  • MILF.

  • Ok! just the reference to hoagies says Philly..I'm not sure about monkeys but the cwafy and wooter was right on the money.. I'm from philly and now live in memphi tn, i can hear the accent and tell right away that it is from phily or the surrounding area.. funny video

  • i have lived in philly n ow for 4 years...they also say ' i sawll you the other day' 'i want to axe you a question' and 'i like to drawll'

  • Munted

  • PORT RICHMOND

  • You are dull...not interesting, like you think.

  • So Hot Mom on Acid.

  • wtf?

  • My ear never hears the supposed difference in pronounciation of "egg," but isn't "wooder" (for "water") pretty common along the east coast of the U.S. from Washington DC northward up past NYC (but not as far as Massachusetts!)? By the way, what's a mustard sandwich? Mustard on soft pretzels is classic Philly. Hoagies on a real Italian roll is standard Philly. "Mustard sandwich" - this Philadelphia kid never heard of such a thing.

  • Despite all protestations otherwise this woman sounds like she's from the "five county Philadelphia region" (including south Jersey, and throw in northern Delaware). She is also quite the actress with her nice command of other accents, but when she wasn't trying hard she sounds local to me! And as for Sylvester Stallone and his Rocky, he and that Paulie were always waaay too New York.

  • "Hitler was an exquisit painter" I died from laughing

  • @LaurenisinWonderland Ah, you quote the cinematographer! ! ! I said "Actually, he was really not that great."

  • The "Phil-dalphia" accent is more gutteral sounding than not. Rocky Balboa is not too far off, but its a bit exaggerated. All o' youz ought to know better. ;)

  • Finally, a REAL Philly accent.

  • what a load of bollocks syndrome. terrible affliction

  • omgoodness u made yourself officiallllly from Philadelphia when you said hoagie too funny (love it)

  • When you imitated your mother, that was spot on.

  • hey, just came across Philly Dialects and this was a great video, helped me a lot cuz I'm from Brooklyn, my cousin now lives in Philly & tells me how funny Philadelphians talk!

    haha,yeah it's funny u call a Sandwich a Hoagie,we say Hero!! :)

    cute lady! :)

  • She sounds Russian

  • this is not a philly accent. im not trying to be mean, im just saying that that's not how we talk (most of us)

  • the coke wif the hoggie sht was like philly ;p lol. lived in philadelphia for 15years o.o

  • sounds like pat

  • She has a Philly accent! The accent came out during her sentence 50 seconds into the video. Her accent also became quite noticeable around minute 5:25 when she said, "really nice". Her accent is more noticeable during the last couple minutes of the video and it has Philly written all over it. Philadelphians tend to like Hitler, so that's a dead give away as well.

  • I got here after deciding to Google a phrase in an email from a friend from Philly. (One of your friends, too. Because everyone has a friend...) But your accents (Philly, etc...) are great. Unexpected and spot on and brilliant.

  • Thank you--what a nice compliment ! I'm so curious which phrase "my friend" used that inspired your search. Rose from the Lycaeum? And, yes, everyone has a friend...in Pennsylvania.

  • Haha, is this lady drunk?

And yes, she DOES have a philly accent.

  • No, sadly I was not. Not even tipsy. But now you make me wonder if my accent would be more pronounced while under the influence. But it's interesting that you hear the Philly accent. Thanks.

  • i dont hear any accent

    philly dont have an accent

  • she doesnt have a philly accent but if your from here you will definitely notice it

  • huh??.... your supposed to notice an accent when your not from someplace ....like i never knew i had a ny accent until i left ny and people told me i had one.....i should be able to notice an accent if im not from philly because it should sound out of the norm to me

  • yea im not from philly but i have lived here for 12 years now and trust me alot of natives have accents stop being an ignorant bitch!!!!!!!! and i said she doesnt have a philly accent but people so its just not as obvious as a fag new yorker like yourself. you ass

  • well well....someone sounds mad......an inferiority complex maby??? jelousy that the yankees are going to bend the phillies over and give them a good spanking and send them back to that little town of philadelphia........yes it must be hard living in newyorks shadow...

hey is stalones accent a philly accent??

  • yankees bought there championship and took steroids in my mind there championship is tainted

  • yea i agree you know how all the other teams have no players who took steroids and dont pay their players........now back to reality dose stallone have a philly accent? is that what it sounds like?

  • good... its good you agree bitch

  • ahhh i c wat your problem is.....ur a jew

  • really fun video!

I was looking up philadelphia accents because I suspect my dad has some influence of it, from his dad who was from there. Recently I heard him use "anymore" in that weird way, and I did a double take...cuz we're from CT and dont say that. I've been trying to figure out my weird CT accent (there's not much info to compare it with)...i'd thought some of my dad's accent might have rubbed off on me

  • This girl is amazing.

  • I hear a slight accent. I can hear it in the long a's especially. I think it might just be a general New England or mid-Atlantic accent.

I recently moved to Philadelphia from Upper MI, and I'm already starting to notice my Yooper accent turning into a Philly accent! Especially when I say things like "on" or "door." It's quite strange!

  • or "wooder" for "water." I'm from Canada and I noticed the "on" and "dawn" change happening. Fortunately, I moved away before it became permanent! Miss the town, though, and of course, scrapple.

  • Im from Lancaster PA and i cant really hear an accent from people who come from rural areas in philly it doesnt stand out to me but urban areas its really noticeable.

  • Very Creative video and hilarious! If you're not an actress, you should be.

  • You do have an accent. It's nice. I don't know what the Philadelphia accent sounds like but you have an accent, which I assume is Philadelphia.

  • did you hire one of those people who type in the courtroom to write down everyting you are saying?

  • I don't here an accent. But then again I've lived in Philly suburbs most of my life, maybe that's why I'm not hearin' it. Too used to the dialect.

  • I was born and raised in South Phila; however, I never adopted a South Philly accent. People from the suburbs would tell me that I don't sound like someone from South Philly. I always took that as a compliment. Yeah, I've had no desire to "Tawk" like they do in South Philadelphia.

  • do they say tawk in philly? i thought that was only new york&jersey?

  • Yes indeed.

  • yes you do! when you go down the shore or when you were younger and went to the Ac-a-me or when you route for the iggles

  • In South Philly you always make your "Cawfee" with "Wooder". You can buy Cawfee at the "Ak-a-me". And need I mention, Cawfee is always great with an Aegg and pepper "Sangwich".

  • It's WOODER! Not Water.

  • well, just because i said you don't have an accent doesn't mean you don't have an accent. i'm from philadelphia and still live here and that is why i said, you don't sound out of the ordinary to me. however, if you're from CT like you said in the video, then you don't have that common new yorkish sound to your voice like ppl do from that area. : }

  • I was transplanted into CT! There are several CT accents--one has the NY twangish thang, then there is the central CT accent in which "t" in a word become silent--like New Britain is said like "New Bri-in." Living here tones down the Philly accent in some ways yet when my Philly rears her head here, it stands out!

  • I think there is something to that missing "t" aspect of CT accent, but I never really got the "New Britain" example that people use. I mean, how ELSE would you say it? Shy of saying it the "proper British" way, how else would you, -- I assumed all Americans would say Britain like that? Maybe it is just cuz I'm from CT and it's the only way I've ever heard it???

hey, since you're from CT now, see if you can guess the words in my accent!:

    /watch?v=uSzlvwnMS5Q

  • Well, OK, I'll venture a guess but first you need to direct me. Is your "/watch?v=uSz etc." an incomplete url or something?

  • coolio....

Well, yeah, youtube comments dont allow posting actual URLs, so what you do is add that ending to the standard URL beginning. Just imitate what a Youtube video URL looks like! :)

  • So where are you from, Philly or CT? you sound normal to me i dont really hear ya accent except for when you say thing with an accent on purpose.

  • Well, thank you, JollyRancha!!! I have been telling people for YEARS that I have no detectable accent.

  • this is great..i miss home now
