My bike lock is stuck! I tried this , but the problem is that the locking part (stem) was only 3/4 of the way into the lock when I locked it up (the light was not good).. I tried pushing the stem in, using this technique, and also tried this for opening it up. It's a master. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you know a way to reset the combination without the current combination. We have dozens of locks with unknown combinations. I can open most of them, but want to change the combination.

@Linus135 - the red cover has a small removable plug in the middle that you need to pry out. Then it's exactly the same technique.

how do you get the little shim to go into the defcon lock? I cut a little strip out of a soda can, like you say, but it just bends and gets stuck. It doesn't seem stiff enough to go in. Any tips?

Is it the Defcon CL? I know in newer versions they have fixed the problem.

Kensington lock: This method only works on Defcon CL locks with either a Black or Grey plastic cover. The locks with a red cover will prevent this method.

I've got the tool (.008 feeler gauge, ground down to slip in above digit wheel, with hook) but CANNOT open my Master 178 lock asyou do! 178 look just like 175, did they do something different inside? I cannot get pick to move the fingers inside down! What's that trick?
