It's funny how you can always spot who will eventually "survive" in the execution ceremonies. Take this clip for instance; Kelly (after a bit of searching and struggling) did eventually manage to get out, but Lauren didn't so much as leave a dent in her coffin throughout the entire ceremony.

In the other episodes (that I've seen anyway) this becomes more obvious, but you get the idea; the person who will be "killed off" makes little to no progress even after their opponent has already escaped.

You can tell that they don't die for example in this execution ceremony when the first girl got out of the coffin they showed the loser yelling for the other person's name and they shut of her cameras... so they can dig her out

@342WEIRDO Basically, the only thing in the Constitution mentions that courts/the government cannot sentence you to cruel and unusual punishment. In terms of reality shows, as long as you sign a contract that spells out the general sort of things you will go through, they can do whatever they want, as long as they don't injure/kill you, plus in all reality show contracts, there'll always be an escape clause allowing you to withdraw from the competition at any time if you're unwilling to go on.
