I'm not a fan of straight pipes. My '07 Sonata has custom-made headers, high flow cat, Insynerator bullet muffler to replace the resonator, and a pair of Insynerator Performance Series (2-Chambered) mufflers and it turned out great! Quiet idle, loud at WOT, and street legal. In Texas they look for any excuse to pull you over. No exhaust is an easy red flag.
Headed to Autozone to pick up some breaks, but I may have to get some flex pipe while im there! Getting 40 Deltas soon, but I think this cheap alternative will suffice for now!
I have the same car, i have flowmaster 40 series on it and it sounds great, might get a high flow cat. i get 14mpg city. and its verry fast, got it up to 145 once. first major problem with em are motor mounts, tranny, and berrings and struts. for those looking to get one, great car.
My friend has one of these, with the North Star V8 4.0 and its an amazing car and is very good at getting side ways in the winter even with the parking break my buddy does it all the time and its fun as hell and we got it up to 137MPH before and we was shittin break lol, but just recently the head cracked and is dead. but over all amazing cars.
these r 4 liter v8s right...wut year and wuts the horse...i drive a 96 impala ss im looking fo something a little faster but same lux/comfortable..would this be comparable
what do I think? i think, 3rd setup, plus a custom Twin Turbo setup. Since i can only find air filters for aftermarket upgrades for this car, which sucks ass
LOVE IT! Although the sound quality isn't the greatest, it gives me a good idea where to go next. I think I'll delete the resonators this weekend....maybe post a video?...lol
BTW, mine is the same color as yours, but I have a dented drivers front fender (sucks, try finding one of these in the boneyard!).
@mreddy3 wen u have the exhaust open like that, is it so loud that its illegal? cuz wen u were in the car it didnt sound very loud, cuz im lookin to get a northstar v8 and put it in a 4th gen camaro, either with open headers or cutouts
@homelesspimps Ive been running the straight pipes for a good while now. Honestly I'm going to quite it down a little. To answer your questions its really fucking loud at WOT. Inside noise isn't bad, but its loud enough to annoy anyone who is over 40 yrs old riding in the car. I haven't been pulled over for noise complaints but it's a 100% possibility.
Cut your mufflers off as close to the actual muffler body as you can. Go to AutoZone, buy flex piping and 4 clamps. From here just fit the flex pipe into the spot the the mufflers had previously occupied. I would suggest getting some high temp pipe sealant for your connections. All of this was done for about 20 bucks!
Muffelers have nothing to do with emissions. you can violate noise pollution laws, but not emissions unless you toy with the cat. just delete the mufflers.
Mreddy, your ride sounds great. I currently have the second option (no res) and cant wait to have my mufflers deleted!
well im thinking money here flomasters are a lil more than it would be if i went with glasspacks and plus have u heard kliffs old aurora with his four glasspacks
Great video, man! It's nice to hear a 2nd gen with different types of exhaust. I prefer the straight pipes myself (thats what I have on my 96), but I can see how version 2 would be better for daily driving.

I think the third option is the best. It doesn't seem too loud and sound really strong. Good video

@mreddy3 why not just buy flowmaster mufflers instead of creating some hilarious noise pollution you silly dick!?!?
GodlessMartyr666 1 year ago
that sounds awesome, i am thinking of putting on some magnaflows or corsa, I dont think i can pass emissions with no mufflers lol, are you on ACNA?

don't do glasspacks, they won't sound good. I would put on some flowmasters, very good sounding deep idle.
