tilles was easily outscored and even knocked down once. The only thing he did was run and hold tyson
Nhanc3dplay 2 years ago
Based on what? How can you just make that claim...Tyson didn't fight the caliber of Holyfield or Lewis during that time AND Holyfield was the #1 contender for about a year and a half after the Spinks fight. King knew he was the only legit threat and didn't fight him. You can't just make baseless claims like that. The fact is...no one has their prime end at 22 and is considered and all-time fighter. NO ONE! Tyson was a blazing comet that flamed out...but he's not an all-time fighter
cbaldwinjr 2 years ago
First of all don king doesn't know anything except how to make money, he's the one who ruined tyson. Prime tony tucker>lewis, tyrrel biggs=lewis even akinwande was outscoring lewis. And lewis>holyfield. A prime holyfield was having trouble beating nobody's and when he buffed up with steroids of whatever he still had problems with alex stewart and a very crappy tyson.
Nhanc3dplay 2 years ago
@cbaldwinjr I agree
EngIishContingent 2 years ago
FACT: Mike Tyson quit not once, but twice against fighters named Danny Williams and KEVIN MCBRIDE (a fight I was in DC to see).
cbaldwinjr 1 year ago 20
@cbaldwinjr fact is tyson fought differently after 1988.Fact is tyson walked in stationary and forced clinches, fact, tyson became a head hunter after 1988,fact,tyson already looked beatable vs bruno 1989,fact,bruno should have finished off tyson in that first round.fact ,tucker ko'd douglas and douglas looked good like here.fact, tyson was never fighting in the same focus and tenacity since 1988.

@fadethetrade
PERIOD!
cbaldwinjr 1 year ago
@cbaldwinjr douglas that night was the better man.Tysons style of dmaato peekaboo consisted of defensive first/offensive perpetual motion. You need a new pair of glasses if you believe this tyson was the same tyson that outpointed tucker,ko'd biggs,ko'd holmes ko'd tubbs and ko'd spinks.I can't help you if you believe this tyson who walked stationary with his head held high was the same tyson.Good luck in life.

@fadethetrade i couldnt agree more
BlaZiiNxIIxGuNn3R 1 year ago
@fadethetrade
Bobby Czyz gave Holyfield credit for catching Tyson coming in in '96...Douglas was the blueprint though
cbaldwinjr 1 year ago
@cbaldwinjr Thru hindsight, his record at the damato camp was impeccable and flawless and he beat tucker ,who ko'd a fit douglas.I believe as angelo dundee has said ,that tyson became "empty early". He became a head hunter not throwing combinations after 1988.Thru hindsight, you can't say he would have beaten tyson in a rematch, especially if tyson brought back rooney for the deserved rematch.
fadethetrade 1 year ago
@fadethetrade
Please...Tyson became who he was meant to be: a meteor that flamed out
cbaldwinjr 1 year ago
@cbaldwinjr He didnt fade,he walked into a left hook by tucker.watch the fight again idiot. The same bullshit by tyson haters trying to diminish his great skills he had between 85-88 and alot of the opponetns wernt afraid of him.All the same crap by tyson haters.Douglas didnt do much but attack a guy who stood straight up and on the outside and let douglas hit him.
fadethetrade 1 year ago
@fadethetrade

Tyson got his over-rated ass kicked hard man in Tokyo that night.I dont hate Tyson...but the man simply got his ass whooped fair and square.Thats about it.
teleman84 1 year ago
@teleman84 I'll bet you were one of those idiots who thought spinks would test him, right? ANd how overrated was tyson in your mind after beating spinks???
Tyson in 1988 would ko douglas in 5,he trained and fought totally differently,he was a head hunter as soon as he left the damato camp.He trained 2 weeks for douglas and parties all night in tokyo before the fight,oh,and he was knocked down twice in sparring for douglas against ancient greg page!!!!!!you have plent of gaps in your knowledge
fadethetrade 1 year ago
@teleman84 Hindsight is 20/20.Tyson was a manufactured fighter who utitlized all the damato techniques to a tee.He didnt have any trouble with guys who were better and ko'd a conditioned douglas, tony tucker.Tyson was the best fighter since clay for a short period of time.late 86 thru early 88.It was too much to keep up the regimine of 12 hrs a day conditioning with the damato techniques.to much for any person.Tyson got "empty early" as quoted by Angelo Dundee,an expert, not a schmuck like you.
