What is everyones obsession with yank-hating...The old NY Cosmos use to tour the world and beat some of the best teams in the world... That's a fact. Period. Lazio, Santos, Athletico Madrid, AEK, Independiente, Argentinos Jrs, Roma, Napoli, and Fiorentina all fell to the Cosmos thru the late 70s and early 80s.

hey guys, Im from NYC and there has been some news breaking about the NY Mets owners. Apparently the Bernie Madoff scandal hit them so bad that they are selling 25-3% of the team. I guess you can count them out as a source of cash infusion/ stadium funding!

sure the cosmos wouldnt be as glitzy and glamorous, but if ny cosmos joined mls, they would automatically have the best kits(the white ones), and be the most famous well known team day 1..... it makes since on alot of levels ......but the fact that Garber has been so open to adding 4 NASL to MLS teams, it would unrealistic to not add the most famous of them all the NY Cosmos

Derek. Stop being a Cosmos apologist. I saw them as well when I was a kid and if or when that name comes back, the talent on the field will not equal to the history back in the original NASL.

This is my first in person response here, since you called me out.... I think I explained how I think the rules might change in MLS to make a second-coming of the NY Cosmos possible down the road. We have to think of the future. But I will say this: there are lots of behind the scene things going on in the Cosmos bid to join MLS that we'll be revealing as they happen. Let's just say its not set in stone, and its a huge roll of the die...
