  • my surgeon said if you smoke we cant do the rotater cuff surgery cause it will not heal if you smoke!

  • Give up smoking. That will help.

  • 4:10..I had to cough..I don't know why...as he lights his Marlboro.....funny!!!

  • Great explanation. I'm having simple rotator cuff repair surgery in a month, so I'm looking for advice so I can be as prepared as possible. The tip about elastic-waisted pants is a good one, especially since it's my dominant side they're operating on. How long did you have to wear the sling?

  • 4:27 Medicate my dumbass????

  • Sir I have nagging shoulder problem too. Nice to hear your experience. But do try to smoke smoking. A friend of mine just died of lung cancer about 4 months ago. We close friends followed his case from the day the lungs collapse to the day he died. Not to scare you or anything but COPDs are a big bane.

  • 'i coughed and i dont know why' *takes puff from cigarette* maybe thats why

  • Having rotator cuff surgery in less than two weeks......I am too cute for this.....aaaargh! Thanks for the video. :D

  • I am having rotator cuff surgery this coming Thursday i am 23 years old a softball windmill pitcher lets hope i am OK afterwards kinda nervous.

  • Jim, While your explanation of the surgery is decent, your vocabulary, profane language and chain smoking is an indication that you do not take care of yourself physically, mentally or emotionally. Good luck getting back to work and on your recovery.... Stop smoking, and stop cussing like a sailor while you explain things. It makes you sound ignorant.

  • well, its been a year for you, are you 100% now or where are you in your recovery?

  • thanks for this,it will help me cause im going to the same surgery next week,

  • Hi: Hope you are well or at least getting better. Give us an update. Thanks

  • thank you, very informative for the 'after'. Not knowing when you posted this, my problem, I hope you are well and good to go now. I know why you coughed! :)

  • yeah, i worked for this piece of shit company tyson foods, anyways, they had me do all this overhead throwing with one arm, couldn't use the other cause my wrist was broken from fallin on their floor. anywas, shoulder is in major pain, couldn't do my regular job, so they find a reason to fire me, got me a lawyer, and finally after 8 months going for an MRI.

  • Had my surgery on 4/23/09. Torn Labrum into the biceps tendon. Have been back to work since then and done fine. I feel much better although I have had to find permanent new ways to sleep, best of lucvk to ya. I did start with PT then MRI with contrast fluid, it was the only thing that identified the laburm tear

  • Tnks for vid. How soon after surgery did you start with your PT, how many days per week? How can you get your operated arm into a sleeve of a shirt post op? Do you have some movement of arm to do this? My surgery is next week. Are you now lifting things that you couldn't before the surgery? Are you suppose to move your arm out or up just a little everyday right from the day after surgery? My doc hasn't said much what to expect. Looking on Youtube for answers. Do an update for us. Thanks

  • Hi .this is good vid...I just did my this morning. so far so good , may be medicaotion still in my body so i didn.t feel pain yet , let see tonight when i go to sleep.

  • can i ask what did you do to injure your shoulder so bad that the rotator cuff tore ?

  • i just got mine done yesterday afternoon, its hard for to sleep because of the pain at the incision area or whatever its called and my elbow to is hurting to but before the surgery i wasnt in any kind of pain except when i dislocated it, i have to stay in a sling for 3-6 weeks and then 3-6 months of physical therapy. i typed this with my left hand :)

  • I have sholder pain my dr said i tore something in my sholder so i had a cortosine shot and it didnt work. i have also gone to physical therpy for a while and i have a feeling the next step is surgery wish me luck i have an apt with my docotr september 23 09

  • I'm getting it done tues, the 25th of aug. 09. hope it works. thanks for the video info, it was excellent.

  • Good video, told me alot, I am slated to have it done within the next few weeks, at 41, this is going to be the 1st time I have EVER had any type of opp done, they say its not a big deal, but the rehab I bet is going to be a pain! Got it of all things by a shelf falling on my head, how about that :-(

  • smoking with an semi-open incision,

    enjoy painful recovery.....

    hope everything else heals great...

    good luck !

  • stop smoking, this will increase your rehab, healing and scaring.

smoking will only hurt your rehab. & recovery.

    this is a no-brainer

  • all is well so far, about 10 weeks since surgery and I'm getting better every week. The incisions are only about 1/2 inch and seem to be healing nicely and fading. Good luck and do what they tell you, physical therapy is crucial.

  • hello, i will have arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder also within this month but i like toi know if the incision scarring will disappear you said its have an inch of inscion i hope all is well.

  • Thanks, good experience, I had mine done, so far so good.
