The Governor of Mississippi said that the media is making the leak look worse than what it is and that stopping the drilling in the gulf will damage the USA economy and the region. The waters of the Mississippi river are what is keeping it at bay.

Damn it just drop same heavy ass cap/dome over the leak. Drill another well port as soon as possible to release the pressure and then funnel that oil into a tanker. Send some sub down to the surface and manually close the well if a shut off valve.
lets lower a gigantic iron two story grid over the leak area , screw it to the ocean floor and secure caps or tubes to each square shaft as needed eventually closing off the leak, keeping it flowing and equalizing the pressure of the entire grid, these grid or "quadulators" could be used on any ocean floor leak , cut the pipe off level to the ocean floor so the grid can be lowered on top and capped off one square shaft at a time, caps or tubes bolted on one square at a time..it'll work!

THis is an ecological disaster of epic proporations which the media is downplaying. The fish and vegetation is now tainted on the gulf coast all the way to the southern atlantic by florida. This will be impossible to clean and will likely all disolve 100 years from now therefore anybody who plans on eating the fish from that region in the near future shouldnt be surprised if they suddenly get diagnosed with cancer.

The only reason this leak has not been ended is because BP hopes to save the well and its oil. If Heyward and BP wanted to end this tragic episode of eco terrorism they could simply drop a few million tons of wet cement on the well or detonate a small explosion on it and seal it forever, instead they drill two more wells so that they can more easily harvest their product. The Governor of Mississippi said that the media is making the leak look worse than what it is and that stopping the drilling in the gulf will damage the USA economy and the region. I'm not going to call him stupid but selfish. Does he know that the waters of the Caribbean sea are not just a pond in Jackson but that it touches many other countries and that the oil will not just disappear. The waters of the Mississippi river are what is keeping it at bay.

I depend on the government when I use the federal highway system, walk into a public library, call the police, receive the benefits of most public university R&D, etc etc etc. But I am a private sector employee (which of course benefits from federal clients). I pay my taxes without whining like a bitch. I also realize that certain externalities, like cumbersome safety inspections, are AVOIDED by BIG OIL. And without government oversight they do not take place. Now enjoy your happy meal.

There is a DIRECT correlation between the likelihood of deregulated oil industry creating oil spill catastrophies like this one and the amount of oil we consume. Lower consumption and we lower the risk of catastrophy. We can lower consumption by pricing gas to account for its LONG TERM devastation of our planet.

Damn it just drop same heavy ass cap/dome over the leak. Drill another well port as soon as possible to release the pressure and then funnel that oil into a tanker. Send some sub down to the surface and manually close the well if a shut off valve.

lets lower a gigantic iron two story grid over the leak area , screw it to the ocean floor and secure caps or tubes to each square shaft as needed eventually closing off the leak, keeping it flowing and equalizing the pressure of the entire grid, these grid or "quadulators" could be used on any ocean floor leak , cut the pipe off level to the ocean floor so the grid can be lowered on top and capped off one square shaft at a time, caps or tubes bolted on one square at a time..it'll work!

THis is an ecological disaster of epic proporations which the media is downplaying. The fish and vegetation is now tainted on the gulf coast all the way to the southern atlantic by florida. This will be impossible to clean and will likely all disolve 100 years from now therefore anybody who plans on eating the fish from that region in the near future shouldnt be surprised if they suddenly get diagnosed with cancer.
