iMac G3 Startup

Heheheh. I've got two G3 iMacs. One from family, the other from a teacher. I love my colorful old machines, and I still use them frequently. An Indigo handles OSX, but I'd love to install OS9 on it instead. My Blue iMac handles OS 9, same OS it came with, aside from an update to 9.1. These things still run well. They're much more aesthetically appealing than the black metal Windows Desktop I'm viewing YT on, and they make my desk look much better... At least, on THEIR side.

I left my iMac G3 plugged in overnight. And it turned itself on at 4 AM and woke me up. I've never ever had a computer turn itself on before.

Well, I threw it back in my closet, lol.

Now my 5150 could never turn itself on, the PSU is directly controlled by the red flip switch and is independent from the computer (you can turn on the PSU without it actually being plugged into the systemboard --> but doing that can make it unstable as the power sort of builds up without anywhere to go as I was told).

when i was in 7th grade we had a huge computer lap filled with these stupid i macs. all of the students hated them. then we got pcs the next year and everyone was happy, we could play countless games during lunch and we were all used to them. our computer teachers who ran the lab even told us that we are now using pcs, the advanced computer. som much better than an apple with a gay pride rainbow on it.

well, I'm not saying I hate ALL macs, I mean to say that the macs put out by Apple now are horrible. Early iMacs and some of the Gx series I have no problem with, and i also do like vintage apple products. But I don't like the current line of Mac products now.

I think you are correct. I actualy think an iMac G3 is a good computer for primary schools but if you are at home playing games it isn't that good. I must admit. It is a good enough Mac for a school. It is possible for it to run Word Mac and other office apps but it just needs a couple of upgrades to run Mac OS X Leopard but look at the new iMac on the Apple Web Site!

LOL an iMac G3 won't run Leopard, PowerPC G3 Cpus are not supported, so will fail to install & fail to boot. You need an 867Mhz G4, and iMac g3 can run 10.4 tiger max.
