@combly7 The reason you don't see many servers on PC version is because it doesn't show games that are currently playing. As there is no join in progress. So you only see a few servers, when there are really alot going on.

The command system takes some getting used to. Other than that, the layout is very intuitive. I have played ARMA2 and find that it feels obtuse and unnatural. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a great balance between simulation and fun game-play.

BTW ArmA2 has TONS of bugs.if they polished it a bit more it would make the best game ever.i tried to play it but after 2 days i was sick of the dumb AI,bugs and the not user freindlly way that you command your team.

i played arma2 now very long and the AI is by far not dumb, the AI in OFP can't even shot rightly + nearly all of the bugs very already fixed with the last patches

and btw you can't realy compare this games, arma2 = simulation OFP = arcade

For those that talk about poor graphics you aren't taking into account the average pc user and their computer's ability to render the entire world. This can include consoles as well. There are reasons why the graphics are not like crysis. It would be nearly impossible to have a completely rendered environment like this and that quality of visuals. This game isn't about how it looks it is about how it feels. It's a simulator not a portrait.

i bought this game the day it came out and i must say its quickly become one of my favorite game its completly different from alot of games it has open world like far cry 2 but they keep you moving with mission objectives. maps can be played through quickly if you blow by all the secondary objectives but if you really take your time and run through the mission with 3 of your friends your can easily spend and hour and 30 minutes on one mission completing all of the secondary parts to the mission

well its kinda llke MAG its on such a large scale that the dev team has to make cuts somewhere in order to make the gameplay smooth and playable, ive been playing it on pc and have all the setting cranked to max and this game looks spectacular but even still ive seen a few things ingame that didnt look as good as everything like insides of buildings are empty your buddys weapons are all low qual looking but the gameplay definantly makes up for the minor things this is not a run and gun shooter

Can you snipe? I have only seen footage of assault squads but no footage of someone up there sniping.

I would hope that in co-op it would allow one team mate to lay on a mountain about 2 miles away sniping while the riflemen go in and storm the towns.

Yes you can snipe, and I agree but a shot from 2 miles would be nearly impossible. Even a 1 mile shot is hard. but so long as your the worlds best sniper and there are no obstructions then I say "Go for It!" Just keep in mind its a reality game, that means the affects of gravity come into play in this.

My question is can we use grass as visual cover even at long ranges.

cause it was very annoying in BF2 at long range even at highest settings grass would disappear, so Grass can be a pain in the as* as a sniper but then it's pointless at long range everyone can still sea you clear as day.

also do grenades emit heat so they can be used as a thermal cover specially smoke grenades.

I like the idea of this game. I heard somewhere that the teams for OFP2 and ARMA2 share the same somethingerather. I mean they're both military sims and they've been released in the same year, maybe it's just their publisher. I dunno, haven't checked.

The way I look at it is OFP2 is like BF2, to ARMA2's PR.

I think overall OFP2 will be more successful, mostly due to better accessability (something that the arma2 team admitted there wasn't much of in their game haha)

Personally I I love big maps in shooters, But they dont seem to go down very well. You seem to get more people on the small frantic maps as seen in Battlefield BC and other games I carnt remember. People where always complaining saying the maps are just too big. I think they should of cut it down maybee by half and give us a few different ones otherwise it will become boring very very quickly im sure. Imagine yourself playing the same map for months. Well if thats the case there should be more MP maps then right ? as I said above it would become boring quite quickly on 1 map but now you say that 1 map is even smaller. Im starting to worry now theres not gonna be much to this game just like that huge map in FUEL. Obviously with this being a shooter therl be much more to do in a big map but will still get boring after id say a good month. Surely they carnt bring out a game with only 1 map.
