I made the mistake of watching this video before reading your summary, but I still enjoyed it immensely. Rinoa did have a relationship with Seifer before she met with Squall, and I believe she would have remained loyal to Seifer if she hadn't thought he died, only to discover him working for Galbadia. When our loved ones die, we have to keep living, and she did that, slowly falling in love with Squall. It's a hard situation, and either way, I enjoyed your take on it. A little different but good.
