but then you are breaking the law by killing people. this is a non-lethal alternative which means that you can also fire upon suspects that haven't fired at you yet without killing them. otherwise you would have to wait until you are shot at.

How's this, what if you were sailing on a small boat/yatch would it be ok to shoot first or let them come on board and rape your wife and children first.?
