I agree with the poster here who cites the hardcore punk in their music. Alot of Nirvana's stuff before Nevermind did sound a lot like hardcore punk, though you could never call them simply that. Stuff after nevermind sounded hardcore too, like tourettes, stay away (if was shortened by about a minute), very ape.
I think Nirvana was getting their inspiration especially out of Punk and Hard Rock ( Black Sabbath etc. ) but Kurt was such a genius he maked a whole new genre famous for the rest of the world: Grunge. Even Kurt wanted to be punk, you can see he loves punk rock, he just adds his own style to his music.
i agree gorge harrison releseased a solo alnum that was ht ebeginning of grunge, very dark and distortion like none had eva heard of dont know the name of the album atm though sorry
you know people label nirvana as grunge, but really they are hardcore punk. If you listen to black flag, then you listen to most of nirvanas stuff, there really isnt much of a difference. Nirvana and Mudhoney both were hardcore punk when you think of it. If you listen to pearl jam, foo fighters, or nickleback you can tell the difference between them even though they are all 'grunge'
Well, mostly it's regular punk with a taste of pop. Even Cobain himself admitted it. A fine mixture, I must say. It fills the hole in the music industry. And that's why I like it so much :)
they have some elements of hardcore punk, but they are clearly not hardcore punk, hardcore punk is sick of it all and old agnostic front, and of course minor threat! nirvana is a mixture of punk rock, classic rock, and hard rock!
Oh :o :D I know that pub. I live in Heidelberg, Germany :-) I already knew they played there once, but it's way cooler too see a video of that show. Pretty cool

@unfortunatebeam erm, that was before nevermind man, nevermind was there last album
markbray69 1 year ago
@markbray69 Bleach first, Nevermind second, Incesticide third, In Utero last.

@WizzleThump
nah man nevermind is there last album in definatly. for one it has lithium in bloom and smells like ten spirit on it.
markbray69 1 year ago
@markbray69 I suggest you search google for the term "nirvana timeline".
I also invite anyone else who thinks Nevermind was their last album to!
You can go to as many as you want, they will all tell you the same thing.
Bleach, Nevermind, Incesticide, then In Utero.
WizzleThump 1 year ago
@WizzleThump shit man your right :S sorry about that lol hmmmmmm why did i always think nevermind was there last album? strange
markbray69 1 year ago
@WizzleThump
slightly inaccurate, if you include incesticide, you include all the boxsets and compolations, hit albums and all sorts,
studio wise its Bleach (1989) Nevermind (1991) In Utero (1993)
