Awesome Jimi covers man. You get him just about as good as anyone can.
I was wondering, do you like John Mayer much? Seeing as how he's so deeply influenced by Stevie and Jimi, I was wondering what your take on him is. Great covers again.
I was pretty psyched about Battle Studies, it's an amazing album, just not blusey. The closest thing they have on there which he may have used the trio for is the song, "Crossroads".
you are very good. you have combination of hendrix and john mayer respectfully. the sound is tight. your tone is very much like jimi's which is really hard to get down for a cover...
What strat is that? I have one that is a 50th anniversary but it has a maple fret board. i purchased it from the local music shop a couple a years ago for around 700 in the case. I just wonder what its worth, what pickups it has, and if its authentic!
This is a 1996 model, not the 2001 model. Fender celebrated their 50th anniversary with a Stratocaster from the Custom Shop that year. The 2001's are the Strat's 50th anniversary.
This one has Custom '54s in it, and it's the real deal (including the painted headstock).
dude i have to pick up my face from the floor because you just melted my face off! i have a hard time with keeping playing the funk in this song but you GOT IT DOWN!!!
Love your playing - I thought I'd learn this because I love the rhythm but I just can't seem to get the break before the chorus, I'll get there one day.
Here in Brazil one of these is like $5000 dolars, or $12000 reais, and there are some guitar like the guitar you're using that costs like $8000 or $20000 reais
You, my friend, are great. I've watched a few of your vids and they're all just awesome. Let me know if you ever need a drummer for anything. I love Hendrix. Keep playing man.

does any1 else have trouble keepin ur thumb on the bottom note while playin the rest of the bar chord? i cant seem to bar the highest two notes with my index while keeping my thumb down...advice plz!!!!!
well heya robert -- long time, buddy -- you're the first place I go looking when I wanna "see" what a song I'm workin' on looks like... as always, helluva bangup job on this one. can you tell me a little about your amp's settings and whatever pedals you might be using to get this kinda tone? thanks brotha - my girls say hi
Hey man! It's been a long time since I videoed this, but I was set on my "clean" channel, no pedals, and I was set to the neck/middle position on the Strat pickup switch. That's where the tone comes from. It's the classic out-of-phase sound that I adore!
Hey bro, you missed a great opportunity to say "the tone -- it's all in my fingers, man." LOL just kidding, but I'm not, because the tone IS all in your fingers. Hand Jimi a two-stringed broom handle and he could've made sweet sounds. Middle-neck, I just tried it with this song and yeah, it's a sweet sound for sure. I keep tryin' to sing this one and keep getting reminded why I shouldn't bother trying to sing.
hey how are you playing the chorus? all the tabs ive found are wrong. they are telling me to play em, g, then an a all in open chords. it doesnt sound right at all but yours does
I found an awesome backing track CD on eBay, which was made using original board track studio recordings, only the guitar track was dropped out. It's basically guitar karaoke, and you can become Jimi! It was the best find on eBay ever!
Just a query whats the position or chord you play at the start of the chorus it would be a big help as ive pretty much learnt this song by watching your video, and learnt others from your other vids.
I've been working a lot on ear training. No matter how badly i wanna look at tabs to certain songs i convince myself to figure it out by ear.
Where do you begin? I usually just find the root note of a chord then play around with it until it sounds right - but that always throws me off when a chord in a song is an inversion.
So yeah, help me out a bit here. How do you usually figure out your songs?
Man, I wish you could come over to my house. I would personally teach you if I could.
Here is something that might help. Go to guitarworld d.o.t com, and go to their "store", and buy the How to play Axis:Bold as Love DVD by Andy Aledort. He breaks it down real well.
Again, I play completely by ear. It helps to LOVE Jimi Hendrix, too!
I know we've talked plenty about the ear thing but... Is it because you know a shit load of Scales or what? I still confuses me yet amazes me with people learning it by ear
No, I am just a do-it-yourself guitarist. I don't read music, or practice scales or anything. I have a good memory for phrasing, so once I pick out the notes, I am good to go.
Again, it takes weeks to completely figure out a song sometimes! =D

There are two guitars in the chorus, and I chose the one in the lower registers. I don't know how I play it...I just play it as I hear it.
