Try to avoid dualcasting. I know it seems like a very effective attack, but this will only make the creature angrier and you will have no ability to maintain yourself. I was able to beat this creature with Three staggers using the Com/ Rav role. It helped to maintain my level getting to the stagger. Also, avoid using too much potion. It affects your momentum and it makes you lose quite quickly. I barely had to use any potions during the whole game until I got to the middle and I only had 9.

This was the first boss I had trouble with in this game. I never actually got around to finishing this game, it just dragged on a bit too much for me, plus my friend wanted it back. I definitely think that the boss battles were a highlight for me in the game, as it was where you had to be the most attentive toward your paradigms. I began fighting every enemy that I could but I ended up just getting bored and skipping the ones that I could. Overall a decent game that's let down a bit by grinding.

i totally forgot about the buffs but this is how i did it. i didnt kill him but got SOOOO close

i started out w/ slash and burn para

then changed to dualcasting. even tho ravager makes stagger bar deplete faster, the commando effect from slash and burn still remains so its not so slow.

when health on both ppl is yellow i heal, then wait for the efflorescense atk then heal agen.

then switch back to slash and burn and recreate the commando effect. rinse and repeat

i don't know why, but when i fight him, he does that really gay thing with the stagger bar where it all depletes before i can attack and fill it up, and it does it every time.

thank you so much - this boss was driving me crazy until i read your comment about the Fortisol and Aegisol as i hadnt actually used them up until this point in the game and forgot what they were for. without them i could always get its health to about 2 thrirds down but then its attacks got faster and killed me instantly. now it only took me to stagger it once and i won cos all my stats are the highest they can be. what a relief

can someone tell me why i only have ying yang and slash and burn when i fight him? Its so hard to do it with those. I battled for 20 minutes and he was barley dead just by a little more than a quarter

@Tatianna777 Go to the menu, go to paradigm then customize the paradigms you want. Didn't you follow the tutorials? Most people think they can just skip those but this FF game is a bit more complicated then most ff games.

tungsten bangles help too, +150 Hp, if both lightening and hope have their second accessory slot then you have +300 HP for both! AWESOME!

gah, i hate this boss, i dont have any fortisol, and no matter what i do little to no dammage, almost everything i have is full, but i still get beat. i took a break for a week then came back and got his health down to 1/3 then he did some wierd move and killed me instanly.....WTF?!?!??!?!

It's easier to build up your stagger if you:

1) Use Slash and Burn an start up the Stagger bar.

2)Immediately switch to Dual Casting and attack.

3) Immediately switch to Slash and Burn again in order to slow down the rate at which the Stagger bar goes down.

*Optional*- when you're taking damage, switch to a War and Peace paradigm. This will allow the medic to heal the party while the Commando keeps the stagger bar steady. Just switch to a Dual Casting Class after that.

all you have to do is upgrade commando and youll get youre HP up to 800 or so and man upgrading swords is hard work it takes dedication man

@ExtremeEmotion1 Equip any Bangles you have. Make sure you are leveling HP in the Crystarium. My levels were as high as they could be before this fight.

you got lucky, he usually does a devastating grapple move after the first stagger that instantly KO's Hope. He didnt use that on you. The first half is easy, but the last half takes forever.
