I mean, it's no where near my nan's accent but it's still ok. Lol I understand what you mean about white people trying to speak patois. • As a guy who's been listening to reggae since the early years (6 years old or so) this is a piece of cake to pronounce, and the broken down words actually make sense in the lyrics now heh.

  • is it basically improper english?

  • @juan02thon yessir it is!

  • @juan02thon No, It's a mix of French, English and broken English.

  • who put this sissy boy to jamaica?...

  • @VoVikMakaR BWAHAHAHAHAH my yut ya got meh on deh floor lmao

  • @buffal0b

    xD

  • @VoVikMakaR LOL

  • It´s a shame that the person who wrote the "subtitles" doesn´t seem to know which English word is being used eg wagwan = what go on = what´s going on. A lot of the time there´s no mystery, just a knack of understanding the pronunciation....not always, but a lot of the time. Seen? ;)

  • the thing is, yes this is how you might speak in jamaica, but what you see in this video would be a less mannerable version. Basically, bye is bye, hello is wagwaan or waa'em, and where is wishpaw or weh. "where is it?" = "a wishpawt it deh?" or "weh it deh". "faggot or gay" is "battybway or fassy or chichi"

  • LOOOL Grandad

  • patois sounds like a dumbed down, down syndrome version of english. THUMBS DOWN IF YOU AGREE.

  • @RumbleM0NKEY Jamaicans during slarvery time communicated in a way that the white people would not understand. They used this to their advantage when they rebelled and killed off as many whites as they could.

  • My favourite part:

    Ras: Galaang an leff me

Sexy Rexy: *blank stare* Ga? Guhlong where you lef me. Gallang ahh leff me

  • LOLOLOL! Oh Rexy, you are too sexy!

  • Cute

  • lmao, this is Good

  • Red stripe.x hhah

  • so hes teaching him how he imitates the language of the guy hes talking to?

  • Rexy is the One and Only !

  • hes not even teaching him anything he doesnt know already...

  • people that try to talk like a jamaican are only making them selves look stupid, if you cant speak patois naturally, save your self the embarrassment and dont even try

  • This white boy is fuckin stupid

  • White boy learn the fake Patois. Snow from Toronto, fake patois.

  • AMERI-FAG please fuck yourself off of my youtub. TOSSER.

  • mi tink dis fassy never ever overstand wha gwaan

  • i want to be jamaican

  • U dun no mi a say? BUMBA

    mi gaan now...

  • im asian and id think i'd be sooo bomb to be born in jamaica. have a accent and dreadlocks? sexayyyyy

  • @MustBeFiend theres a lot of asians that was born in jamaica

  • @MustBeFiend haha im asian and feel the same way

  • So Rexy dont have no manners...of course Jamaican patios has a "please". Rexy just rude.... the correct and polite request is..... "Gimmi a Beer nuh" not .."Mi waan one beer". that is just rude. Nuh is the equivalent of Please. ie. "gimme a break nuh".

  • WA GWAAN MON!!!!!

  • THIS IS FUNNY

  • what a joy it is being jamaican

  • ey bitch mi waan one beer!

  • @SKshooter ya mann

  • Is this really patois? It just sounds like broken english, I heard someone speak Patois before and it's a lot more different than just a few broken english...

  • @supitstom Remember that is just basic. kinda like when in school when you learn few spanish words then when u hear the full thing its diffrent

  • great video!

  • lol the guy is laughing the whole way through!

    Surely racist?

  • fantastic tourist & rexy

    big love from amsterdam

  • th white battybwoy mehk a foohl uh himself.

  • @allpimp123 Says the guy who types like a moron when we all know he speaks english and was raised in the U.S.

  • I need help. my new boyfriend is Jamaican and doesn't mind teaching me but i would like to remove the language barrier from our relationship as quickly as possible. what can i do...spend a lot of time asking him to repeat himself, he doesn't mind but i do, i get embarrassed for not understanding.

  • I wouldn't stress. It takes time to pick up. A lot of American slang and accents flew over my head when I first lived in the States.

One thing, Americans tend to talk from the front of their mouths and extend their vowels. Patois generally uses shorter vowels like "ah" "oh" "uh" instead of American "ooo" aaaaye" and we OPEN our mouths and use our whole throat when we talk.

  • how do you say: i wanna smoke a fatty.

  • hahahaaa : galang where ya left me?

  • Oh my god the guy on the left is making a tit of himself.

  • your right, he's a douche...battybwoy

  • Gotta start somewhere. I'd give the guy a break. American fast-talking slang flew over my head for a good year and a half at first.

  • raasclaat

  • white ppl fail at this, ive heard that its insulting for a white to try to speak patois in jamaica. im white, i do my best not to insult other cultures and would like do know please.

  • I was in Jamaica in 2002, and everyone kept on trying to make me speak their way, the cool way.

  • Man, are you kidding me? It's just like any other country or any other language. Think about your own language, and think about how you'd feel if a foreigner approached you speaking it without any proper grasp of how it's used. Now think about how you would feel if a foreigner approached you with a real understanding of your language.

  • Then think about all the other different types of people you know and can think of in your country, all the different mindsets and levels of intelligence, then think about how they would react to either situation. At any rate, if you're interested in a foreign lanuage, it's probably best to find a student of the language you know who is fluent in the language you want to learn.

  • Don't sweat it. If you're there for a good amount of time, you can pick it up. Same like how I'm Jamaican and pick up more American twang when I stay in the US.

  • no broughtopsy! LOL!

  • lol i love this vid

  • this is lame i here dis all dat time
