  • This video has helped me mentally so much! THANK YOU! I have thought to myself Christmas would be a free for all.... but then I think could I live with that guilt?

  • Smart move to prepare now! You're gonna do GREAT!

  • Please beware of raw cruciferous veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, etc.) -- they contain goitrogenic compounds, that is, they depress thyroid function. That's why they have that somewhat "bitter" taste when raw -- we're not supposed to eat them raw. I'm curious if you're familiar w/the work of Weston A. Price and westonaprice dot org?

  • I'm well aware of Sally Fallon and the Weston Price Foundation and I appreciate the clarification on the raw veggies. I eat them cooked. :D

  • Thank you so much for your videos!!

  • You are VERY welcome, wannnabeloser! We enjoy making them if you hadn't noticed. :D

  • I hope you don't mind but I am going to start using your word "Carbage" It cracks me up, but in all seriousness it's a perfect word for describing the low quality refined carbs that are readily found all around us!

  • It really fits most of the junk we are served as "food" nowadays, doesn't it? :)

  • Most definitely...

  • Hey Jimmy and Christine, Happy Turkey Day! I can't wait to tell my grandmother that, "Yes I can have that skin on my turkey!"

  • That's right, YOU CAN! :D

  • Happy B-day Christine!

Thanks for the encouragment with the Holidays fast approaching.

Will have to check out the Carb wars book.

    Blessings to you both.

  • You'll enjoy having that CARB WARS cookbook around to make just about all your favorite comfort foods low-carb. Judy did a FABULOUS job with it!!!

  • Happy B-day Christine! I hope it's a wonderful one!

Got my Turkey dinner all planned out, really not very hard to include one or two high carb foods to my otherwise low carb menu. Thanks for the suggests. I got my copy of Carb Wars yesterday. Thanks again.

  • EXCELLENT Vikki! Keep on livin' la vida low-carb!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY Christine!! I have offered to bring dessert to our celebration!! Low- Carb-my way!! It is my chance to show everyone that I am not going without the simple pleasures of life and that we "low carbers" can have our cake and eat it too!!(just sugar free!!) Or as I like to say...My just Desserts!! The holidays will not be a challenge cause I am PREPARED!

  • PERFECT! Bring your own low-carb cheesecake or pie and show 'em what they're missing by not livin' la vida low-carb. YOU GO Alis1200!

  • I hope you had a blessed birthday ChristineQ

Jimmy..you are lucky to have her.

I have said it before, but you said it again...

The feeling of successfully overcoming temptation is so much better than the guilt we heap upon ourselves if we "cheat."

    Burton

  • Hey Burton, you BET I'm one lucky man to have Christine. She's the sunshine of my life and I wouldn't be the man I am today without that woman. You are the perfect example of what happens when you truly commit to this lifestyle change. CONGRATULATIONS and keep it up! :D

  • Great as always!! There were a few times that you guys looked like floating heads:p Maybe it's just cause I'm tired. Hope you have a Great Thanksgiving. Love you guys!!!

    Jodi

  • Yep, wearing black on video doesn't help, does it? :)

  • Happy Belated Birthday Christine!! My dad's birthday is on September 13th too!!! Yeah eating around the holiday's is tough for me cause I eat at 3 different house's! Yup 3!! My gf's, my dad's and my aunt's. So this year I asked my dad to make some broccoli with cheese for me. I just gotta portion it all out evenly

  • THANKS Tony! Christine had an excellent birthday on November 11th. :D Broccoli and cheese is way cool for an excellent low-carb dish during the holidays. KEEP IT UP!!!

  • Great video! Don't forget that if you cook, a lot of traditional recipes, such as cranberry sauce, can be made low carb by simply substituting splenda for the sugar. It's amazing how many recipes can be modified that way with very little difference in the final product!

  • GREAT SUGGESTIONS, ladymd001!

  • Hi guys, as usual an incredible video. You hit on the very subject my husband and I have been discussing. We are going out for Thanksgiving dinner since it is just the 2 of us. The question is whether to allow a planned cheat that day or try to resist. Not sure yet, but either way your advice is tiptop.

    Cathy

  • THANKS Cathy! If you PLAN the splurge and make it just ONE MEAL for Thanksgiving, then I see nothing wrong with that if you get right back on plan afterwards. Otherwise, most people use that day to justify CONTINUING to eat and eat and eat throughout the rest of the year. I'm proud of you for at least talking about it.

  • woooooo yeyey happy belated birthdayyyy xxx

  • THANKS 123imelda! Christine had a grand ole time on her birthday. :D

  • Im down another five pounds Jimmy, I really needed todays advice thanks again!

  • You're doing AMAZING Paul, so KEEP IT GOING, buddy! This is a great head start for the new year!

  • Happy belated B-day :) Christine... Hi Jimmy... thanks again for the video, great ideas going into the holidays...

    Dan

  • ENJOY Dan! And THANK YOU for your faithful viewership of our YouTube videos. :)

  • Happy belated, Christine!

Yeah, this will be my first Thanksgiving on low-carb. My husband and I are planning on making low-carb sides. We may also do a LC pumpkin cheesecake, yum-o! My mom does make some killer pies, so it's a miracle for me to be resisting. Thanks for the video. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the family.

  • It gets easy to resist the longer you been doing this. This will be my fourth Thanksgiving since I started livin' la vida low-carb and I have absolutely NO DESIRE to eat anything other than low-carb friendly foods. And everyone is so accommodating too...low-carb pumpkin cheesecake sounds REALLY good!

  • I'm sure it will get a lot easier. I always had a real sweet tooth and the holidays proved to be my biggest downfall. Luckly, I know there are so many benefits to low-carb that I can't really justify eating the things that aren't good for me. Congrats on your fourth holiday season going low-carb, that is so AWESOME!

  • Four going on fourteen going on forty! :P

  • Great video you two! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Love ya!

  • THANKS Amy! Best wishes on the move and we look forward to new videos from you soon.

  • Happy Thanksgivings to the both of you and thank you for the wonderful tips. Also, Happy Belated Birthday Christine and wishing you many more...!!!!

  • ENJOY tiparker119! Stick with it through the holidays and you'll be just fine come 2008.

  • Happy Belated Birthday! =D

Great video. You two are a great pair! Have fun at your upcoming dinner with your family! Cheers!

  • We will delicatepetals! Low-carb, of course. ;)

  • Happy Belated Birthday Christine, another great episode guys...can't wait for 14!!!

  • THANKS SimplyStrick! Both of us have a cold right now, but we wanted to get a new video up since my podcast show is down this week. :D

  • i though you all looked a little under the weather...still good webisode, and thanks to you i am patiently waiting on my DANDR copy from amazon...

  • We make the sacrifices to take care of our faithful viewers. :D
