The Mind's I is in my opinion the best album of DT, great melodies and a very sense of what is called a dark tranquillity, and playing in piano just make a very beautiful darkness please try some Haven songs, it would be great!

Musicians and composers like Mozart and such used scales in such ways that were new and innovative for their time, and metal uses the same scales in the same ways, with a little distortion and guitars.
