I think people think they sound like Woe, is Me because their drums sounds exactly the same, not in the patterns but like the sound it makes when they hit, and the clean singing might be a little similar but WIM's is definitely as distinct as can be, plus the synth can play a big part in the similarity

It kinda sucks cause then there wouldn't be any progression or anything original in the music world, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean I love Patterns, Voices and Vessels, and Vita Nova from this album even if they sound more typical than their older stuff.
