Great episode, I think you play way better than I do! I loved this game when I was smaller. So much so that when I started making youtube vidoes, it was one of the first ones I tried, I got killed before I got through level 3. Now i'm doing a new series similar to this one where i'm trying to get through the whole thing. This game was a big part of my childhood, to the point that it had a bit too much influence on me.

Gah, I SOOOO remember this game...Each stage was a torture. Every side scrolling part was like a boss fight. I'm amazed rewatching this and seeing just how FAST those stages were, I remember each step felt like I was doing something successful. Only made it past the Dam twice...

Next to this game, I also grew up with Mario 1, 2 and 3.

I love this game. I don't know why people hate it but I live it. I don't like these new games that are coming out. they lost their hardness to them. Final Fantasy is not even an RPG game anymore. yeah there's still some reading to it but most of the time you're not even reading anymore. now zelda. no matter how much the graphic has change. it's still a RPG game and it still rocks.

I am so sick of people saying it is "based on the comics". IT'S NOT BASED ON THE COMICS! Just the cover art is from the comics (all red masks). On the menu screen, cut scenes and even during game play the turles are wearing their traditional cartoon colors and BEBOP,ROCKSTEADY, MECHATURTLE, and the TECHNODROME were never in the Mirage Comics, only the cartoon and archie comics (which are the same material).

The weird enemy selection is just that... weird.

I don't get why people consider this a hard or bad game. It's actually pretty good for it's time. Yeah, hit detection sucks and it gets hard right around the last level, but you can overcome both of these with better timing and practice. I am just a casual gamer and I can beat it without losing a turtle 9 times out of 10.

This game was a bitch, but it wasn't Ghouls 'N Ghosts-type hard. Many memories of this game, and Nintendo and the Turtles in general. It may be over 20 years-old, but 8-bit will never die if the fans keep it alive. Long live classic/old-school/retro gaming.

I always was confused about this games box art. What I mean is that all their masks are colored red. I thought that was a mistake by Ultra Games but just recently I found out that in the original comics all turtles had red masks. Which confuses me even more because what background story this game is suppose to have? Box art is based on comics, Turtles are colored like in the cartoon, but enemies are a mixed bag. Sheredder, Slash, Rocksteady are here as boss character.

Another thing I disliked is that the invincibility item is never where you need it. In Stage 1, it's in an optional sewer, and you can't take it and use it somewhere else.

My biggest complaint about this game was item placement and level design. In Stage 1, there are six sidescrolling levels, but you only really had to go through three of them (though the first sewer is a good place for beginning players to get familiar with the controls). Going into the building to get the pizza is a waste of time because in the sewer before the final building there is a pizza at the entrance, and you can go in and out until all your turtles are at full health.
