May I say politely. Unfortunately your tank is artificial looking and it does not resemble any biotopes from the Lake Malawi. Take a look at so many authentic videos from that lake. Try real and beautiful rock formations, rocky canyons and rock walls. Then you can have a three dimensional scenery. And then your fish species will be a part of that scenery!

@grimmreapo It really doesnt matter now does it...it seems his fish are acting just fine....mixing lakes doesnt matter if you know how to set up your tank... I've got at least 2 from each lake not to mention 3 south americans...had them all for 2 years and havent lost a fish yet...I even have a frontosa thats 7" long and about 3 pounds that doesnt bother any of my other fish...I can put any baby or fry in there and they wont touch them......it's all about to the keeper and the environment

nice tank. It's a shame that people can't just accept that it's a nice tank & that your fish seem to be doing well. I have 8 tanks (4 devoted to cichlids Africans, S.A. & N.W.) it's really a matter of how well your fish will all tolerate each other and that they get a varied diet.... As far as fish selection goes... whatever works for you is all that matters!!!!

I wouldn't mix the Tropheus (black fish with white spots is one, called midnight tropheus (common name)) with your peacock cichlids. To much protein in their diet may cause them to bloat and eventually die. I feed mine a mainly veggie diet.

I've heard alot about overcrowding cichlids to reduce aggression, is this the case? i currently have 8 along with and multi plunctatus sinidontis(sorry if the spellings off lol) but they are all really aggressive since we lost a few due to sickness or old age.. (we had 12) we have a 40 gallon would adding more make a difference in the aggression?
