I'm not an artilleryman, but just a fan of it. However, I do shoot bp muzzleloaders (matchlock, flintlock and percussion) and enjoy it greatly. I buy my bp from Graf's.
The cannon shots sound more like .22 high velocity shots. I realise that this is the problem of recording the sound. Where do you get your cannon BP from and will pyrodex do. I had BP about a cm cubed in volume which I used for blasting. Do you use such large grained powders for cannons??
Thanks for the video! We were on the extreme right of the firing line shooting at the 1,200 yard targets (you can see our two flags at the limber). We are Battery D 5th US Artillery out of Southern California, and had the distinction of driving the farthest to compete in the 19th year history of the event. On top of that, we won the 1,000 yard Bacon Creek Match the very next day!! We hope to be able to go back again someday, perhaps in 2013 in conjunction with the 150th Gettysburg reenactment.
