I'm so glad I touched Quake era. If you had just learned how to bunnyhop and shoot people with rail and rockets, any modern game looks like noob kindergarden. All those "ah so 1337" dragshot sniper movies look so lame and slow and you know you can do better. Hell, you can do that shit with ballistic projectiles, like 40mm and knives (in mw)! Quake is the best gaming school.

- Coldcut - Timber (DK Recut) I don't know why it's marked as DJ Kentaro, (probably DK but it's Darren Knott).

- Pest - Heard Yer Bird Moved In (this one is the version mixed by Kentaro)

You don't program the movements, you do everything by hand and mastery over time (it takes years). I can't explain the physics in this one post, and honestly I don't (completely) comprehend everything about it, there are entire essays devoted to that on the internet. But the strafe jumping in Quake is just... Ridiculous. Yes, people still do it, including me.

@joyfulvulture I agree and disagree with you. Yes, while for the most part normal Q3 does require you to dodge targets, there are maps in DeFrag which test your ability in this area. I remember one that forced you to dodge rockets. Easy at first, but your platform would get closer and closer and soon you'd be knocked off. At the end of the day, It's Quake3 either way you look at it. DeFrag is brilliant for pushing your movement and accuracy skills at high speed, making you tougher to beat.

Go look up Event -O- Horizon's team trickjump vids, where they have to hit several mid-air rockets (sometimes over a dozen) in a row to basically bounce someone from one end of the map to another. Mid-air rocks are one of the most difficult and most useful skills one can ever learn in Q3.

Keep in mind movement speed and efficiency is crucial, especially in a duel where you need to run around the map controlling armors.

Short for Challenge Pro Mode, its an alternative to vq3 (vanilla quake 3, or what youd find in the regular game) that modifies the physics and game play a little for competitive tourney play. (no weapon switch animation, different movement etc.) A distinction is made in defrag because the changes affect runs pretty drastically.
