  • getting closer to holodeck, yayyyyy

  • im a vampire, i cant use shadow thignsss :((((((

  • 2:23, the guy was about to draw a penis when he was reminded that it was gonna be posted on youtube.

  • Why would someone dislike this. This is crazy!!!

  • @Milos111Zivkov Probably jealous that Apple doesn't have something as cool as this.

  • amzing tech i'm sure they will find a use for this!

  • I am immensily excited by the thought of using this technique to build several stationary projectors, combined with the kinect cameras, to make a room into a complete interactive environment; turning around would allow you to see different things. Imagine using this technology in for example a first person game!

  • and then Apple will come along and make it work.

  • @rezzacool And then Apple will come along and claim they had this idea all along.

  • lol image in like 50 years when this is standard built in to any room of a house. Life will be AWESOME.

  • Must. Have.

  • 4 people obviously hate the future...

  • silly & useless

  • Please, take my money and give me these.

  • So what if: You make a projector for the whole room, than kicnect cameras to see where the person in standing and than make a hat so the kicnect can see how the person is looking at something?

  • @ 3:45 He sounds angry lol

  • incredible

  • @thebossXI a prototype is a working example of the concept. Duh.

  • this is soooo cooool. You guys said that it was a "prototype." This thing looks almost complete.

  • did JD_2020 send u here

  • now get rid of the projectors and make some glasses that make the virtual images

  • it will all go to waste when they make the AR contact lenses ! luls.... oh wait.. it will actually make it better :)

  • Insted of projectors used glases!

  • just make the projection biger and it would be awesome :P

  • Imagine a maze with instructions and clues you had to reveal!!! that would be so beastly.

  • This means gaming in 2020 will be on a whole new level!

  • I already see virtual ghosts flying around my room :)

  • I've said this before and I'm saying it again: Microsoft should have used this technology to develop things other than gaming first.

  • Paper submissions must be anonymised to facilitate blind review. Authors are encouraged to take care throughout the entire document to minimize oblique and overt references and citations that may reveal the identity of the authors or their institutions.

  • Didn't some band for Norway named A-Ha invent this technology back in the 80's?

  • this could have incredible applications in video gaming, like a augmented reality puzzle game

  • OMG Karl Pilkington was right all along. And we laughed at him.

  • kinda reminds me of Tony Starks set up in Ironman, badass!

  • So you can use this, to make a "virtual button" for banks. They can sound the alarm without anyone knowing :)

  • I'm pissed off because by the time virtual reality stuff like this comes out, I'll be too old to enjoy it

  • This is Amazing!!!

  • am i the only one that finds it creepy?

  • So this is how Portal is going to start..

  • 2:18+ why is there a disembodied head?

  • While the "holodeck gamer" part of me squeals with glee that we're finally getting around to this stuff, the computer scientist part of me says "All the more reason to have the Kinect Swords."

  • This + claustrophobic puzzle-based horror games = Win!

  • This has so many possibilities.

  • lol sell it as kids toy, you make millions.

  • OMG SO AWESOME! I WANNA PLAY WITH THIS! ToT

  • WAOOO...The_future_is_here!

  • The Unabomber disliked this

  • fuck technology (Ak-47) dadadadadadadadadadadadadadada...

  • i guess porn is always the greatest driver for technology advancement

  • 3D glasses and this next? Would be epic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why not mount the projectors all over the room instead of making it handheld? Then instead of a straw hole view you can interact with and view all the virtual objects at once.

  • I can imagine a real virtual reality games with this. Very awesome.

  • Awesome man..!

  • OMFG

  • So basically we're waiting for a lightweight wearable KINECT headband to merge the display with the projection?

  • @dbrucemusic I concur headmounting is the way to go with this. Also this looks like a great foundation for virtual telepresence. it's skype squared.

  • Nice all the parts seam to be made out of reprap like technology.

  • @CptSpiffyPanda Yeah, I noticed the same! hehe I hope they post the models to Thingiverse :P

  • The projector is neat, but instead of using a flashlight view I think they should combine this with some kind of OLED translucent glasses. That way, you can basically be fully immersed in the technology without having to rely on the flashlight thing.

All they would have to do is mark the glasses with something that will be recognized by the camera.

  • HD HARDCORE 3D PORNO! WITH INTERACTION IN THE SCENE!

  • welcome to the future.

  • interesting effect would be achieved if this was strapped to a helmet with few additional projectors to cover field of view a bit more!

  • There was a TED talk on this. Search for Pranav Mistry's Sixth Sense.

Two years ago. and a half.

    M$, I fear, has bought him/them out.

  • Wow, That's amazing. If the projector could be bright enough to be used in daylight, I would be even more amazed.

  • @loonerBot it acts as a flashlight so you would rather use it in a dark room and play an adapted resident evil on it.

  • This can certainly make scavenges and hiding Easter Eggs easier. Instead of hiding everything you can program it, so people can attach these torches to their head, and then look around to find the virtual images. You can then troll them by moving the objects when they're nearly there.

  • 3D Enabled projectors will be used in further experiments to enhance the experience. Chances are that we'll end up with something like the simulation room with actual force feedback etc in star trek : the next generation

  • hey! this is just like Pranav Mistry's work!

  • Luigis mansion anyone? :)

  • @danlinkgan you.very.unimaginative

  • @danlinkgan have you ever seen George Lucas's THX 1138? yeah

  • @danlinkgan Porn is always at the cutting edge of tech so you can bet on it!

  • The cake is a lie

    The cake is a lie

    The cake is a lie

    The cake is a lie

  • So now we can guilt trip latecoming coworkers when they block and move items off your presentation while looking for their seat.

  • this is... future

    so great omg

i wanna see the source code :DDD

  • Respond to this video... camera projector will go into pad soon.A looking at it probably?

  • I'm impressed!

  • the problem with microsoft is that they release the prototypes to early, that's why apple amazes everyone by they're keynote.

This just looks loke shit and uninteressting

  • @GibsonGash Hahahaha. Apple releases 10 year old technology all the time.

  • so the room cannot be altered once it has been modeled? This creates the idea of a VR room, which will act as a closed "hot set" for the user to enter into and interact with. Imagine an "internet portal room" which would act as the UI. The room is the browser and computer. Couple this with some spot-on voice recognition tech and you have a very immersive experience.

  • @janikbrothers if you develop the projecter into a set of glasses (provided theyre comfortable enough lol) couldn't you theoretically have the entire room rendered in augmented form in the glasses instead of just using a projecter to simulate the 3D? And then if the LCD glasses had one screen for each eye, it would be fairly easy to create believable, interactable 3D models within the room that actually look 3D to the person, idk if that even makes sense, so please correct me where im wrong lol

  • Here comes virtual reality!

  • SECOND

  • superb!
