Actually the suicide door enables you to open the door while moving letting the wind hold the door open thus you can easily jump out or more likely be pushed out. Unfortunately its also hard to close will moving. It was also a hit because it made for easy entering and exiting the car especially women with dresses. Consider the Lincoln "suicide door" from the 1950s-1960s. Very classic.
