  • I like your dovetail jig. It's very technical.

  • Holy crap I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight after seeing him run that box past the saw with his hand in it .And I just got done watching unthinkable this video is more disturbing.

  • Perfect job!!!! Good♣Good♦Good♠Good♥

  • Thanks for the great ideas here. I've made 3, so far, for x-mas presents. My only complaint is the routing of the arch. It takes awhile and is really messy. But, I have to say, it works and makes the box unique (I was skeptical).

For those without a dovetail jig, just use box joints.

  • P.S. For those giving Mr. Eagle such a hard time about his sawing technique, try cooking. It's much safer.

    Thanks again, Eagle.

  • @clarionflyer My videos are meant to be a glimpse into how I do things in my shop. Viewers should only do something that I do if they feel comfortable doing it. The safety police on here would probably hurt themselves cooking! They should try chess.

  • @EagleLakeWoodworking muy bueno este trabajo

  • @clarionflyer That's great that you made 3 of these! Very nice. The routing operation for the top is kind of a bear. There probably is a better way, but I haven't revisisted this design yet. Thanks for your nice comment here, and I'm glad you were able to reproduce the project successfully.

    John

  • gotta get a dovetail jig, i still do them by hand.

  • Thanks for the instructions, they were extremely helpful together with excellent video work. That's the positive aspect, the next comment is not negative but am I wrong in saying that the lid did not fit tightly? If it's not quite together what can you do about it?

  • You have all the tools of the world man, I really enjoy your video...

  • Thanks man. I've been collecting tools little by little for many years. I also build / restore a lot of my tools and jigs. I reward myself with upgrading a tool every now and then, but only those tools that I get significant use from.

    I appreciate your nice comment.

  • Bueno, pues con una puta maquina, !!

  • Great Job! This is the first time I've seen a Wixie used in a video. I love mine and use it everywhere. Also, good call using acetone first but some may wonder why you do that.

I don't see a problem with your sawing technique. The most important safety precaution you have taken (assuming you are wearing eye protection) is using a splitter in your saw plate. IMO as long as you know where your fingers are kickback is the greater danger.

  • Thank mag884. I appreciate you watching the video and commenting here. I love that little Wixey guage too. Such a great concept that really takes the guess work out of square up your tools.

I agee totally on the splitter. I wouldn't use a saw without one!

    Thanks again, John.

  • get yourself a riving knife for that tablesaw. I agree with comments below. Your luck's running out. Lose your fingers and you're out of a job and what about kickback?

  • Until a hornet lands on your nose and you sneeze. . . fingers goodbye!

  • What are you doing resawing with your fingers so close to the table saw blade!!?

  • I'm cutting wood.

  • Great! Glad to hear it. Hope no novices copy your style and cut flesh instead!

  • I like it, this is the cleanest router work I have ever seen, thank you.

  • Thank you very much for watching and commenting here.

  • you're welcome

  • This time you are wearing two rings at the table saw. Are you aware of how dangerous that is?

  • scary isn't it? And they're not just small rings.. those are huge. I keep waiting for something to go wrong in these videos and see fingers flying all over the place.

  • I'll be sure to include my fingers getting cut off in the highlight film.

  • Let's see... what can I complain about since I am commenting with a bunch of curmudgeons... well, how about the rounded top of that box? I am not into it- how can I stack a bunch of loose papers on top of it? And your shop isn't nerdy enough.

    Love those d-tails, sir.

  • Thanks for the good laugh man! You're right on about some of the folks around here.
