Nice. I was there for that race. I was standing just about where you wre filming. It had rained that weekend and the track was dirty/muddy. When raceday came, it was sunny and the track dried out. When the cars took the green flag, clods of dirt flew into the air. I was in awe because not only were the Porsche 917-10's there for Donohue/Folmer, but there were the two McLaren Mk20's for Hulme/Revson and the Shadows. Epic race. I have lots of pics, but sadly no videos.
Actually, in 1972 The Shadow Team only used the 1200 HP turbo engine in the last race of the season. And then, Oliver used it only in practice. In this race the Shadow MK III would have run the 8.1 ltr. normally aspirated V8. Probably around 740 HP.
yeah, I was at this race... trans am races were at the heart of racing and american sprorts cars and road america as the longest track at 4 miles... I worked the corners at this track. and raced it, it such a special place for people who genuinely connect to this and know it. your song attribution so misses what this was all about. this was the beginning of nascar, this was the full muscle car. your song is stupid. you just don't get it.
