all said and done. Nachi's mediocrity and that of his beloved city - namely Kolkata - comes out both in the quality of this rendition and the comments in the string..
good to see somebody experimenting with Tagore songs...very well done composition although would have loved Srikanta Acharya,s voice instead of Nachiketa
I was shocked to see such a beautiful song being rendered in such a callous way ... while I do like some of Nachiketa's compositions, I have absolutely no regard for his voice ...
Guys, if you really wanna hear some good classical renditions of Rabindrasangeet try out the ones by Sounak Chattopadhyay ...
I think it's a wonderful idea. Using the voice Instead of playing an instrument in interlude and in prelude or obligators. And when the voice is of Ustad Rashid Khan, it's just wonderful. And like the main song sung by Nachiketa too. Kya baat hai! Thanks for uploading this. God belss ya.
i love the whole album, sp the way classical and the exact tagore tune has been mixed and i also love the western arrangement, they r enuf to attract young people liike us. the labanye purna pran song of it is so apt for waltz. i am sure, tagore, who was always in for experimentation would have loved to hear the way his songs r perceived in a new light
Neither Ustad Rashid Khan, nor Nachiketa are incapable singers/composers. Their composition and renditions are loved and heard by millions day to day including me. And I don't think this rendition of Rabindrasangeet has deviated too far from its original tunes. I don't always agree to what composers do, like I didn't like the way Pagla Hawa was sung in Bong Connection, but I do like this one.
Nachiketa would do better staying with Aadhunik gaan. This song on Teen taal sounds wonderful when Nachiketa's 'depomi' with his harsh tonal quality is taken out.. Is not this the guy who did 'ul lal la' and killed the 'paaglaa haawaar paagal diney"? The man has no sense as to what 'anushanga' music goes with which song.
Plz dont dare to criticise in such a mean and base manner.... and that too talking of Nachiketa. Promising artists like him do have the right to modify a song and give it a different perspective.. which is surely outstanding..
This is all about opinion. if you do not like others opinions that do not match yours do not post. You will see my opinions on different posts whether you like it or not.
I do not think Nachiketa is 'Rabindranather paayer nokher joggo' let alone having capability to recompose his songs. Musical hoodlums like him and his impotent cronies are ruining the Baanglaa music. A really outstanding 'dnepo'.
With due respect i really doubt ur sense of melody n music.. and above all regarding criticism, thee honorable, address ur so called 'dnepos' , face them and voice out to them ...
Do not misguide sensible listeners. Get well soon!!
LOL. Sensible listeners!! No sense in doubting or assessing my capabilities; what good would that do to you? I would not have to voice them out. These mushrooms will die off in due time. 'kaalajaee' Music, as always, will be embelished by capable people and not by these musical pollutants (I call them musical thugs). Hope you all get out of being this demented and learn some real Indian music from real exponents and not from 'Ul Lal la' stupidity...
You, who are proponents of 'sanskritir janjaal', can keep on braying the loudest but will never win in the test of time. KoaAmerican or KolBritiana ('Kolkaataar hnada' followers of US or British culture) has no place and will have no place in true Indian music. Idiots can keep on licking their feet; they love it.
To sankha82: Swaralipi is not 'gaan' but a guidance for it. It is the frame work for song in Swarabitaan. A powerful swaralipikaar tries to incorporate expressions and ornamentations in the swaralipi using 'kan swar' etc. But a singer has to make it into a song by understanding it and using proper expression that suits the song. How to apply the nuances of the song has to be learned from a teacher thus it is a gurumukhi bidyaa.
More to @sankha82: When an incapable composer tries to add missfit 'anushanga' music and changes the nature and taste of the song it becomes painful. Yes, I want to hear 'Baul gaan' with 'Baul' type 'Jantraanushanga' not Arabi and not KolBritiana. These people are so set on imitating (not assimilating) the US and Europe that it is nausiating. But the US and European mass do not give a darn. Bollywood gets a shot with its rhythmic dances but not KolAmericana.

the work could do better without Kolkata
