Don't go thinking European cars hold supremacy either, go do some research and you'll see that Japanese automotive companies actually have better, more consistent numbers on the international level than either American or European manufacturers.
But who cares? Cause the fact remains that the Viper ACR will smoke any of that Euro stuff around any track lol. And then after that you're getting smoked by a Nissan GT-R. Euro cars are at the bottom of the barrel for the time being.
Smoke, kill, rape, as if there really is a war going on. You flagwaving bewildered fools base the entire state of the US car industry on 3 mediastunts at the Ring. Corvette, Viper, hell even Cadillac showing up at a closed race track in Germany where Porsche has had permanent test facilities for 50 years and ALL claim "world records" after renting the track for a god damn weekend. You need to inject Kennedy grade patriotism directly into your eyeballs to eat that shit without question.
Because its all about that flagwaving. While forgetting that your Vipers sold 200 cars a year and died. Corvette sells 1000-1400 cars a month and hardly any of them is the ZR1. Nobody actually buys a Cadillac CTS-V either. These are just the show-off models to use in tests while the cars people actually take home are far less talented, cheaper models. This heavy reliance on media hype and bullshit claims is why none of these sell any cars abroad.
@Janusha; Norwegian trash still talking crap about american cars huh?? lol I'll tell you what. Come talk to me once Norway even becomes relevant to this world. You can be prejudice against the U.S. all you want. But it makes you look even worse when you come from a place that no one even cares about. lol
Yes Im really ashamed to come from the richest and most prosperous country in the world. Just because you bewildered flagwaving fools dont know shit about other countries dont mean nothing goes on there.
Dont get me wrong. I hate no car. Well generally speaking anyway. I love Porsche's, Lambo's, Audi's, VW's, you name it, I probably like it. (Merc's and Ferraris are an exception though. Too flashy for me). All I can really say is that America is very diverse and not everyone shares the same opinion. America likes cheap, fast, good cars. Europe likes fast, sporty, high class cars. Japan likes small, cheap, reliable cars. Thats just the way it is. Im not very good at arguments you know.
Like I said before, what can we do? Thats just the way we are. Yes it is true that there are many European cars bought by Americans, but that is only a fraction of the cars on the road in America. Yes the Mustang is made for a select audience, and IS very basic, but that's the way its always been, and many Americans think that should never change. Cheap and fast. Thats all it really comes down too. The whole un-american thing came about by kids that think they are race car drivers.
I know american cars are... different. After all there are very good reasons they all went bankrupt and dont sell in Europe. I think the reality of it is FAR worse than most americans are willing to realise. Today GM makes most their money selling Korean cars to China and pickup trucks to americans. After leaving hundreds of thousands jobless when they moved to third world countries for cheap labour. However these arguements dont have so much to do with cars-
- as the american tendency to shout BEST IN THE WOOOORLD and wave those flags in everybodys face regardless of staggering, overhwelming evidence to the contrary. An american built car is a rare sight in Europe these days. Whereas I doubt you have to walk very far anywhere in america ,or any country, before you see European cars. Infact I cant think of a single US built competitive car that sells on the international market. There is no war for supremacy going on out there. Its pretty one-sided.
Lol. I love the GT's but yea they do get TERRIBLE gas mileage. Also love the GTS look, one of my fave Vipers. Veryrons are no doubt wonders of engineering, but to me they just seem like status symbols. With the kind of money you fork over for a Veyron, I could buy a 500K home, and still have left over to buy an ACR, Ford GT TT, ZR1, Nissan Skyline R34(dont like GTR's) and a whole lot of other crap.
I think its fair to assume people that cough up the money for a Veyron, already have a pretty decent house. Its not the kinda car you save up for. I never understood why especially americans are so provoked over the price of hypercars / supercars. If they were priced "wrong" then nobody would buy them, they would go bankrupt, problem solved. In a country where you can easily buy a 50 million dollar mansion. As soon as a car costs more than 100 000, its somehow "unamerican" and flawed.
@Janusha I respect that dude. Im not a Veyron hater or think that those who can buy them are idiots because they do. Of course I also understand that if you can buy a Veryon, then you can more than likely buy all the things I mentioned before. It's just personal opinion. All im saying is, that id rather buy all the things I like, instead of just one REALLY expensive car. And mansions are nice and all, but id do with just a big house from 300K-500K. I like to keep it simple...well a bit.
Most americans get all worked up over this. Its weird. So fascinated with wealth and so patriotic about cars. Yet are unable to see the market for upper class vehicles simply because they dont build them. Above BMW quality, they offer nothing. Never did. Which leaves the entire upper market free for Euro cars to dominate. Just like the enormous US motorcycle market. Ducati, Yamaha, KWM, Honda, all making modern superbikes while USA has Harley.. Patriotism on wheels with saddlebags.
@Janusha While i agree with you that the quality of American cars is far inferior to both European, and Asian cars, most Americans do not care for class vehicles. They just want something that will take them from point A to B. They, or should i say we(excluding me of course) find it pointless to spend $45000 for a BMW when a $20000 Impala or Fusion can do the same thing. It may not go very fast, but it gets there fast enough.
@Janusha and as for Harley Davidson, thats just an American thing. Its been around since 1903 or so, so its in our roots. Sure there are many Americans that have Japanese sports bikes and dual purpose European bikes, but there are many more who have Harley's. It's like the muscle car(well pony car really). We know they cant handle very well(they can mind you if they upgrade the suspension) but they go fast and sound great for a decent price. What can we do. Thats just the way America is.
Again... Clearly americans do "care" for them because you guys buy 40% of our high end brands. But love to hate them because they arent american. Therefore un-american. The US car industry has played that patriotism card for generations. Whenever Europe / Asia came up with new tech, they just made it increasingly important to buy domestic instead of follow the latest tech and quality. Putting taxes on imports and luxury tax on top of it to force them up in price, out of competition.
Ofcourse Harley goes way back. But again. When the superbike tech evolved, Harley instead played the patriotism card and made "ricers" unamerican and Harleys synonomous with freedom, the american dream and all which is good about the red, white and blue. This way there has never been a NEED to produce top quality inorder to sell vehicles. I dont want to be the bringer of doom here but I think all these arguements isnt so much over whats ACTUALLY best. More about nationalism and waving that flag.
Ofcourse american cars CAN handle. Racecars have done it since the 60s. But as Ford says about their mustangs. If they implemented Porsche quality suspension and undercarriage, the Mustang would "miss its targeted audience" which means... if it was as good as a Porsche, it would cost Porsche money. MY arguement, however is... Go for it. Build more expensive cars. Porsche outsells Corvette in USA and sells 120 000 cars a year. Ever cheaper cars built in third world countries clearly isnt working.
I know. In my country its every pakistanis dream to own a BMW. Which means you cannot drive a BMW without being mistaken for a pakistani. Still great cars tho.
@ivanrho: Yeah, the Viper is becoming a real true supercar. Meanwhile, the upcoming 2014 Ford GT, 700HP awd and a hybrid, but the whole car will weigh 200lbs less than the 05 Ford GT. Yeah, you heard it from me first. :)
@V8Supercar1 I've been hearing about that for a while now but can't seem to find that anywhere. The Ford GT is a must have. Lot's of guys in my club also own that car; at least half dozen of them. PLUS this weekend, my friend Johnny from Performance Power Racing is at Kennedy Space Center with Guiness attempting to set a new Standing Mile World Record that they set at my race a year and half ago. They went 253 mph at the Top Gun Run event in 2010. Send me that 2014 Ford GT info pls
Ive read alot of comments on here hating on exotics and bragging about the acr and what not, now im not here to say the acr is a bad car because its not it an amazing car but not to be compared to exotics. Exotics combine luxury, technology, refinement, comfort, and speed all into one package while the acr has just speed.
This is exactly the case. But the issue is really with how everything american gets hyped way beyond its actual capability. Cars are no exception. "exotics" are about refinement and sophistication, ironically, not about speed or being "fastest" Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari all started doing 200 mph already in the 80s and dont go any faster today because they are refreshingly unconcerned with unrealistic speeds. Racecars have done virtually the same since the 60s. Speed on its own is cheap.
What has changed since is build quality, tech and styling. Which is exactly where americans are reluctant to follow the top brands because all these things make cars more expensive. Instead they sprinkle them with patriotism, perform mediastunts on tracks around the world with fully factory backed race crews setting misleading lap times and hype them to the skies. While in reality the Viper died because nobody bought it and Corvettes sell only in america where they are outsold by Porsche.
@Janusha: Yep. No different from when Mercedes sprinkle patriotism about their cars all over TV. And no different when Porsche performs their media stunts on the Nurburgring using pro drivers and cup tires. And lastly, Porsche outsold Corvettes. But yet Camaros out sold Porcshe. SO I guess in your ignorant world, that makes Camaros better than Porsche.
I would agree if that was the case. But business run entirely on patriotism is a uniquely american thing.
Porsche dont perform "mediastunts" at the Nurburgring... They have had permanent test facilities at the Ring for over 50 years. Surely they can do as they want in their own god damn back yard.
If Camaro outsold Porsche, then well done for Camaro and american engineering. Except the new Camaro is a re-dressed Australian built Holden with a Corvette engine. Try harder america.
@Janusha: So its a redressed built Holden even though GM owns Holden. And Holden is literally living off of GM's parts and engineering. Now that doesn't seem to make any sense. Hmmm. You could have atleast mention the fact that it was Chinese designed. lol As if I'm gonna hate the car just because someone else had a hand in building it. And lets not also Forget the Mustang outsells all Porsche performance models here as well.
Hate these cars? Why would I hate them. I would just like to see what would happen if america ONCE step up and build internationally competitive cars that are actually good enough to sell outside your own borders. Its a mystery to me how these guys dont understand that QUALITY sells. Even now that one or two US cars have learnt to go round corners, they still have a way to go to match modern cars. They seem more interested in recycling old cars to save a dollar. No investment.
@Janusha: Internationally competitive? Why?? We build cars that everyone here can afford. Its about "here". Not about what the rest of the world wants. If we can sell Europe just a few mustangs, corvettes, then thats a big bonus for us because we prefer the "bang for your buck" approach. Now of course there are a few cars that is not really being built by a budget. Fisker Karma is one of those family luxury cars, and of course the SSC Tuatara needs no explaining.
So you are telling me you dont sell cars to the 500 million people in Europe because GM dont WANT to or because their product isnt good enough to be in demand? Wow... Nice logic there.
The 7-8 GM models they try to push in Europe are all rebadged Korean cars. Which dont sell here. The SSC Tutara is already a year late. Who knows if it will be better than their previous homebuilt kit-car that sold 14. Fisker Karma is made in Finland by a Danish car designer. Hardly american.
@Janusha: Actually. Since you cant read, I didn't expect you to do basic research. Because you would have learned that Henrik Fisker is an american that started that company in California, it doesn't matter where the cars are built or who designed them. They are american branded cars. If we go by your ignorant logic, then all Lotus cars are Japanese cars and the Arash AF-10 is an american car.
@Janusha: Secondly SSC has never released an official release time table for the Tuatara. Up until now. Their pre orders have already passed that of the U.A. The U.A. sold 14? Well thats only 10 less than the overpriced overated Veyron SS that gets destroyed in a 1/4 mile by a modified GT-R.
Fisker is a Danish person who got his education in Germany and worked for BMW before starting business in USA. He has an office in California but this Fisker Karma thing is built in Finland just like I said. I dont ever make these things up. If I dont know, I dont talk about it. This car is as american as the California based Tesla that sells electric cars designed and built by Lotus at their headquarter in England.
But sure.. an office and a brand name is all it takes to pass for american. Just look at GM selling rebadged Korean cars and Chrysler selling redressed Mercedes and now redressed Fiats. Been a while since they built something themselves. Whatever happened to craftsmanship and pride in your own work? Replaced with squeeky asian plastic and claiming other peoples work for your own. Veyron sold out before they were even built. All 300. Then 20 SS and another 150 GranSport. While SSC sold 14.
@Janusha: Thats great. The Veyron wins the selling contest. I guess thats an achievement considering that they are backed by a billion dollar company vs. a company that just produced their first production car. Wow what an achievement for Bugatti. The funny thing is they even admitted the only reason why they released the SS, was because the Ultimate Aero took their top speed record.
@Janusha: I never said they weren't built in Finland. I said their H.Q. is here in the U.S. I'll tell you what. We will use your logic from now on. The Fisker Karma is european. Lets absolutely ignore the fact that its built with american engineering and parts. Secondly, Lotus cars are japaneese cars since they are built with Japanese parts. And because we are going by your logic again, the Arash AF-10 is american. And the Locus Plethore is also american. Thats your ignorant logic right there.
Cars are like women...You have the one you use everyday and appreciate what it does for you. (for most of us, we only have one) And although you may love your car and think it's really sexy, beautiful and amazing, you CAN STILL appreciate the beauty and func of another car. So stop coming by here hating on the Viper because it's my favorite. I myself appreciate all cars of all types. Because I could never drive a Viper everyday. And would hate it for work.
@MrAlexkohl1993 Yup, that's right, it's still a Dodge. The company Fiat decided to buy and own a controlling interest in. Oh, I forgot to mention that they also own Ferrari and Maseriati too. Yea, damn old brand Dodge, that also happened to spank all the other car manufacturers out there in the Nurburgring.
Dont forget your government gave Chrysler to Fiat for free to avoid a complete collapse. They didnt buy it. they have since put more money into Chrysler to increase their controlling part but Fiat didnt pay a dollar for the ownership of Chrysler. As for your Nurburgring records... Tell me.. Who else goes to the Ring with factory backed race crews ? This idea that the Ring is some kind of international "benchmark" and along came americans and won gold medals, is an all american myth.
@Janusha I don't know the complete details of the Fiat/Chrysler deal but they do have 30% controlling interest. I can look that up later. As far as a factory based race car, these Vipers were taken off the lot from a Dodge dealer in Texas and shipped to Germany. It was not a backed race division. Besides the Ring, the Viper ACR has posted records in over a dozen tracks in the US. Sebring, Laguna Seca are just a couple.
@Janusha And also, why are you talking government assistance etc? I'm talking only about sports car performances. And also, IF YOU say that the Ring is not the benchmark, that's because most car companies DON'T have anything that can run there on that track. If you want to read more, PM me your email and I'll send over an article that was written regarding this event with the Vipers. A vaulting task to say the very least.
Because you made a big number out of Fiat BUYING Dodge when infact they were given the controlling part of Chrysler / Dodge for free.
Also I can promise you Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, Aston, none of the big names tour the race tracks of the world with factory backed race teams and modified cars trying to set misleading "benchmarked" lap times. So in america, your Vipers and your Corvettes will always be exactly as best in the wooorld as they like.
Nissan started all this crap back in the day when they wanted to marked their Nissan Skyline for Europe. They noted there was no "production" car lap record at the Ring, so they tweaked the shit out of a Skyline and posted the worlds first 8 minute lap. The press made it into a big thing and the Ring got alot of attention. And today... Somehow americans have embraced the Ring as some kind of international benchmark where we all go to see whats "best" and americans came along and beat them all.
Whereas in reality these american runs happened right in the middle of their collective bankruptcies desperate to sell some cars in Europe and create hero status back home. Bob Lutz describes in his book, they were so hellbent on "records" they even built parts of the Ring in USA so they could set up their cars specially before they went over there. But its like landing on the moon. Impressive, sure. But who else was trying. Who did you "beat" Ferrari, Aston, Lambo have NEVER been to the Ring.
@Janusha These cars have never been to the Ring because they don't care to. If they had a product that could put down a real time, maybe then they'd do it. So I guess you're stating that the Ring is a bunch of BS and a waste of time. Is that right? Then tell me, what track in the world can an (in your opinion) auto manufacture test their cars in a controlled environment, being the length of the track. Maybe you prefer one of those dash mounted "G" meters for everything?
@Janusha FYI via Bloomberg June 3, 2011: June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Fiat SpA will pay $500 million for the U.S. government’s remaining 6 percent stake in Chrysler Group LLC, ending the Treasury’s involvement in the automaker as Fiat moves to consolidate control. The U.S. Treasury said it will receive an additional $60 million as part of a deal for Fiat to acquire the government’s rights to buy a union trust fund’s stake in Chrysler.
@Janusha cont. The Canadian government will get $15 million from that part of the transaction, the Treasury said yesterday in a statement.
The purchase of the U.S. stake will take Fiat’s holding in the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based carmaker to 52 percent. Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne expects to get an additional 5 percent stake in the fourth quarter in return for developing a fuel-efficient car for Chrysler.
@Janusha Do yourself a favor and read up on what actually happened with the transactions between Fiat and Chrysler. They were NOT give the company for free. Everything you stated was WRONG so educate yourself first. And your comment that Ferrari, Lambo Porshce and Aston is your opinion. You are not them. I'm not knocking any other car companies like you are. I am simply stating that NO ONE has a faster production car in the Ring. But I guess you think that's child's play lol.
I wont dive into the nerdy details on Fiats takeover but the fact is... Fiat recieved the CONTROLLING part of Chrysler for free and have since, like you quote, bought further stakes in Chrysler. On top of that Obama had to promise to cancel all of Chryslers insane debts that was ment to be covered by their half of the 100 billion bailout funds. Its also likely that funds from that bailout-package was used to purchase further stakes in Chrysler. Just like GM paid off their "loans"
Think about it... Who PAYS for a bankrupt, essentially worthless company. Not only was it worthless, it was tens of billions below the red line. Having to feed hundred thousand workers without actually producing cars. A financial disaster. So obviously they were GIVEN the controlling 30-something % of Chrysler for free + a clean slate with no debts attached. Obama agreed to this because its a political / financial disaster when hundreds of thousands of people lose their job and go on welfare.
As for your faith in these Ring laps. Its like landing on the moon. Impressive, sure. But claiming to BEAT everybody else is where it goes wrong. The fact is, much like your claimed Ring laps, nobody else was trying. So who did they really "beat" ? If you are racing against nobody else, you will win. This idea of the Nurburgring as some kind of "international benchmark" is an all american myth... Claiming a Corvette, Viper can do stuff that a Euro supercar cannot, is simply foolish.
If you want to pursue the validity of these claimed Ring laps, I can elaborate in quite some detail as I have done my homework when I wrote a big piece on it a couple of years ago.
@Janusha Yes, please elaborate more on this, and I understand that everyone has their opinion. However, keep in mind that unless it is out there and proven as fact, it is simply an opinion or a conspiracy theory. Any reputable car company attempting to break a record needs to have a timing association that is reputable and trustworthy.
@Janusha American myth? The Ring is probably the most challenging track out there. Over 14 miles long with so many blind corners and elevation changes, it's not for everyone, or for every car company. Cars without the proper aerodynamics or enough HP would put down a slow lap time. Say what you want about the Ring, I'd like to know what track in the world is more challenging? Oh and the fact that Formula 1 was racing there, as well as Phil Hill and Jackie Stewart means nothing either...
@Janusha I did read that Chrysler took a $4B loan and it was paid back to the government. This was done to save jobs, and not to produce any additional cars. But still, the whole idea that it was given to Fiat for free is no where to be found.
"The Ring is the most challenging track" Yeah yeah... we know what the Ring is. We have had it for the better part of a century. While to you guys it has no history or heritage. Im sure Niki Laudas crash, which led to the closing of the Ring in 76 for safety reasons, went un-noticed in USA. You know it from recent years. Especially since Viper, Corvette, hell even Cadillac went there claiming wooorld records and naming it "Europes own benchmark" to give their laps some credibility.
Now... The first issue I have with these Ring laps being thrown around so much these days is this... Where is the evidence ? And what "records" do they actually claim. These are questions that never seems to bother americans that shout about these things. Where are the pictures? If these runs were at all legit, there would be press conferences, international media invited, interviews... instead there is nothing. Today when every phone has a camera and not ONE picture of any of these events?
I seriously doubt any of them were associated with timing partners but its not the TIMES I have a problem with. Its the cars. They dont fly over full factory backed race crews to sit and watch. I understand you are somewhat associated with Vipers. Out of the 3, clearly Viper made the most honest run. Atleast they made a special car for the job while Corvette and Cadillac ran highly modified cars. So... Before I elaborate. Tell me. Why should I, or anyone, believe these claims without evidence ?
@Janusha You can view the video here on youtube under: Dodge Viper ACR Recaptures Lap Record at Nurburgring. I wasn't there so I can't say who was doing the timing. What I do know is that there were 2 Viper ACRs borrowed from Tomball Dodge in Texas that were flown over to Germany. Anyway, it seems pointless to keep trying to prove anything here. The bottom line is that the Dodge Viper ACR in its latest form is setting records at tracks across the US. Will there ever be a faster PRODUCTION car?
Sure... Videos on YouTube. Cameras poking out the window showing me the track and the time. But where are the pictures of the cars ?
Again.. what records are you talking about? Why is that point not important for you guys? Like Cadillac... They INVENTED a record, then claimed it. Whats with this need to make stuff up? I guess its easy since over here, your cars virtually dont exsist anyway and in america, nobody will ever question any "fact" that puts america ahead of its competition.
The ACR was Dodges way of sending the car off with hero status. It goes like a racecar because it its a thinly disguised racecar with numberplates. Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Koenigsegg, Lotus, Aston, Pagani... NONE of the big names tour the tracks of the world with full race crews "benchmarking" their cars. So naturally.... Your Corvettes and Vipers will always be exactly as "best in the world" as they like.
Outside of these mediastunts, they are the same cars as last year and the year before.
@Janusha Let's hear it from you...Tell us all what make and model car for you is your fit. What track or what has your "favorite" car good for? What does it do? Do you race it? Do you show it? It's ok that you have no interest in an American car. I get that because Vipers aren't for everyone. My everyday driver is a Range Rover Sport and I've owned most make and models from across the globe. But let's hear from you....
@ivanrho: Don't worry about Janusha. He she or whatever it is, has been proven bias and ignorant. He is so ignorant, that someone actually made a youtube channel named "JanushaISAFaggot". lol Janusha is just the laughing stock of the internet, and is well known for his constant trolling of american car videos. lol
This isnt about my personal opinion or my "favourite" Im not here waving flags to my champion vs the rest. My education is in Social Anthropology and marketing for the car business. I became a games designer but my interests are brand identity and social trends. Who buys what and why. These Nurburgring lap times that are now thrown around as conclusive proof of american superiority, are marketing stunts done by race crews and do NOT represent either of these cars actual performance.
@Janusha There's no sense in debating you when you have no faith in any video that's on YouTube. Because you'd rather see photos of these cars than a video that's set up to show where the actual car is and what the on board diagnostics is showing. Record that who invented? You know what's interesting? I've asked you several times what track is important to you? What make and model automobile is in your opinion, something that does it all for you? But no answer? Hmmmmm.
@ivanrho its funny...i used to not like dodge vipers because they were so heavy...but they made some big improvements with the new body style and handling, they brought sexy back **facepalm**...but either way...gimmy a Ford, Chrysler (includes dodge), and GM any day vrs. the foreign dog shit that they put bookoos of HP in to keep up with american production sports cars...sometimes they win...but thats cause they say "i only got 800 HP" but the dyno shows 1600+ HP...just so they can post a vid
Americans and their tuneshops... Its amazing how you can argue supercar - sportscar dominance when you dont actually make any. Its like if my country were to argue that we have the best space program or were best in the woooorld at bombing third world shitholes for their "insurgents" and their oil. Its just as silly as americans claiming to have the best cars.
@D16Turbo86 Your talking crap about this video but your channel is full of videos of Civics and Neons racing... I rather see a Viper and Ford Gt parked than spend half a second watching some broke kids risk killing themselves and others while racing cars that will never be cool no matter how fast they are.
@D16Turbo86 If you read the info on the video, we just got done running these cars at Homestead Motorsports Raceway at speeds over 150 before hitting the brakes and then in to several turns and then onto the banking curve. Yea I guess we were all like school girls. Haha. :)
@ivanrho good comeback still doesnt cure the fact that you guys have sweet ass cars and all the money and young folks like me drive busted ass trucks lmao oh well guess this gives me something to look forward to some day
@SickK8GSXR600 The Viper is out of current production because they have been approved to move forward with a new model. New car will be most likely a 2013 model as we see it. And it will be still a Dodge and it will still have a V-10.
@ivanrho yep the new 2012 viper is going to be beautiful and very well refined. i cant tell you much more than that but i know this and much more because my dad is currently on the viper team.
I've seen the Viper race a lot of different cars from Lambos,Corvettes,GT1000 and even the infamous Bugatti Veyron and when all is said and done the Viper ACR-X is a badass machine!! It shouldnt matter whether these companies choose to run a V6 or a V12 what they bring to the table is what they choose to bring...unfortunately it doesn't match the Vipers overall performance and stats prove that! Wait til Dodge figures out a V10 HEMI to stuff in it next \m/ ( o O ) \m/
@videoman191 Cool - a viper doesnt fart and you don't have to change it to make it look....well i would say good, but i have yet to see a "cool" honda civic, lol!
The 2010 Viper ACR just posted a mind blowing 7:12 time at the Nurburgring about a week to two ago. And the ACR-X, Dodge's track ready race car posted a 7:02. NOTHING, and repeat NOTHING, not even the Lexus LF-A Nurburgring Edition at over $400K can beat it. Oh, Lexus built 50 Limited Run of their special editions. Is that really a production car? I don't think so, but their 7:14 time wasn't bad for a 400K car. Right, lol.
@AidenTimmins What??!! What magazine are you reading?? The LFA is a V10 with over 560 HP at the cost of $445,000. Please get your info right before posting.
@AidenTimmins It doesn't matter what you have, a V10 or V6 or even a V8 like the Corvette ZR1. The Enzo has a V12 and didn't even post a time close to the Viper.
@ivanrho the enzo wasnt run by the company nor did it have racing slicks, notice every other car with shitty times were posted by magazine drivers as to the top 4 cars are posted by there company?
@fourmilesnipe The 2 Vipers that went over there were provided by Tomball Dodge. Call them to verify. The driver was a driver for Ferrari who happens to know the course well. And the tires were DOT for the street, NOT a true slick. I'm not sure why you're making up excuses for Ferrari or how you even know that. But I'll take your word on that.
@ivanrho If it's so good then why did Dodge need an 8.4 L 167lb of torque more than the 4.8L LFA? Why do American cars need such big engines and the ACR need the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires too the LFA only used OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires no where near as good as the MPSC on the ACR... And the ACR only pulls only 2 seconds more! Lets see the LFA with an 8.4L and similar tires...
@Dcdude25ish Like whore. I'd like to see you get a women that would put up with your dirty ass actions enough to make you a sandwich. Bitch, you need to make them the sandwich you pathetic virgin.
@FailedSkaterz lol you dont need to be loaded to drive these cars.
honestly the ACR and Ford GT can be bought for about 80K used.
the SRT10 viper can be bought for 50K used and about the same for the GTS... somtimes even less close to 30k depending on the seller/condition i've seen RT-10's sell for 18K in good condition.
@CemetaryGatesML Yeah i mean all of that at most would cost what? at mos. 2k for all the different tax, say 3 grand for registering it on road, lets call it 7k. Shouldn't be paying more than 40 for an old one. They just like to rip people off here. Better off importing it yourself.
"honestly the ACR and Ford GT can be bought for about 80K used."
-i've never seen a single Ford GT for sale below $150,000, but a 2008 Viper SRT10 ACR was less than $100,000 base price, so they may sell for about $80,000.
@CemetaryGatesML I don think so. GT prices are on the rise, sadly for me =( Cheapest GT on DuPontRegistry is $155,000. Average running rate now for a Ford GT is $200,000+ =\

HoldxMyxDrank 1 month ago
@Holdx
Janusha 1 month ago
Because its all about that flagwaving. While forgetting that your Vipers sold 200 cars a year and died. Corvette sells 1000-1400 cars a month and hardly any of them is the ZR1. Nobody actually buys a Cadillac CTS-V either. These are just the show-off models to use in tests while the cars people actually take home are far less talented, cheaper models. This heavy reliance on media hype and bullshit claims is why none of these sell any cars abroad.

Im not very good at arguments you know.
laParka777 1 month ago
@laParka777 lamborghinis are definitely more flashy than ferraris or mercs
greensp4rk 1 month ago
Like I said before, what can we do? Thats just the way we are. Yes it is true that there are many European cars bought by Americans, but that is only a fraction of the cars on the road in America. Yes the Mustang is made for a select audience, and IS very basic, but that's the way its always been, and many Americans think that should never change. Cheap and fast. Thats all it really comes down too. The whole un-american thing came about by kids that think they are race car drivers.
laParka777 1 month ago
@laParka777
However these arguements dont have so much to do with cars-
Janusha 1 month ago
- as the american tendency to shout BEST IN THE WOOOORLD and wave those flags in everybodys face regardless of staggering, overhwelming evidence to the contrary. An american built car is a rare sight in Europe these days. Whereas I doubt you have to walk very far anywhere in america ,or any country, before you see European cars. Infact I cant think of a single US built competitive car that sells on the international market. There is no war for supremacy going on out there. Its pretty one-sided.
Janusha 1 month ago
Lol. I love the GT's but yea they do get TERRIBLE gas mileage. Also love the GTS look, one of my fave Vipers. Veryrons are no doubt wonders of engineering, but to me they just seem like status symbols. With the kind of money you fork over for a Veyron, I could buy a 500K home, and still have left over to buy an ACR, Ford GT TT, ZR1, Nissan Skyline R34(dont like GTR's) and a whole lot of other crap.
laParka777 1 month ago
@laPark777
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha I respect that dude. Im not a Veyron hater or think that those who can buy them are idiots because they do. Of course I also understand that if you can buy a Veryon, then you can more than likely buy all the things I mentioned before. It's just personal opinion. All im saying is, that id rather buy all the things I like, instead of just one REALLY expensive car. And mansions are nice and all, but id do with just a big house from 300K-500K. I like to keep it simple...well a bit.
laParka777 1 month ago
@laParka777
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha While i agree with you that the quality of American cars is far inferior to both European, and Asian cars, most Americans do not care for class vehicles. They just want something that will take them from point A to B. They, or should i say we(excluding me of course) find it pointless to spend $45000 for a BMW when a $20000 Impala or Fusion can do the same thing. It may not go very fast, but it gets there fast enough.
laParka777 1 month ago
@Janusha and as for Harley Davidson, thats just an American thing. Its been around since 1903 or so, so its in our roots. Sure there are many Americans that have Japanese sports bikes and dual purpose European bikes, but there are many more who have Harley's. It's like the muscle car(well pony car really). We know they cant handle very well(they can mind you if they upgrade the suspension) but they go fast and sound great for a decent price. What can we do. Thats just the way America is.
laParka777 1 month ago
@laParka777
Janusha 1 month ago
Ofcourse Harley goes way back. But again. When the superbike tech evolved, Harley instead played the patriotism card and made "ricers" unamerican and Harleys synonomous with freedom, the american dream and all which is good about the red, white and blue. This way there has never been a NEED to produce top quality inorder to sell vehicles. I dont want to be the bringer of doom here but I think all these arguements isnt so much over whats ACTUALLY best. More about nationalism and waving that flag.
Janusha 1 month ago
Ofcourse american cars CAN handle. Racecars have done it since the 60s. But as Ford says about their mustangs. If they implemented Porsche quality suspension and undercarriage, the Mustang would "miss its targeted audience" which means... if it was as good as a Porsche, it would cost Porsche money. MY arguement, however is... Go for it. Build more expensive cars. Porsche outsells Corvette in USA and sells 120 000 cars a year. Ever cheaper cars built in third world countries clearly isnt working.

Ive read alot of comments on here hating on exotics and bragging about the acr and what not, now im not here to say the acr is a bad car because its not it an amazing car but not to be compared to exotics. Exotics combine luxury, technology, refinement, comfort, and speed all into one package while the acr has just speed.
fifafan1 1 month ago
@fifafan1
Janusha 1 month ago
What has changed since is build quality, tech and styling. Which is exactly where americans are reluctant to follow the top brands because all these things make cars more expensive. Instead they sprinkle them with patriotism, perform mediastunts on tracks around the world with fully factory backed race crews setting misleading lap times and hype them to the skies. While in reality the Viper died because nobody bought it and Corvettes sell only in america where they are outsold by Porsche.
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha: Yep. No different from when Mercedes sprinkle patriotism about their cars all over TV. And no different when Porsche performs their media stunts on the Nurburgring using pro drivers and cup tires. And lastly, Porsche outsold Corvettes. But yet Camaros out sold Porcshe. SO I guess in your ignorant world, that makes Camaros better than Porsche.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha: So its a redressed built Holden even though GM owns Holden. And Holden is literally living off of GM's parts and engineering. Now that doesn't seem to make any sense. Hmmm. You could have atleast mention the fact that it was Chinese designed. lol As if I'm gonna hate the car just because someone else had a hand in building it. And lets not also Forget the Mustang outsells all Porsche performance models here as well.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha: Internationally competitive? Why?? We build cars that everyone here can afford. Its about "here". Not about what the rest of the world wants. If we can sell Europe just a few mustangs, corvettes, then thats a big bonus for us because we prefer the "bang for your buck" approach. Now of course there are a few cars that is not really being built by a budget. Fisker Karma is one of those family luxury cars, and of course the SSC Tuatara needs no explaining.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha: Actually. Since you cant read, I didn't expect you to do basic research. Because you would have learned that Henrik Fisker is an american that started that company in California, it doesn't matter where the cars are built or who designed them. They are american branded cars. If we go by your ignorant logic, then all Lotus cars are Japanese cars and the Arash AF-10 is an american car.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@Janusha: Secondly SSC has never released an official release time table for the Tuatara. Up until now. Their pre orders have already passed that of the U.A. The U.A. sold 14? Well thats only 10 less than the overpriced overated Veyron SS that gets destroyed in a 1/4 mile by a modified GT-R.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 month ago
But sure.. an office and a brand name is all it takes to pass for american.
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha: Thats great. The Veyron wins the selling contest. I guess thats an achievement considering that they are backed by a billion dollar company vs. a company that just produced their first production car. Wow what an achievement for Bugatti. The funny thing is they even admitted the only reason why they released the SS, was because the Ultimate Aero took their top speed record.
V8Supercar1 1 month ago
@Janusha: I never said they weren't built in Finland. I said their H.Q. is here in the U.S. I'll tell you what. We will use your logic from now on. The Fisker Karma is european. Lets absolutely ignore the fact that its built with american engineering and parts. Secondly, Lotus cars are japaneese cars since they are built with Japanese parts. And because we are going by your logic again, the Arash AF-10 is american. And the Locus Plethore is also american. Thats your ignorant logic right there.

@ivanrho
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha I don't know the complete details of the Fiat/Chrysler deal but they do have 30% controlling interest. I can look that up later. As far as a factory based race car, these Vipers were taken off the lot from a Dodge dealer in Texas and shipped to Germany. It was not a backed race division. Besides the Ring, the Viper ACR has posted records in over a dozen tracks in the US. Sebring, Laguna Seca are just a couple.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha And also, why are you talking government assistance etc? I'm talking only about sports car performances. And also, IF YOU say that the Ring is not the benchmark, that's because most car companies DON'T have anything that can run there on that track. If you want to read more, PM me your email and I'll send over an article that was written regarding this event with the Vipers. A vaulting task to say the very least.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@ivanrho
Janusha 2 months ago
Nissan started all this crap back in the day when they wanted to marked their Nissan Skyline for Europe. They noted there was no "production" car lap record at the Ring, so they tweaked the shit out of a Skyline and posted the worlds first 8 minute lap. The press made it into a big thing and the Ring got alot of attention. And today... Somehow americans have embraced the Ring as some kind of international benchmark where we all go to see whats "best" and americans came along and beat them all.
Janusha 2 months ago
Whereas in reality these american runs happened right in the middle of their collective bankruptcies desperate to sell some cars in Europe and create hero status back home. Bob Lutz describes in his book, they were so hellbent on "records" they even built parts of the Ring in USA so they could set up their cars specially before they went over there. But its like landing on the moon. Impressive, sure. But who else was trying. Who did you "beat" Ferrari, Aston, Lambo have NEVER been to the Ring.
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha These cars have never been to the Ring because they don't care to. If they had a product that could put down a real time, maybe then they'd do it. So I guess you're stating that the Ring is a bunch of BS and a waste of time. Is that right? Then tell me, what track in the world can an (in your opinion) auto manufacture test their cars in a controlled environment, being the length of the track. Maybe you prefer one of those dash mounted "G" meters for everything?
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha FYI via Bloomberg June 3, 2011: June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Fiat SpA will pay $500 million for the U.S. government’s remaining 6 percent stake in Chrysler Group LLC, ending the Treasury’s involvement in the automaker as Fiat moves to consolidate control. The U.S. Treasury said it will receive an additional $60 million as part of a deal for Fiat to acquire the government’s rights to buy a union trust fund’s stake in Chrysler.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha cont. The Canadian government will get $15 million from that part of the transaction, the Treasury said yesterday in a statement.
The purchase of the U.S. stake will take Fiat’s holding in the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based carmaker to 52 percent. Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne expects to get an additional 5 percent stake in the fourth quarter in return for developing a fuel-efficient car for Chrysler.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha Do yourself a favor and read up on what actually happened with the transactions between Fiat and Chrysler. They were NOT give the company for free. Everything you stated was WRONG so educate yourself first. And your comment that Ferrari, Lambo Porshce and Aston is your opinion. You are not them. I'm not knocking any other car companies like you are. I am simply stating that NO ONE has a faster production car in the Ring. But I guess you think that's child's play lol.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@ivanrho
Janusha 2 months ago
Think about it... Who PAYS for a bankrupt, essentially worthless company. Not only was it worthless, it was tens of billions below the red line. Having to feed hundred thousand workers without actually producing cars. A financial disaster. So obviously they were GIVEN the controlling 30-something % of Chrysler for free + a clean slate with no debts attached. Obama agreed to this because its a political / financial disaster when hundreds of thousands of people lose their job and go on welfare.
Janusha 2 months ago
As for your faith in these Ring laps. Its like landing on the moon. Impressive, sure. But claiming to BEAT everybody else is where it goes wrong. The fact is, much like your claimed Ring laps, nobody else was trying. So who did they really "beat" ? If you are racing against nobody else, you will win. This idea of the Nurburgring as some kind of "international benchmark" is an all american myth... Claiming a Corvette, Viper can do stuff that a Euro supercar cannot, is simply foolish.
Janusha 2 months ago
If you want to pursue the validity of these claimed Ring laps, I can elaborate in quite some detail as I have done my homework when I wrote a big piece on it a couple of years ago.
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha Yes, please elaborate more on this, and I understand that everyone has their opinion. However, keep in mind that unless it is out there and proven as fact, it is simply an opinion or a conspiracy theory. Any reputable car company attempting to break a record needs to have a timing association that is reputable and trustworthy.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha American myth? The Ring is probably the most challenging track out there. Over 14 miles long with so many blind corners and elevation changes, it's not for everyone, or for every car company. Cars without the proper aerodynamics or enough HP would put down a slow lap time. Say what you want about the Ring, I'd like to know what track in the world is more challenging? Oh and the fact that Formula 1 was racing there, as well as Phil Hill and Jackie Stewart means nothing either...
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha I did read that Chrysler took a $4B loan and it was paid back to the government. This was done to save jobs, and not to produce any additional cars. But still, the whole idea that it was given to Fiat for free is no where to be found.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@Janusha I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find where it says Fiat received Chrysler for free. Please tell me where to look.
ivanrho 2 months ago
@ivanrho
Janusha 2 months ago
Janusha 2 months ago
I seriously doubt any of them were associated with timing partners but its not the TIMES I have a problem with. Its the cars. They dont fly over full factory backed race crews to sit and watch. I understand you are somewhat associated with Vipers. Out of the 3, clearly Viper made the most honest run. Atleast they made a special car for the job while Corvette and Cadillac ran highly modified cars. So... Before I elaborate. Tell me. Why should I, or anyone, believe these claims without evidence ?
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha You can view the video here on youtube under: Dodge Viper ACR Recaptures Lap Record at Nurburgring. I wasn't there so I can't say who was doing the timing. What I do know is that there were 2 Viper ACRs borrowed from Tomball Dodge in Texas that were flown over to Germany. Anyway, it seems pointless to keep trying to prove anything here. The bottom line is that the Dodge Viper ACR in its latest form is setting records at tracks across the US. Will there ever be a faster PRODUCTION car?
ivanrho 2 months ago
@ivanrho
Janusha 2 months ago
The ACR was Dodges way of sending the car off with hero status. It goes like a racecar because it its a thinly disguised racecar with numberplates. Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Koenigsegg, Lotus, Aston, Pagani... NONE of the big names tour the tracks of the world with full race crews "benchmarking" their cars. So naturally.... Your Corvettes and Vipers will always be exactly as "best in the world" as they like.
Outside of these mediastunts, they are the same cars as last year and the year before.
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha Let's hear it from you...Tell us all what make and model car for you is your fit. What track or what has your "favorite" car good for? What does it do? Do you race it? Do you show it? It's ok that you have no interest in an American car. I get that because Vipers aren't for everyone. My everyday driver is a Range Rover Sport and I've owned most make and models from across the globe. But let's hear from you....
ivanrho 2 months ago
@ivanrho: Don't worry about Janusha. He she or whatever it is, has been proven bias and ignorant. He is so ignorant, that someone actually made a youtube channel named "JanushaISAFaggot". lol Janusha is just the laughing stock of the internet, and is well known for his constant trolling of american car videos. lol
V8Supercar1 2 months ago
@ivanrho
Janusha 1 month ago
@Janusha There's no sense in debating you when you have no faith in any video that's on YouTube. Because you'd rather see photos of these cars than a video that's set up to show where the actual car is and what the on board diagnostics is showing. Record that who invented? You know what's interesting? I've asked you several times what track is important to you? What make and model automobile is in your opinion, something that does it all for you? But no answer? Hmmmmm.

@ivanrho their already is Gumpert has made a production car thatd fater around the ring the acr

SebastianLong 2 months ago
@SebastianLong

D16Turbo86 3 months ago
@D16Turbo86 Your talking crap about this video but your channel is full of videos of Civics and Neons racing... I rather see a Viper and Ford Gt parked than spend half a second watching some broke kids risk killing themselves and others while racing cars that will never be cool no matter how fast they are.
tigertic1 2 months ago
@D16Turbo86 If you read the info on the video, we just got done running these cars at Homestead Motorsports Raceway at speeds over 150 before hitting the brakes and then in to several turns and then onto the banking curve. Yea I guess we were all like school girls. Haha. :)

@ivanrho What is the deal with the Viper, I thought It was no longer in production or that it was not coming as a Dodge. I can't remember the story.
SickK8GSXR600 3 months ago
@SickK8GSXR600 The Viper is out of current production because they have been approved to move forward with a new model. New car will be most likely a 2013 model as we see it. And it will be still a Dodge and it will still have a V-10.

The V-10 viper is easily one of the most orgasmic sounds on the planet.

@videoman191 Cool - a viper doesnt fart and you don't have to change it to make it look....well i would say good, but i have yet to see a "cool" honda civic, lol!
iwasadeum 3 months ago
The 2010 Viper ACR just posted a mind blowing 7:12 time at the Nurburgring about a week to two ago. And the ACR-X, Dodge's track ready race car posted a 7:02. NOTHING, and repeat NOTHING, not even the Lexus LF-A Nurburgring Edition at over $400K can beat it. Oh, Lexus built 50 Limited Run of their special editions. Is that really a production car? I don't think so, but their 7:14 time wasn't bad for a 400K car. Right, lol.

@ivanrho You also have to know that the Lexus LFA is a 6 cylinder, while the Dodge Viper is a V10...
AidenTimmins 3 months ago
@AidenTimmins What??!! What magazine are you reading?? The LFA is a V10 with over 560 HP at the cost of $445,000. Please get your info right before posting.
ivanrho 3 months ago
@AidenTimmins It doesn't matter what you have, a V10 or V6 or even a V8 like the Corvette ZR1. The Enzo has a V12 and didn't even post a time close to the Viper.
ivanrho 3 months ago
@ivanrho the enzo wasnt run by the company nor did it have racing slicks, notice every other car with shitty times were posted by magazine drivers as to the top 4 cars are posted by there company?
fourmilesnipe 3 months ago
@fourmilesnipe The 2 Vipers that went over there were provided by Tomball Dodge. Call them to verify. The driver was a driver for Ferrari who happens to know the course well. And the tires were DOT for the street, NOT a true slick. I'm not sure why you're making up excuses for Ferrari or how you even know that. But I'll take your word on that.
ivanrho 3 months ago
@ivanrho im not making excuses, its like that for the ford gt and everything else, look up the lap times.. i dont think its fair is all..
fourmilesnipe 3 months ago
@AidenTimmins you fail at life kid...
RemediS14 3 months ago
@ivanrho If it's so good then why did Dodge need an 8.4 L 167lb of torque more than the 4.8L LFA? Why do American cars need such big engines and the ACR need the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires too the LFA only used OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires no where near as good as the MPSC on the ACR... And the ACR only pulls only 2 seconds more! Lets see the LFA with an 8.4L and similar tires...

CemetaryGatesML 5 months ago
@CemetaryGatesML Can't get a hold of the crappiest Viper for less than 100 in Australia. Sucks.
tkotomy 5 months ago
@tkotomy damn that sucks.... must be because they gotta be imported.
CemetaryGatesML 5 months ago
@CemetaryGatesML Yeah i mean all of that at most would cost what? at mos. 2k for all the different tax, say 3 grand for registering it on road, lets call it 7k. Shouldn't be paying more than 40 for an old one. They just like to rip people off here. Better off importing it yourself.
tkotomy 5 months ago
"honestly the ACR and Ford GT can be bought for about 80K used."
-i've never seen a single Ford GT for sale below $150,000, but a 2008 Viper SRT10 ACR was less than $100,000 base price, so they may sell for about $80,000.
yuskjr 5 months ago
@yuskjr then your looking in the wrong place... i've seen them sell for that price.
i kno a guy that bough a used ACR for 70k.
CemetaryGatesML 4 months ago
@CemetaryGatesML Agreed, BUT the Ford GTs are still about 125K plus.
ivanrho 3 months ago
@ivanrho i've seen a few selling for around 80-100 used.
most expensive one i've seen was a special edition of the 69'GT40 "GULF" 2tone paint job.,,
that was 140k.
CemetaryGatesML 3 months ago
@CemetaryGatesML I don think so. GT prices are on the rise, sadly for me =( Cheapest GT on DuPontRegistry is $155,000. Average running rate now for a Ford GT is $200,000+ =\
iwasadeum 3 months ago
@iwasadeum maby were you live, hell i just saw a GT on kiijiji ( online classifyed adds) much like autotrader... for 90k, and another one for 110k.
CemetaryGatesML 3 months ago
@CemetaryGatesML Really? Hell i cant find anything that cheap that hasn't seen a guard rail, haha
All the ones on DuPont though seem to be under 1,000 miles and chassis numbers seem to be below 100 in most cases.
iwasadeum 3 months ago
@iwasadeum that could be a good reason...
most of the ones o've seen have about 30,000Km on them.
