I'm sure that Foster the People practiced the song a LOT more than 4 times before they recorded anything... lol... Also its live, so compare it to live, not the original :p. Their live version has more effects and is different too. We are going for something a bit different and clean in some ways, its in a different key too ;) We definately want to do justice to the original song but are not going for a carbon copy by any means. Everyone has their own opinions. You are the first person to say you didn't like it. The people who pay money for gigs have no problems with the sound. So if you don't like it you are free to listen to something else ;) Thanks for your input and all but the music will go on and continue to improve. That's why its called a practice ;)
@MrECLECTICIAN Thank you very much. This was only the 3rd or 4th time that we had rehearsed it. I think that the tempo I established at the beginning was a hair fast, and we need to do a better job mixing the back-up vocals. Other than that I was fairly happy with it, and the police helicopter doing a pass at the beginning was appropriate for this song. Too bad I can't guarantee a flyby every time we play this.
