  • a very professional looking job ,looks like you spent a fair bit on that engine and car ,but tell me why 1300cc ?

  • @badslabber Thanks =) 1300 because its different, i dont ee thepoint in just putting in a 1700 crossflow or a pinto because everyon does it, i wanted something different that would make people go....oh, really? that pretty cool =) which it has!

  • @SiMoNsKy22 i thought that, i have two 1300cc xflow sitting about ,and i want to do this only i need something to put it in ,i remember seeing years ago ,this guy had a 1300cc capri mk3 ,and he dont the same rather than put a bigger engine in it ,and it was awesome i think he was getting about 130bhp which is more than a 30 litre cheers

  • @badslabber Best to make sure they're 711m's stronger rods and block. Yeah this engines going to H.P.E soon for the forged treatment haha, forged pistons and a fully re-lighten and balancing. The heads the best you can buy so its just bottom end i can have done now =) A lot higher revs too, little screamer of an engine it is

  • @SiMoNsKy22 they both are 711m blocks ,and they have the T casting one is 17 the other 18 ,i dont know weather thats just a myth about the casting numbers ,any way when my wee boy gets a bit older ,i am thinking of something like a caterham 7 type build ,as the price of mk2 scorts has gone through the roof

  • @badslabber or you could use a stock 2.0ltr pinto with and exhaust and filter and make that power and engine will last much longer.fuel will also be a bit better

  • Very clean bay and sounds superb too.

  • what hp do you think it will be????

  • I'm aiming for somewhere around 120, i'll be happy if itsover 100 tbh! cus im rebuilding it with forged rods and pistonsas well as a knife edged and balanced crank. more revs and it also means i can eventually run NOS if i want to =)

  • well good luck i have a mk2 4door was thinking of putting a 1600 crossflow in it but might look at 1300s nw :)

  • @SiMoNsKy22

any issues clearing the distributor with inlet manifold on the less tall 1300 block?

a vacuum gauge set is needed for carbs.

  • @tpvalley The manifold was custom made to clear the dizzy but not disturb the airflow too much. plenty of movement to make it easier to time the engine up when first setting timing. It depends who is setting up your carbs, My mate did it by ear cus he's been racing with webers for 20 odd years in stockcars and hotrods.

  • nice!

I like the idea of a tuned 1300, why didnt u go for the 1.6 out of interest?

how deep were the pockets in pistons?
