This version is closer to the arcade than the American version cause Strider Hiryu makes vocal noises every time he swings his cypher(Sword)and at the end the "Master" says "All sons of old gods die"a statement that was taken out of the American version but was definitely in the Arcade version, aside from the Japanese text,Strider Hiryu's beefy textures and the missing Whale scene at the end when you finish the game(also left out in the American version)this version I guess comes the closest.
When I was in daycare when I was little, they had this game along with other awesome ass arcade games like altered beast and shinobi. Basically my daycare is the place that I became a gamer and it was all because of this game. I LOVE THIS FUCKING GAME!!
sick run.. i beat this game one time and i had to use the 99 life code where you put altered beast in first and then take it out at a certain point and load up strider, took me like 20 tries to get it right but HOT DAMN WAS IT WORTH IT.. otherwise i would always get stuck at the part in the last level where you have to jump across the platforms and avoid the spikes while upside down, you made it look so easy!! thanks for this, makes me want to play this game again so bad!!
Oh My God I forgot how much I used to play this, you are making me trip out. This was amazing game, its incredible how well it holds up. looks amazing! arrgh I wana play it!
I remeber this game. I had it to my Sega mega Drive 16 bit when I was a kid. Mostly I just played Sonic. My dad just came home with this Sega Mega Drive - I remember that timem, I was in kindergarden. Im 25 years old now and at Graduate School. This Strider game gives me back some fun memories.
how come this ending wasn't in the PlayStation version. I was expecting to see this ending when i finnish the game but when i didn't see it i was very disappointed.
@starsaber2345 This ending was exclusive to the Sega Genesis port. Remember, Sega themselves were who ported the coin-op to their console, not Capcom, so they took some liberties here and there (different sprite design for Strider and some enemies, superior ending).
wow......i would have never thought that so many people actually like this game as much as i do.....strider is my childhood... thanks for the upload bro
Always had trouble with the anti-gravity...music, graphics(items on screen) were way ahead of all the other games at the time. When I finally beat it I felt so proud...nice to see the end scene again. thanks.
You're right. This game was HARD. I never got to the end, but after watching this I realize I was one boss away from the end of the game. I had no patience to play this game. I wish it was out about 5 years sooner when I had great patience and just MAYBE I would have beaten this game. I just played it the other day after a close to a 15 year hiatus.....turned it off. I'm past my prime.
The first home translation (or port) of Strider that was arcade-quality, that was just about as good as the CPS1 arcade game, was the Sharp X68000 version.
X68000 ( X68k for short) was a Japanese high performance computer.
X68K Strider was MUCH better than the MegaDrive/Genesis Strider. It came out (in Japan) in the early 1990s, years before the PS1 port that came with Strider 2, and years before arcade emulation was around.
X68K Strider absolutely SHITS on the MD/Genesis version.
I am in awe. You made that look so bloody easy. I know otherwise, well done!

This game was so far ahead of times....the imagination and creativity hasnt been seen often in game design thus far

I like how the game has mechanical robots, but in the end the final boss is some dude that can use magic and summon beasts hahaha

I prefer PlayStation version than Genesis version. Genesis version too later as CPU process than arcade version.

@usabispingfan Thanks! Strider, in the Hard mode, is really very hard. I think the video shows some good hints for who wants to beat this game.

Always thought this game had the best end sequence on the Genesis.

I beat the arcade version. That last boss had me do like 5 continues because I always made stupid mistakes. Cool game.

I didn't have rapid fire, but I could push the button so fast it looked like the sword just stayed out at times.
Excellent game. Thanks for the vid. I'm going to have to find a rom of this.

3:07 "ALL SONS OF ALL GODS......DIE!"
SuperAdventures 2 years ago
That line is unfortunately cut in the US Genesis version.
Jac2Mac 2 years ago 2
Yep. I can understand why. Strider's yells when he swings his sword was also removed, on all U.S versions of Strider including the coin-op.

Hiryu glides in outer space on the Genesis than standing on a swimming whale on the Arcades... GREAT!

best music of any game, IMHO. It was so unique, and structured so well... good stuff.

The most difficult, for me, is the dragon around 2:30. I was never able to beat it without the long sword. You are very good, man!

Yeah, this probably was the best game ever. Thanks for bringing it all back.

For some reason these games seem more innovative than the games that are out now. I'm probably just old school (-_-)

That was impressive. I could get to the last stage, but was only able to beat it with the game genie.

this reminds me of back in the day when i was like 7 or 8, i'd sit and watch my brother play this and when i'd attempt to i'd lose! it's so hard!

This was just a shockingly hard game. In all my life I actually made it to the final boss less than a dozen times, and only finished it once.
