Hi Yorkshire, I just downloaded this myself but yet it sounds completely different from how you have it setup. any chance you might let me in on how your controls are setup so I can get the sound spot on to this? Many thanks!
suena muy limpio, muy digital...el sonido del eminent tanto en Oxygene como en Equinoxe es más sucio al parecer por los chip del mismo órgano y por el chorus analogo que este trae no obstante suena bonito el Radias!.
@icl8038 Yes I agree it sounds too clean and digital but it's still a pretty good emulation. I do have a Real Eminent 310U but sadly I have no room in my house for it at the moment and have to keep it at work for now.
Who cares what it would sound like without the phase shifter! 99% of the patches on any synth would sound like crap without added effects. They are an important element in the sound creation palette. I think this sounds awesome and pretty damn true to the original.
Hi M8. Before you rush out and buy one, you only get that classic sound over about 1.5 octaves. Do checkout some of the other Radias videos on here, you get an awful lot of synth for your money (mine was < £700). Checkout the videos from rfoshaug in the video response above!
Some people were unsatisfied of the original Radias (your engine) because the extreme complication of the controls. But I can see that you can do truly awesome things with it, it sounds like nothing else (no ext effect, yes ?)
Do you know the japanese band Betta flash, they got only one Radias and one Microkorg, nothing else, they bounce like hell with them !
I have the "baby Radias", the R3 and it's a nice toy, easy to use ^^
Hi roms303, thanks for the nice comment! There is a link to the right if you look in the More Info section about this video, it's right at the bottom.
Nice, I realy dig these sort of Pads, I had not heard a Radias do pads yet. I had one for a short time but sold it to buy some other gear. Wish I kept it...
this is great, at last a sound that all out there can compare to other machines that can do the same, you are on my subscription list, i have a Radias its cool.
Hi weaponEx. Yes, I believe you can assign each timbre it's own midi channel. I can't be 100% positive though as I'm still new to this synth but I'm sure someone will be quick to point out if I'm wrong :)
Can the timbres be assigned to different midi channels? Could I theoretically have 4 midi controllers plugged into the rack, controlling each individual timbre? (or more usefully, 2 with a split on each)
Yes, and yes. You can assign a MIDI channel to each timbre, and if you can set the range of notes for which they play, so in effect if you assign two timbres to the same channel and set their "keyboard range", you'll have it split.
This a sound!

@Yorkshirelad69 are there any ensemble string section sounds comparable to the best plug-ins these days (such as Vienna etc)?

@Yorkshirelad69 Interesting, well I'll try re-downloading it and see what happens. thanks for the reply!

This video shows that the Radias isn't good only for trance.

great sounds, showing that with some effort any synth can emulate even the most vintage analogs.

Any decent string patch running through a "Small Stone"-like phase shifter will give that "instant Jarre" sound :)
The phase-shifter is important, but the most important thing is the the Eminent 310U strings (unbeatable and still unmatched).
I'd be curious to hear how this patch sounds WITHOUT the phase-shifter. I'd bet it does not sound like an Eminent.
Radias is OK, but I do prefer ION/Micron/Miniak and other Q/Virus synths ^^
Decimator7 2 years ago
Hi Decimator, I agree with you but this was really to simply demo the Radias doing a reasonable emulation without the aid of any additional FX.

Hi Kitka
Yes, that sound is purely from the Radias alone. The Radias seems complicated at first but you soon get the hang of it's controls.

Rune, any chance you could do a version of that patch for a virtual synth??
marineboyecosse 2 years ago
He he, nice to see my sound in action! :-)
For another example of this sound in use, check out this one: /watch?v=9IOyQIyrPFI
For Oxygene II, I used two of these, one was an octave higher than the other to make it even more "full" sounding. :-)
rfoshaug 2 years ago
Hi Rune!
Yeah it really is nice. Barring a real Eminent 310 or a Nord Wave this is as good as it gets!

Fantastic effort and incredible sound. Is there any chance of doing longer piece and angled from above?
36012v64 2 years ago
Hi M8
I may do another, fuller, more complete version at some point with more instruments and if I do I'll do it angled so you can see what's going on!

korg radias sounds very expansive and punchy compared to the virus which has an aggressive, low fidelity sound.

Hi weaponEx. Yes, I believe you can assign each timbre it's own midi channel. I can't be 100% positive though as I'm still new to this synth but I'm sure someone will be quick to point out if I'm wrong :)

You can do this with the virus with a thru box
weaponEX 3 years ago
Yes, and yes. You can assign a MIDI channel to each timbre, and if you can set the range of notes for which they play, so in effect if you assign two timbres to the same channel and set their "keyboard range", you'll have it split.
