I heard the themes song was sung in 1966 the original run's didn't have a theme song it was done for the benifit of syndication.

When Aunt Polly sent Tom Sawyer out to white wash the fence he tricked some other little boys into thinking that it was so much fun that they paid him to whitewash the fence.
