  • that honestly looks more like a king snake then anything i only say that cause king snakes typically have a distorted belly coloration while other snakes like racers and rat snakes tend to have a more solid uniform belly like a king snakes belly might be a mix of black and white or yellow ....a black racer tends to have a solid gray belly and so roth

  • @canishunter black ratsnakes also have a checkered pattern on the belly

  • I have this type of snake living in a small ditch between me and my friend's house, my friend told me it only eats rats and it's not poisonous, there are always rats roaming around in my garage, so I need one of these

  • @coldbloodedsam Nope. If you google 'texas rat snake' you will see plenty of info and photos of them.

  • I read that the black rat snake exists mostly in southeast US and they are more aggressive and grow longer than other types of rat snakes. Here in TX is a different rat snake that gets up to 5 feet. They are dark brown patterned shades. I did run across a black snake here last summer apx 3 feet. Not sure if it was a rat snake or racer. I sure would not stick my boot up at it. It might lunge at it and crawl up your pants leg. Ha! What would you do then?

  • @Accumulator1 stop it before it goes to far up ur pants leg lol

  • Beautiful specimen...thanks for sharing!

  • Just found a 3 ft one out side my house a few minutes ago thought i'd look at some others. Stopped someone from killing him. = )

  • One of these slithered around my wifes feet at a gas station. She said she jumped 10 feet in the air! LOL She had a good laugh about it later on.....

  • I had to do the same thing last week. He wasn't as big as the one in the video though. I walked up on him and he was just hanging out and then I moved him off the road.

  • It's insane though, if u pick one up they tend to mellow out within minutes

  • It was shaking its tail like a rattle snake. Black rat snakes will do that and coil to strike like a rattle snake. They will also climb trees and let off a horrible smell if u pick one up.

  • thats is a black ratsnake some do tend to get pissy

  • where was this?

i dont think that is a black rat snake for a few reasons.

a black rat doesnt tend to coil and strike, especially at humans, and maybe it is just the video quality, but it doesnt have the right markings for a black rat.

  • no realy not all rat snakes have that marking

  • haha, looks like hes chillin crossing his arms. if he had any...

  • My dad had one of these before I was born named Syd. He said they are very fun to put in a dining room(or somewhere else with chairs) and watch it slide around and wrap around the chair legs!

  • i have one of these snakes thats about 6 ft long living in my house hes been here for about 6 years now and i own 6 snakes of my own as well 3 ball pythons and 3 boas so i dont mind having a wild one here he stays in my basement somewhere and he doesnt bother anyone we find his skin here and there and there always abotu 5-6 ft .havent seen him though.

  • Thanks for having the presence of mind to move the snake off the path instead of running it over. Share the planet, man.

  • If I was trying to help get one out of the road and he snapped at me, like he did here, I would have rapidly smashed his small little head into the ground in a heartbeat

  • Your'e and idiot, gmanflyairforce3

  • I have a love/hate thing for snakes..they're really fascinating, but killing them is also pretty cool

  • it's cool if you're gonna eat 'em up.. i had to a couple times.. ate there bones to make my teeth stronger.. no sense in killing them just because they're man enough to defend themselves tho. put yourself in there position they think your gonna eat them like i did lol. if you show them a little respect they won't bite

  • true..how did it taste?

  • didn't really have much of a flavor at all.. but not bad

  • cute snake

  • no black ratt snakes are not poisonious

  • i dont no nothing about snakes well i do jsut a little but is it poisenis?

  • I found a Black Rat Snake a few days ago. Snakes are Venomous, venom is what is injected inside of you. No, they're not though. Any can bite. I've noticed that the small ones who'd not seen many people in their life tend to bite more where I live though.

  • you can tel by hte shape of their head

  • I agree with YouAreMySanity. Thank you for posting it.

  • is that ven

  • Not at all

  • lol, I think the slight nudge in the side wasn't to his liking lol.

    Obviously, I know.

    Thanks for sharing.

    I love snakes :]

Especially when I can hold one and be all "here, I won't hurt, but I'll help you take in heat"

    lol

    again, thanks for this.

    it was cool

  • do rat snake usually bite and hold or they just bite and let?

  • Just bite, bit and holding are most of the time seen in larger snakes that can pull what they bite to them. Of course, not to say that they can't bite and hold, my King Snake done it when it'd tried eating my finger.

  • Probably was guarding it's nearby nest if this was in the spring. Also, noticed it's tail shaking and they can imitate a rattler's shaking tail sound.

  • that was a nice one there not allways in bad moods like that

  • He was not in the mood for you! lol

Nice video. I love snakes. :)
