  • takes me back too, still know some/most of the words, and I always had a crush on theresa Bazar

  • Big hair...love it!

  • Big hair...lov it!

  • this takes me back to the school discos of my youth. oh the innocence of those times. now I am an old git.

  • VERY NICE

  • @kenbooby have you not heard it they have re-sung these songs as they are now (age) and the background music isnt the same when it starts

  • @antina5908 The verisions you speak of were re-recored some years later by D.V.D and some random woman, those are the version that are on iTunes up until recently when the actual albums and orginal recordings went digital.

  • Yeah school discos..remember them?

  • I luv this video brings back loads of great memories

  • i hafve downloaded this song endless times now each time its never this version but the one they sung as they are now, the begining is different. does anyone know where to download this version?

  • @antina5908 What do you mean?

  • i remember this song very well i was 7 years old when this song came dollar were very big in my class at school i miss the 1980s so much i now have this song on my i pod now great memories.

  • Pity David V D turned out to be such a twat-so many people that know him have no time for him at all!

  • I have probably the weirdest reason of all for watching this video. I can remember them being interviewed on Swap Shop about it and one of them said they'd cut themselves on the sugar glass in the shop window. I watched this in order to see if sugar glass breaks differently to normal because i know it's sugar in this!

  • Hey, i met David Van Day and his wife Sue Moxley...

Check out an interview i did with Sue on my page...just uploaded it! :-)

  • I am guessing Trevor Horn plays bass on this

  • A guilty pleasure....simply because of Trevor Horn's production...brilliant

  • The thing I love most about the 80's music is that they didn't have to sell sex in their music or videos just to sell records or flash their bodies. Unlike people nowadays, who do not even know the definition of great music or how to sell their music without using their image. I.E. Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga(who I do love btw), Katy Perry and loads more.

  • @chewinthephat You say that but I remember clearly at the time when I was 14 and Dollar were on TOTP, most of my mates at school were discussing Dollar because as desperate teenagers all we wanted to do is knob the blond bird singing as none of us had ever seen anything so saucy

  • @wreaksrevenge At 14 boys are discussing stuff like that? You serious?

  • @kenbooby Yep, serious..

  • I wasn't born until 1987, but my entire life I have listened to 80's music and watched the videos. Dollar was and always have been my favourite 80's duo. I just wish I was a teenager in the 80's, so that I had the memories and experience of the entire decade! :(

  • @chewinthephat

Yep being a kid / teenager in the 80's was fab!! I've even kept some of my clothes - belts and stuff - still wear them. It was such a fun, colourful era....and the music was poptastic! Very happy memories....

  • @LadyP528

the girls werent hot, but they were very pretty ..

  • i swear david van day shouldnt look that much like ray liotta.....

  • @XhoowieX hahahaha LOL you are so right!

  • fabulous production job by Trevor Horn

  • DVD should make BILLIONS out of copyright from his name. . . . .

  • My fav track from the 80's...I feel old now !! * grins * :D

  • Hair lacquer rules OK!!!!!

  • I think I'm supposed to hate this song - but I've replayed it three times.

  • Dollar, the babe of the 70's or was it 80's.

  • Thereze was such a honey.

  • Holy sh... I fell in love with Thereza when I was 15.

30 years later, nothing has changed. I need help...; )

  • During bad times..I always come back to Dollar..thanks SO much for posting.X

  • This song is great, but the video is a 'So bad it's good' moment.

  • If this was a video now-a-days, you know how controversial people would take this

  • @Cimozzen

    Is this video controversial today?

  • No, I'm just sayin people would have a weird reaction to this

  • god bless th 80s

  • Just as an aside, while making music like this poor Trev had to contend with getting booed off stage. It was during the time He and Geoff Downes (his partner in Buggles) were filling the void left by Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman in Yes. Live audiences unaware of the personell change didn't take too kindly to them. Of course a couple of years later and Trevor was back producing 90125...nuff said.

  • Today is Thur Dec10 2009, and I know for a fact that this song was on TOTP this night in 1981 exactly 28 years ago. This is more than a trivial slice of bubblegum pop, this still sounds fantastic . It sounds innovative and symphonic as is The Dollar Album it came from. No doubt this may have something to do with Trevor Horn's name on the cover.

  • Timeless production from Mr Trevor Horn, this never gets old. A sublime slice of pop.

  • How bouncy and fun!!!! I miss the 80's. I loved Europop.

  • @kennyt1230 They were from Canada.

  • @1rhpsfan No they weren't - they're Brits. He ended up with a take-away kiosk on Brighton Beach and she went off to Oz before a brief reunion about 10 years ago.

  • @bkse2309 Actualy we're both right.

One is from England, The other from Canada.

  • two questions..

    does anyone have this mp3?

and does anyone remember when minipops did this?

  • I think I Tunes and Napster both have this song but it's weird because the song's shorter than the one on this video and it sounds different as in it seems softer than on the tone of the song in this vid.

  • I noticed that too. I'm sure I heard somewhere that the backing was redone. It doesn't sound as well produced!

  • no!

    but it sounds hilarious. haha

  • bring back the 80's !

  • classic 80's pop and shes lush! beware when downloadin their greatest hits album as on mopst sites its a remasterded album with none of original band members signing on it! for this song go to i tunes search for "smash hit 1981" and down load original song from there

  • my auntie did a duet with this guy

  • Comment removed

  • thereze and cheryl baker from bucks fizz, dont know which one i fancied the most, probably still do

  • I remember when they made this video the window was made of sugar glass and as Thereza jumped through she cut her leg quite badly

  • a great song from the 80s .60s 70s 80s and 90s music is the best

  • The four decades you named are all great musical decades. Sadly the golden age of popular music is dead and music nowadays is made mostly by people who are just doing it for the money.

  • Catchy tune indeed,he is damn weird, forgot how cute teresa was, gotta say between her and the bucks fizz ladies well why do you think postman are fast with their hands ? lol

  • He's a wierdo but you can't argue with this perfect slice of catchy pop!

  • Blimey, must have taken you a while to come up with that masterpiece. swearing too, you must be really hard.

  • so cute!!

  • Comment removed

  • I hold Teresa Bazar singularly responsible for the lamentable state of my eyesight in later years. She was the reason I was forced to wear boxing gloves in bed. Cow! Nice cow though.

  • buckfelize: Thank you, absolutely hysterical and beautifully crafted!

Oh, how all we polishers identify with your misery.

To add to our distress, she gave the impression that the back door wasn`t locked.

    Heady days indeed.

  • ...And his hair now i look at it...

  • Looking at her hair, I now understand how they managed to burn a great big hole in the ozone layer with hairspray in the 80's :p

  • David Van Day actually surprisingly looks like a puppet!

Tereza, on the other hand, just looks cute.

  • pop-tastic

  • David Van Day always reminded me of William Shatner lol

This tune could quite easily slot into todays chart - the dayglo nu ravers would love it!

  • ooooo the memories xx lol

  • This is awesome. I've never heard the original version of this song. Sadly, I grew up to the Mini-Pops version. Now I can't get this song outta my head!

  • Just how white are their teeth!!!

  • Another amazing bit of sound production by Trevor Horn. Were these two ever involved with each other for real?

  • Yes, they were both boyfriend and girlfriend. They did get engaged but later admitted it was just a publicity seeking scam. Thereza finally dumped David after she got tired of his constant womanising.

  • I love they way she grins and rolls her eyes at 2:40

  • I agree, she looks so damn cute!!!

  • thats because she knew it was all a sham and was probably sick of david at that point

  • 80s.....loved, and still love it!!!!!!!!

  • i saw this on pop goes the band LOL

  • I never realised back in the 80's he had such an impressive lunchbox. How pleasing!

  • she needed a good old boning though!!i think i wore the palm of my hand out in the 80,s over her!!

  • They should have made a porn video. I once went to Brighton, never saw his burger van though :0(, jumbo hot dog for me DVD please!

  • good stuff..!!

  • My mirror always echos !

  • Mirror is on of my niece's favourite song and video

    and shes onlu five.

  • I love you mirror mirroe

  • Produced by Trevor Horn don'cha know

  • I think I would have the horn too Trevor!

  • The girl (Therese Bazaar - I think thats her name) sang on one or two of Gary Numan tracks. Notably Noise Noise

  • OMG guilty pleasure....i wasn't even born! cheesy or what!!!

  • Great classic chessy 80,s pop! those were the days

  • Christ, I'm coming over all nostalgic!

    Excellent post. Good work sir!

  • I remember seeing this video on the Multi-Coloured Swap Shop with Noel Edmonds at the time (December 1981 or thereabouts).

It's just as good today all these years later...many thanks for the posting!

  • Another great 80,s memory............ oh such nostalgar this is bringing back so many memories :)

  • love it dvd should of won i am a celebrity get me out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    booooooooooohhhhhhhh nichola:@:@:@:@

  • Another Dollar classic from the early 80's which gave them a UK no. 4 hit in January 1982.

  • I really liked them when i was i younger grew up with them it makes me feel old lol but i loved their songs

  • @Cpt1Jack1 same here mate :)

  • Forgotten how may great pop singles Dollar had made!

Will have to buy a 'best of' CD!

Also check out David Van Day in 'Screamtime' an early 80's horror movie, in which he has his clothes ripped off by an Elizabethan ghost, and is terrorised by garden gnomes! It's a great fun film.(The section David is in was originally a short called 'Do You Believe in Fairies')

  • Whats does biff baff bof mean? Deathcore.

  • The girls hot! Love this tune.

  • You had to be around at the time to appreciate Dollar - they were more upmarket than Bucks Fizz, much better produced and were the perfect pop duo. Nothing today can match it. We just get X=Factor winners in the pop charts singing covers!!

  • Yeah. Kinda getting sick of their bloody winners getting xmas number ones... -.-

  • @Alwyn38 That's a very good way to describe them... If the two groups were places, Bucks Fizz would be Essex and Dollar would be Kent...

  • @shmuli9 cherly baker hates david she said on coach trip show

  • @jobber25v that bitch has too much to say for herself she was a bitch to jay aston too back in the 80s about something that had nothing to do with her

  • Had such a crush on the girl when I was growing up :o)

  • i like this song like lol

  • For some reason I really like him. (I'm male and NOT gay). I'm gonna grow my hair like his in this vid, COOL

  • he reminds me of michael jackson

  • My favourite Dollar song

  • tottenhamhtospurs199

If you think that then why are you listening to one of his songs??

And you other two thanks for replying :)

    Biff Baff Boff ;]

  • Dollar had one of the most sublime moments in pop history. The four singles produced by Trevor Horn were pure genius. DVD and TB were the perfect pop duo.

  • MissOriganal - I totally agree with you Haha

Biff Baff Boff was an immense song and no you are not sad. i would have done the same thing if you hadn't :)

  • woke up in the morning and i'm feeling alright oombaga oombaga oombaga oom, Messing around but I don't wanna fight, oombaga oombaga oombaga oom, Walking through the jungle swing though the tree's, Bush tucker trials they terrify me. Got no food, starving hungy, Bush battles last an eternityyyyyyyyyyyyyy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Biff baff boff we're celbrities Biff baff boff down on our knee's, You don't have to be on t.v you can be a celebrityyyyyy! I'm not sad btw I'm just in love with David x
  • you rock! x

  • MissOriganal your not sad :P im totally the same david is the most awsome person to ever walk the earth in my opinion. everyone thinks im super weird for being obsessed with him but i dont care what anyone thinks and everyone at school knows :P

  • Hehe thank you:)

I don't know what it is about him but a really like him.

    x

  • yeah its just everything about him is just too awsome for this world. hes my idol :P

  • I saw him first ;]

  • Legend of a man, legend of a song! DVD lives on! :) xD

  • This is bloody good.

  • just been out with my mates and according to one of them it's not wrong to like 'mirror mirror' or 'hand held in black and white'. and i've been hiding this secret for years!

  • i saw david on im a celebrity he woz so funny BIFF BAFF BOFF

  • biff bafff bofff!!

    lmaoo

  • wow look at him now compered to then lol (he still cares about his hair) this vid is so funny that i must give 5/5 stars lol!!!!!!!!">

  • David Van Day is so kool. i wanted him to b in th I'm a Celeb final

  • It was really uncool to like Dollar when this came out - it's still as catchy as it ever was. Good thing about internet now is you can go out and buy those cheesy tracks for yourself without some cool shop assistant looking down their nose at you. I'm off to hunt for this mp3.

  • So true! I liked dollar at the time and always found their songs catchy but would never have admitted it to my friends who all said how crap they were. Looking back it's so sad, I mean my a lot of today's standard they are realy very good indeed. Also it's like DVD said on IACGMOOH 'shooting star' had to sell over 250,000 singles to reach No14 whilst today you only have to sell 10,000 to get to No1 !

  • Mind you Glat64 I still don't admit to liking this to my mates. Looks like DVD did the right thing going on 'I'm a celeb.' Let's see if this gets to number one again at Christmas 2008!!!! I'm not prepared to buy 10,000 copies though.

  • Tell your mates how you feel. Go with it.

It's society's crime, not ours. It's like a tide. Give in to it, boy. :)

  • Also consider this, when 'shooting star' got to No14 here's who they were up against in the chart that week. Donna Summer, Queen, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Earth Wind & Fire, The Clash, Barry White, ELO, Billy Joel, The Shadows, The Cars Status Quo, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Mike Oldfield, Third World, Boney M, Barbara Streisand, Niel Diamond, The Bee Gee's, Hot Chocalate, The Buzzcocks, Blondie, Shalamar, The Eagles, Niel Young, & Judas Priest to name but a few! Some competition huh ?

  • his alot better singer than her

    what a legend

  • god,i could give her one... :-)

  • Hey now, this IS catchy! I like this song.

When Nicola said he couldn't sing, was she refeering to this time?

  • She was talking out of her arse! David is brilliant!

  • godd i love this song

cant believe his got voted out !

  • 2:00 HAHAHA

  • Not changed a bit David V Day, good pop fest

  • Is this the "Birthday Boy" in the celebrity big jungle?

  • Yes

  • I remember loving this record when it was first released and it still sounds great today. A real pop British pop classic! Thanks for posting!

  • David has been brilliant on I'm a Celebrity. He really showed Nicola up as a bimbo of the worst kind. Hope she is the first to go- the evil tart!!!!

  • God i had such a crush on Tereza Bazzar. Great song. Good to see david on I'm a celebrity...

  • I HEARD THIS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TONIGHT (sorry why am i shouting !) on chris evens drive time .. and i thought .. this really sounds like a tevor horn prodution .. .. any way .. great production mr horn !! and talking of horn ... she alway gave me one !! come to think of it !! bye now !!

  • I just became aware of these pop gems from the wonderful 8o.s. Trevor Horn at his most blantentlly POP-ALICIOUS !!!!

  • I guess the music videos Aqua's "Baby girl" and Sophie Ellis Bextor's "Get over you" where inspirated by this video! : )

  • theraze looks like jayne mansfield

  • His hair looked pretty nice! hahah

  • euphoric pop at its best.. helped along by fantastic production of course..

  • Nice video.Who is the guy who plays the toy shop owner and sculptor?

  • Good song, but she reminds me of a blone Bonnie Langford!

  • Some records just make you very happy and This is One of Them !!

  • You're right!

Must have been waiting for a royalty cheque or possibly doing an Einstein, didn't he have his favourite suit x 3 in his wardrobe so that he could always look the same?

Perhaps they should have looked in the Mirror seeing as they were singing about mirrors.

  • Oh I don't know. Having to do a hard days graft shooting your pop videos then you have to race to the BBC TV Center to do your TOTP appearance. Who'd want to be an 80s pop star, hey?

  • I'm not too sure about this but I also reckon that David Van Day's outfit in the toy shop window is the same as what he wore when they did Hand Held in Black and White on TOTP

  • I've just noticed that the outfits they are wearing are the same as on their TOTP appearance

  • forget the girl, the dude is hot!!

  • proto-dreampop

  • I was 17 when this charted and was going out with a girl called Jeanette at the time who was Thereze's EXACT double!!! Very happy memories - Jeanette & Thereze were babes. Thank you for posting!

  • Yeah - in your dreams fella!! :o)

  • lol i was 11 and goin out with a girl called niki (haha first love an all that) she had the hair and the look of thereze she was really georgeous, I saw her last week visiting her mum while i was visiting mine and she looked the same as she did then ONLY MORE ORANGE THAN DAVID DICKENSON, lol i had to chuckle.

  • lol im 16 but heard this song on christmas day n couldnt get the real catchy beat out my head so thought instead of jus hummin bits i could remember ill learn the words aswell :D

  • I was about 15 when this first came out.

Plenty of water under the bridge since!

But I still love it and Thereze was gorgeous!

  • lol i am 14 but i love this song:P
