I saw Miss Saigon over 20 yrs ago on Broadway. I forgot about it for years until I came across the CD recently. The songs are still moving. After seeing many versions on video and from what I can remember of the Broadway show,Lea and Simon make the absolute best Chris and Kim. Their voices are magic together and their chemistry can't be beat.I don't think Lea was able to recreate the same chemistry with her other Chris's. I only wish I could have seen both live on the West End back in 1989!

I have seen many versions of Miss Saigon, and the best is still Lea and Simon. They have a romance in them that is really beautiful to watch. Simon is just sexy. Lea's voice, really hard to match! Wish I saw them in the actual play myself. Repeat performance soon?
I hate to say this and I'll probably get negathumbed, but I liked Lea Salonga's voice so much better when she was younger! In this and Aladdin. I listened to her Fantine performance and it can't even compare to how good her voice is here.

god... they're good. I have seen many versions of Miss Saigon, and the best is still Lea and Simon. They have a romance in them that is really beautiful to watch. Simon is just sexy. Lea's voice, really hard to match! Wish I saw them in the actual play myself. Repeat performance soon?

I hate to say this and I'll probably get negathumbed, but I liked Lea Salonga's voice so much better when she was younger! In this and Aladdin. I listened to her Fantine performance and it can't even compare to how good her voice is here.

If an opera singer made a pop song i think it would be shit. Most musical stars have a distinct style voice that dont suit others genres just like Ke$ha. Sorry for the long comment but im right.

@neovxr The two writers, Boublil and Schoenberg, are French. U r partially correct about it being Americanized. They based it on Puccini's Madama Butterfly who composed the opera based on a 3 act play he saw in London & the play was based on a short story written by American John L. Long. And the rest , as they say, is history. BTW, it would be difficult not to Americanized the play since all the soldiers in the play are supposed to be Americans. Except 4 d VNamese soldiers.

but this is a piece of art, and impossible or spoiled love stories have always been a major topic for block busters and bestseller books.

@mrdewdrop88 The truth is the government lied about almost everything. From Johnson to McNamara to Nixon to Kissinger to Westmoreland. We had no business being there. I spent 13 months from 1967 to 1968 in the central highlands and we knew the govt were lying about what's going on, painting rosy pictures about the condition there. I hate to say this but we were not the good guys in this war. We screwed up not only the country, but the people, who btw were nice, the ones not shooting at you.

Media just tell whatever stories they want to communicate, we just hear, then... ignore because those things we hear everyday and its now unworthy of any more concern :)) But I guess the point here is that we should leave the past behind, and head to the future of corporation :)

B. because she may suck but she's smart enough to know her vocal limitations and not blow her cover and C. because she's not asian Sarah Brightman wouldn't make it past the first round of auditions for Porgie and Bess.
