Its funny you said that because when I was putting the thing together I tried putting the chain on without the tensioner but it was either too lose or too tight. My bike frame was just an awkward size. I didn't even know about the tensioner and for a while it just sat in my basement as I tried to figure out what to do. Then I found it in the box so I just installed it.
Good Video. Just wanted to say, You can gain more speed by eliminating the drag from the chain idler!! You can get your chain tight enough to where you dont need that thing.. IF you mess up, easily get a new chain from wal mart. I've built 2 `,`
so I have a v-frame bike it's an older jeep mountain bike,
only thing is that it has a 'throttle' shifter on the right hand side (if your sitting on the bike) right where the new throttle would go.. so this would be a problem trying to put it on my bike... but can I put the throttle on the other side?
would be kinda weird and uncomfortable I'd imagine..
@ibfrdb um the throttle handle would fit on the left side but the kill swich would be on the outside and you'd have to twist the throttle handle forward instead of pulling it back. that would be extremely annoying. Also what do you mean by a 'throttle shifter' do you mean the gear shift? because if its the gear shift the throttle handle will fit with it it fits fine with the gear shift.
@brookse97 yes yes, 'gear shift' that's what I meant, sorry, thank you, so thats good news.. only thing now is I'm 50/50 on either gas or electric motor..
gas = expense, inconvient, loud
electric = takes time to recharge, not as powerful..
@ibfrdb i would highly reccomend the gas bike. the electric is very slow and the batteries only get about 15-20 miles on one charge. the gas bike is not very loud the video camera that i was using in the video was very sensitive. also the gas is mixed and the tank is only half a gallon but gets over 60 miles per tank, so gas isnt really expensive. i would highly reccommend the gas bike it is very convienent, reliable, and a lot cheaper than the electric
@ibfrdb You can move gripshift-type shifters inward to make more room for the throttle, or grab a thumb-type (for ATVs), or even re-purpose another brake lever. The fitting on the end is actually a standard bike brake cable ferrule.
just ordered one from gasbike. can't wait to get it installed!!
