They should make a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game! But it would be all balanced out, MK would use fatalities & SF would use Brutalities, N the evil ones would use fatalitities as well. But it wouldn't be toned down like they did with mk vs dc, It would be more gruesome..Im pretty sure they'll work something out...Also they should put the option to pick what kind of controls you want to play as, either the MK controls or the SF controls. Mortal Kombat was way better than any fighting game... All the players has unique fighting styles and moves that gave them all an advantage in their own way. Depending on who you used, you formed your own strategy and fighting style with that character. If you play Street Fighter, it's just random button pushing and all of the characters are the same when you do that. I don't see the difference between Chun Li and Ryu. The only unique fighter in that game is the stretchy dude.

The fact that the Mortal Kombat fighters are all murderers has nothing to do with their fighting abilities. They have to win before they can execute their fatalities and the strongest Mortal Kombat character (excluding Shang Tsung) would probably have a hard time with Dan Hibiki. Guilty Gear on the other hand would have a WAY better chance against Street Fighter to say the least...
@Rodgerinho Can't speak for the new Mortal Kombat because I haven't played it. That comment was written before it came out. In that context, the comment still stands. Virtually all the MK games were sub par, and the only reason the franchise ever did well was because the characters were murderers. Until part 3 everybody had the exact same fighting style and the games were anything but fluid. Mortal Kombat probably would beat Tekken, but only because they have magic. Tekken has far more skill.
@Rodgerinho Bottom line; take away the gimmicks (blood, fatalities, maniacs that randomly scream TOASTY at you), and all you're left with is a sub par game that would otherwise never of made it to a sequel. Pit Fighter had more individuality in their fighters. MK certainly isn't "the equal" to Street Fighter which is arguably the single most important franchise in the history of fighting games.
@Rodgerinho Sonic booms and hadokens are directly related to gameplay. No different nationalities in and of itself isn't racism. The character designs are meant to be over the top. The fact that Mortal Kombat had the same fighting style for every character is what means it had the same fighting style for every character. Slight differences in athleticism doesn't make a fighting style different. The finishing moves of Mortal Kombat have nothing to do with gameplay. They're just gimmicks.
@Rodgerinho Energy projection takes place during the actual match. MK "fatalities" aka murders happen after the fights been won. Therefore, MK murders aren't a true part of the "play" in gameplay. The "Instant Kill" moves of Guilty Gear on the other hand can actually be accessed during the round so they actually do factor into the gameplay. The MK characters had different special moves, but their martial arts styles were identical and the animation paled in comparison to most fighters.
@Rodgerinho If Street Fighter can be called racist, than Mortal Kombat can be called mysogynistic. I don't know about dumber in all areas, but yes, it is my opinion a large group of people were indeed won over too easily by cheap gimmicks. Just because they can't see what I can doesn't make me wrong. It makes you come across as intolerant and unable to look at things analytically. If SVR is realistic because of a general lack of fire balls, than so is Tekken, Soul Caliber and DOA.
@Rodgerinho Without their magic, Tekken would destroy MK but that's not saying much because MK isn't all that. MK fatalities can only be executed on dummies who spend their last ounce of strength standing there and waiting for it so as long as Tekken and SF characters continue fighting until they're KO'ed, fatalities wouldn't be a factor. The only thing MK had going for it was T & A and even that was overdone. Say what you will about DOA, but at least their women have athletic support.
@Rodgerinho MK2 still had the exact same fighting style for all the characters. "Fatalities" have nothing to do with gameplay and neither do "friendships" or secrets. MK has never been fluid, and DOA and Tekken is by definition less gimmicky. With those games, it was about the gameplay, not gimmicks like turning into a giant and murdering your opponnent after the fight is already over. At least in Samurai Shodown the fatalities actually had something to do with the actual gameplay.
@Rodgerinho Ad populum is a fallicy. Mortal Kombat having a strong fan base only shows that the average fan was easily impressed by cheap gimmicks. I can virtually promise you that if you took away the blood, stop motion photography and fatality gimmicks, MK would of dissapeared into obscurity. I've never heard any one call DOA slow and Tekkens combos are far more realistic and martial arts based than MK but that only makes sense because that's the type of game it is.
@Rodgerinho If Street Fighter lost it's music, it'd still have better gameplay than MK (but that's not saying much). Smackdown vs Raw maybe an okay representation of coreographed American professional wrestling matches, but American professional wrestling matches are typically hideous representations of actual fights by sober people, therfore SVR is totally not realistic and doesn't belong in the same catagory as UFC or MMA Supremacy.

@Rodgerinho If it were a true simulation, the focus would be on coreagraphy and executing moves at the right time (like Pa Rappa the Rapper), not on an actual battle. Cammy's leotard doesn't have a cammel toe and is actually fairly practical (if a little skimpy) for one on one combat, plus Cammy is in the minority. The typical MK outfits on females are totally impractical and in the majority.

Because it doesn't seem to get in the way of women actually wearing leotards for exercise, pro-wrestling, gymnastics, ballet, track & field, etc. plus, you are only assuming it's spandex. Tight fitting gear is standard for most grapplers. Chun Li's regular gear (leotard, leggings and modified qipao) is just fine for one on one combat. The extra outfit in SF4 on the other hand... well all I can say is, I would of preferred the alpha out fit as a secondary.
@Rodgerinho Watch a triathalon, pro-wrestling, competition wrestling from the 80's, gymnastics, track & field or go to the beach and look for a female lifeguard. Granted, these examples are usually not thongs, but leotards exist just the same. Incedentally, there's nothing about a thong that actually decreases athletic performance. That's all in your head. Of course ChunLi's outfit is leggy. What's she supposed to fight in, a regular qipao or a tunic like the muslim women wear?

How about you actually go and watch gymnastics, life guards, triathalons, track & field, ballet, figure skating, women's Mexican/Japanese/ indies professional wrestling, wrestling as a whole from the 80's-90's, figure skating, ball room dancing, beach volley, 90's in door volleyball ball, cheer leading etc. and then scientifically explain to how leotards or briefs of any kind (including thongs) actually subtracts from athletic capability.
@Rodgerinho Virtually all the MK females from the 3D era are wearing outfits that nobody can justify out side of a fetish party with the exception of Sonya Blade. No athletic support to "contain" themselves. The new one is no different. A leotard (albeit a thong one) and combat boots is one thing, a sling shot is another. WWE is not a real world situation. If WWE can be considered a simulation because it's performed by people, so can Garouden Breakblow because it has a live action movie.

@Rodgerinho If anything, Chun Li's modified qipao and alpha outfits are actually conservative compared to what most real life female MMA fighters wear. I don't see you complaining about Zangief, El Fuerte or Vega AKA Balrog. Sagat and Dhalsim are half naked. The bottom line is that there's a winner and a loser planned out ahead of time. If this wasn't the case, people would rarely spontaneously take dangerous or humilliating moves like the Kudome Valentine or the stinkface.

Mortal Kombat was way better than any fighting game... All the players has unique fighting styles and moves that gave them all an advantage in their own way. Depending on who you used, you formed your own strategy and fighting style with that character. If you play Street Fighter, it's just random button pushing and all of the characters are the same when you do that. I don't see the difference between Chun Li and Ryu. The only unique fighter in that game is the stretchy dude.

The fact that the Mortal Kombat fighters are all murderers has nothing to do with their fighting abilities. They have to win before they can execute their fatalities and the strongest Mortal Kombat character (excluding Shang Tsung) would probably have a hard time with Dan Hibiki. Guilty Gear on the other hand would have a WAY better chance against Street Fighter to say the least...

@Rodgerinho Can't speak for the new Mortal Kombat because I haven't played it. That comment was written before it came out. In that context, the comment still stands. Virtually all the MK games were sub par, and the only reason the franchise ever did well was because the characters were murderers. Until part 3 everybody had the exact same fighting style and the games were anything but fluid. Mortal Kombat probably would beat Tekken, but only because they have magic. Tekken has far more skill.

Pit Fighter had more individuality in their fighters. MK certainly isn't "the equal" to Street Fighter which is arguably the single most important franchise in the history of fighting games.

@Rodgerinho Sonic booms and hadokens are directly related to gameplay. No different nationalities in and of itself isn't racism. The character designs are meant to be over the top. The fact that Mortal Kombat had the same fighting style for every character is what means it had the same fighting style for every character. Slight differences in athleticism doesn't make a fighting style different. The finishing moves of Mortal Kombat have nothing to do with gameplay. They're just gimmicks.

@Rodgerinho Energy projection takes place during the actual match. MK "fatalities" aka murders happen after the fights been won. Therefore, MK murders aren't a true part of the "play" in gameplay. The "Instant Kill" moves of Guilty Gear on the other hand can actually be accessed during the round so they actually do factor into the gameplay. The MK characters had different special moves, but their martial arts styles were identical and the animation paled in comparison to most fighters.

MK fatalities can only be executed on dummies who spend their last ounce of strength standing there and waiting for it so as long as Tekken and SF characters continue fighting until they're KO'ed, fatalities wouldn't be a factor. The only thing MK had going for it was T & A and even that was overdone. Say what you will about DOA, but at least their women have athletic support.

MK has never been fluid, and DOA and Tekken is by definition less gimmicky. With those games, it was about the gameplay, not gimmicks like turning into a giant and murdering your opponnent after the fight is already over. At least in Samurai Shodown the fatalities actually had something to do with the actual gameplay.

I can virtually promise you that if you took away the blood, stop motion photography and fatality gimmicks, MK would of dissapeared into obscurity. Smackdown vs Raw maybe an okay representation of coreographed American professional wrestling matches, but American professional wrestling matches are typically hideous representations of actual fights by sober people, therfore SVR is totally not realistic and doesn't belong in the same catagory as UFC or MMA Supremacy.

@Rodgerinho If it were a true simulation, the focus would be on coreagraphy and executing moves at the right time (like Pa Rappa the Rapper), not on an actual battle. Cammy's leotard doesn't have a cammel toe and is actually fairly practical (if a little skimpy) for one on one combat, plus Cammy is in the minority. The typical MK outfits on females are totally impractical and in the majority.

Because it doesn't seem to get in the way of women actually wearing leotards for exercise, pro-wrestling, gymnastics, ballet, track & field, etc. plus, you are only assuming it's spandex. Tight fitting gear is standard for most grapplers. Chun Li's regular gear (leotard, leggings and modified qipao) is just fine for one on one combat. The extra outfit in SF4 on the other hand... well all I can say is, I would of preferred the alpha out fit as a secondary.
