Does this have a solid flywheel? If it does, is it lumpier when changing? Thinking of getting a solid flywheel if/ when mine goes. Also, whats the bhp on this after the modifications?
It has a solid flywheel now, it didn't when that video was made. The only big difference I notice is that it is a little less smooth when taking off from a stop.
A solid flywheel, at least from what I've heard, is a pretty good idea. I put the VR6 clutch/G60 flywheel setup in mine and it still feels stock but can hold that extra torque.
very nice but a highway pull on those cars is what really lets these tdi's shine ;) pretty much the same setup as my golf tdi STOCK CLUTCH ERRRRRR!!!!!!!
That thing is pretty damn fast even with all of those miles on it. I'm planning on getting a rocketchip stage two or three and bigger injectors in the near future for my 2004 tdi. How much did your setup cost?
Isn't unitronic based in canada? I would probably consider it but i don't want to send my ecu away or drive really far. Jeff from rocketchip lives in the same state i do so i think i'll drive up to his place.
impressive for a 1.9/2.0 tdi. And the neat part is you havent even done the big upgrades to it. (i.e. monster turbo, exhaust, performance clutch so on..)Also you can get cetane fuel boost for it.

what are the main differences between the 99.5 and the 2000 models?
bilalahmed2123 2 years ago
The clutch and shift linkage are the two big items. The clutch is better on the 99.5, the shift linkage is much better on the 2000.

Yes they are but they have plenty of dealers in the states and other countries :)
Go check out their website and go to the dealers link at the top.

My friend has two TDI's. One MKIV and one MKV. I've driven the MKIV and it really pulls hard. Spins the wheels on summer tires even in second.
The Unitronic chip gives more HP than the Rocketchip but it's up to you which one you'd like to get!!!

Oh I forgot to mention they're both chipped Unitronic...obviously :P

ok, thanks. i'm seriously thinking about unitronic now!

Nothing special, maybe in the USA but here in Europa you find much better diesels these days.
Check out my Ford Focus TDCI ;-)

In the USA the only makers selling diesel cars around that time was VW and Mercedes, and you could only get the 90 HP engine in the VW :(
