Actually they have 6 gears and the 250cc international superkarts usually lap around most tracks is the same time, or even quicker than a v8 supercar. The only reason the lap times may be abit slower at calder park is because the track surface is so rough and bumpy from all the drags, drifting and just the fact that the track is so old aswell
Ahhhh... memories. Bumpy old joint that was. You have to feel for the poor bastards in the 125's though - the closing speed is staggering. There they are, in their own little world going what seems relatively quick at the time, and an Inter flashes past. Yowsa!

and the g forces are incredible as through to 100 km to 220 km and 4 gears is unbelivable full on mate
