I just use some catfish fishing line in a clear color. Than I set it in the deep brush or woods wait a little while and I got somethin. Sorry but this was is very inafective the way I do it is tie a slipknot and connect the other end to som bush or sort of tree. Or a better way is to bend a tree branch tie one end to the tree and make a little notch in another tree opposite of it.than when the rabbit or squrill tries to run it titans and whips up snaping the animals neck. I would recomend putting some sticks on the sides of the snare, that way the animal can't go around by accident, I've caught raccons that way but using a tripwire snare though, it has a platform out of stick so when the animal steps on it it pushes the the stick free which let's the sapling fly up and noose the animal.

you can better set that trap at bunnyhole so as they run out they will be run right in the trap.

@worldwar470 could do but theyre more carefull just as theyre coming out, if they hear or see you putting it theyre they wont use the exit for ages and use another one. best to put it a few meters away, and if you see them theyre before you set the trap, wait for 10mins or so to observe were they go

Ok, Im not a master trapper but I can see some flaws here: if your hunting hare, the lose is to big, and its to small for a deer. These animals are very weary and if they smell human they may take another way, so use gloves and cover your smell with deer dropping or dirt. Use a finer string, wire or fish line. Its cooler to use a more hi-tech spring trap, and he is using random n00b knots, not cool, use a lariat loop for the snare and a clove hitch for the giant stick"

don't use ROPE. It's way heavy. You want as little resistance when it sinches as possible. Also, it tends to roll off the critters neck when it struggles. You want something that will "bite" into the neck. High test spider wire fishing line is by far the best I have found. Sold at any store with fishing gear. Relatively expensive but super light and for making snares the quantity is worth it.

these videos are generic forms of survival skills if you counted on this snare for food you would most likely go hungry...dont use ehow or expertvilliage videos to learn any survival/wilderness skills..for a real learning experience check out hobbexp or wildernessoutfitters channels these are the real deal

Now all you have to do is locate the "game" and chase it through the snare, ensuring it doesn't deviate.

Bear meat is delicious, for example. One way to get the "game" is to find a bear lair, toss a bear cub at the mother, and then run, leading the bear right through the snare! Boom!
