I think they sound good here, nowadays...no. Another question to anyone who sees this video. If a band (or more specifically, the singer) gets worse and starts giving an average to mediocore performance (even in studio), can you honestly, even as a hardcore fan still call them "good"? @JBRonin You mean "why did I listen to all four albums?" Vulgar is good, they can be proud of that one, the other three, not so much. Whithering To Death. had about three interesting songs and the rest of the album sounded like the openings to various animes. Kisou was boring and I lost interest about half way through (they're not the first band to do that to me), and Uroboros sounded like the same two songs playing on repeat. And Yes, Uroborus sounds pretty crappy.

@JBRonin From all the music I've heard, Vulgar was the best they've done, and if he really plans on singing the way he's been singing lately from now on, then I've no interest in him as a vocalist, because his current singing style is extremely underwhelming. In Vulgar he USES the vocal range that everyones so proud of but in the other albums I heard he seems like he barely even tries.

The Saw soundtrack is your best defense?Well since we're making unrelevant points: There's a metal/hard rock magazine called "Hit Parader", they do tons of "best of" lists, they are know of Diru, they've even done stories on them. Diru's never been on any of their lists. Korn's been on lists. In fact Davis was voted #16 of the "100 greatest vocalists in hard rock/metal". Kyo didn't make the cut

Why are you arguing with me again? And you obviously don't listen to much Diru either. Kyo doesn't have much, if any range as of the past 3 or 4 years. his singing voice, singing at a higher pitch, crooning, and cookie monster death vocals... And Davis can do all of that, too. And in my opinion he's better than Kyo at it. I'd rather a good vocalist with limited range over an okay vocalist with a wide range.

@494828755 So I don't have to admit that Kyo is better, because he's really not. There's nothing about Diru that makes them better than any other band, including Korn. And Mike Patton was brought up mainly due to the senseless gushing over Kyo's vocals. Patton is pretty much the vocalist Diru fans like to think Kyo is, IMO. Let's end this on something different that has absolutely nothing to do with this argument... Favorite Diru song?

@494828755 IMO, Kyo sounds like shit live. His screams suck and he doesn't have nearly as much range live. Jonathan Davis sounds just as good live as he does on the albums whereas Kyo either can't do it anymore or just settles for a lesser quality of vocals (after listening to Uroborus, I'd assume the latter). And KoRn does perform well live. Most fans of this band just seem to try to hard to put them on a pedistal, above bands that are just as good and just as deserving of the appraisal (sp?).

@494828755 Yeah, I think Uroboros sucks, if you read all of my response, you'll notice that I don't like all the stuff they do. I think their softer less rockish stuff is crap. And again, there are many bands that are far better than Dir En Grey. They're so busy trying to be different that half of their stuff is pretty forgetable and unremarkable...and fans like you don't really help. That's not to say you're the worst. Duuring Vulgar (and Whithering To Death.) they ripped off of Marilyn Manson's image, I think there's a video somewhere around here where they look to be ripping off David Bowie's image also. The last time I saw them at a photo-shoot in some magazine they looked to be ripping of Green Day, Linknin Park, etc. And their music just isn't that impressive sometimes, Obscure was good, but

The band can't stay to one sound because they can't seem to mix that one sound up very well, Uroborus sounded, to me, like the same song over and over again. And like I said, the vocals for that album were complete crap. But that's how he sings EVERYTHING now, even if that's now how he should, and it's no good.
