Where would you recommend to go backpacking in Tenns. I am serious about coming there to go backpacking. My wife enjoys it as much as I do. The first time we went out together, she had to cut the wood for the fire and all of that. She a trooper too. We both have a good time when we get away. My family owns some land that has the old farm (whats left of it of Great Grandparents) we found the fruit cellar and have a brick in the house from it. It has a pond and we swim there, too. Let me know.
I think I going to have to plan a trip to Tenn. to go backpacking. I know in April and May, I will be in the Rockys in Colo., on to Bryce and Zion Canyon in Utah and finally to the Grand Canyon in AZ. I have been invited to go on some the AT next summer, and that goes through Tenn. I love the Smokey Mtns there but never spent anytime in them. You make it so I like to go in Tenn to backpack too. have a good day....
@MrJmfitch Well the Charit Creek lodge does rest in a valley & the Twin Arches trail head is on top of a ridge, I just can't recall the specifics of feet ASL. I would rate the hike at moderate, but that's subjective & from my perspective. The arches are great to see, I think you'll dig this one!
@gullars83 Thanks gullars, there is a link below the video to itunes or amazon to purchase this piece if interested. This song is "Aquarium" Take care
Last March I did two days in the Big South Fork. I hiked Laurel Creek, which is gorgeous. I camped my first night there with my Red Doberman, Evie, in what was almost a grotto against a huge, rock wall. Just a few steps away, the clear waters of Laurel Creek, which is strewn with giant bouders, some 15' high and 30" long. That night was pretty darn cold. Next morning I we hiked to the Big South Fork River. The next night, we stayed at The Charritt Creek Lodge. Wood stove. Real bed. Slept great.
@heymama1 Thank you for the great story about your trip. As you saw in this video we also stayed in the Charit Creek Lodge. What a great place & the valley it sits in has a nice secluded feel. Take care heymama
Looked like an awesome trip. I like your wrist watch on the carabiner, might have to steal that one. As for the alarm clock ill let you keep that one, lol. Take care man, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, too, man! As usual, really diggin' the places you go to. All the outcrops, overhangs, caves, slopes, and rivers come together to make something really nice.
@DemonHide DH! thanks for taking the time to not only watch most of my humble videos, but to comment on them as well. Alway great to hear from you & again Merry Christmas
Enjoyed your outting and very well produced. Nice scenery. Do you carry your alarm bell attached to your neck knife or off a belt loop? Got to remember that one as a must carry.
@shugemery Thanks Shug, I had hand warmers going in the pockets & they lasted a good 10 hours. Just before I got them out my hands were loosing some dexterity so they came in mighty handy.
Good to hear someone got a laugh out of the alarm clock. My hiking comrades are good fellas & they can dish out the pranks too.
Neat to see the arches. I'm used to seeing them in the desert and not that type of terrain. Never rappelled of an arch. That would be cool as all get out. Funny how you woke everybody up in the morning. I bet there were a few curses that morning. Thanks for taking us along Campfire. That was a lot of fun to watch.
Fantastic vid and music. Definitely wished you shot more vid. Were those FX snowflakes at the end? Looked surreal :). BTW - need to lose that watch and just get in tune with your internal clock!! Merry X-Mas
@2ARights I appreciate the complements & I wish I had more time for making videos, but this all a side project for me. The snow was real & I'm not crafty enough to put in any CG : )
@mrsdjsdj You are right mrsdjsdj the same rain pants that you have & they worked out great. Thanks for the comment & for watching, always great to hear from you.
Merry Christmas CampfireTalk! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful x-mas gift with everyone. I hope to see some of the white stuff here soon as I have not seen even a flake yet.
Wow, rain for at least 8 hours, did everything dry out before morning? Love the trees in the mists, and the arches. Thanks for filming the memory for us!
@drzmanproject I was just talking to one of the guys that went on the trip & told him that I wish I had shot more video & taken more photos. Thanks DrZ for taking the time to watch & Merry Christmas.
That weather looks exactly like if I look out my front window for the last two weeks. Hope you and yours have a good Christmas, and God's blessings on you for the upcoming year.
I'm feeling chilled to the bone just watching! Looks like an awesome adventure, and what great scenery. You guys look like the Fellowship of the Ring trekking through the land of Gondor!
@TheLateBoyScout Ah I'm glad you're as geeky as I am. You're comment made me laugh & I would be lying if I said that we didn't talk about Gollum on this trip : )

Hey Camp...That's some gorgeous territory! Too bad the weather wasn't cooperating. Did you have to reserve that lodge prior to your trip or was it open to anyone? If you haven't already, check out the Backbone Rock area (Shady Valley, TN)?? If you do a quick google search, you'll see some similarities in terrain.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!!
@BrewByU Brother Brew Merry Christmas to you as well. We did not reserve it ahead of time, but luckily they were open & let us pay for it on the spot. I'll check out Backbone Rock & who know maybe one day I'll have a video from that locale. Take care my friend
your alarm clock = BANG! Looks like your winter fur in coming in nicely. I will tell you that some of my more favorite outings have been during inclement weather. You have to love that little extra challenge. Thanks for taking us along. Great scenery and looks like great friends to tag along. Merry Christmas.
@hinckleypoland I couldn't agree with you more on the inclement weather comment. The trips that stick out more in my memory involve being out there with snow or the sound of thunder.
I'm glad you weren't on this trip because it would have been pretty rough starting the day off by getting shot at : ) Merry Christmas to you too!
@medicjimr Yes is it! All the precipitation was a blessing & a curse. Blessing in that the waterfall & creeks became alive. It was difficult keeping the camera lens dry & from fogging up. Rain never shows up that great on video, but our environment was saturated. Still we had a blast & I wish I was out there again.
Great video, amazing stability while hiking! Fabulous setting, love the "lodge". Is that lodge privately owned or part of the Park? Can it be reserved or booked?
@david37922 I believe it's part of the park but ran by a private company & yes it can be reserved. We did not have a reservation, but there wasn't anyone else there except for the person that runs it. We were able to pay for the one night at $17 per person. Thanks for the complement

@SnowLobo95 Face fur that's great man! Yeah earlier in the week I thought about not bringing the rain pants or pack cover, but when I checked the forecast for the last time & saw 70% chance I said "I'd better throw those in the pack"

I bet that waterfall would have been cold this time of year eh? Great hike bro! And you're gettin' snow too ;o) Thanks for showing us your part of the world :o)
@Ggreenvideos You are correct about the waterfall. We actually said off camera while standing at the foot of the falls how that environment was ripe for hypothermia, but it sure does look pretty in the video : )
Very nice! You have some great place to hike out there. How are those arches formed? That is some cool stuff there. Love the cabins too. It's kind of fun getting out no matter what the weather is huh. In fact there is so much "summer" here in Fresno ANY weather change is nice! I made it out myself last weekend only for a couple miles but also found a pretty neat place. Check it out when you have the time. Best wishes to you and yours this Christmas!
